The new Eclipse (especially Unstable Core)

Has anyone tested in it in PvP? I tried but I suck too bad to last more than 2-3 seconds in a 1v1, and all the people dueling on the PTS right now seem way better than average.
Basically, Eclipse/Total Dark it sounds as pointless as ever *unless* it can no longer be broken out of *or* it does serious damage as a penalty to those who try to break free. I am going to guess neither of those was implemented. And along those lines, does it feel like the other morph does meaningful damage or is it just "Hey spam Unstable Core at lots of targets who will shrug it off."
