Personally I wouldn't mind it so much if we were given a new level of customization in crafting where we could change the shape/size of the pieces such as this. I think of it like the customization of different pieces in the game Spore:

    spore_screen_2.jpg

Of course, the parameters of these changes would have to be to a much lesser degree than Spore to refrain from creating things that are too crazy, but it'd make crafting so much more in-depth and add a level of creativity to it. Maybe even add new things crafters could add by way of leveling, finding instructionals' and of course crown store sales.

Oh ... I get it ... like the $15 Nord Hero costume added so much to game play?

Yes it did! That's why it cost $20! You know it does, Zeni said so, THAT'S WHY IT COSTS $20!

So technically, you can replicate that. That is a Leather Bosmer medium armor top and a Hide Bosmer medium armor bottom.

    Really?
The tops are usually the ones with the flappy bits attached though :S

Sorry, had to edit my response. I just tried it on a character and the tassets showed up when using a leather top. So yeah, she is in "custom" armor.

And ... you broke my heart.

    Keep the awesome. :(

Sorry. Should have measured twice and cut once.

I was questing in Coldharbour last night and I came across Faraniel, who sports some really awesome looking armor. My first thought, "Wow, I wonder if I can craft that." And a second later it hit me:

tbh, that armor doesn't look particularly good at all. Looks like a spandex suit. "Hip flaps" would add a bit more sturdy-ness to the overall look of it.

But that's just my opinion. All armors I've worn would probably look worse without the "flaps".

The female Bosmer heavy iron armor does not have hip flaps and the but flaps have nice patters which can be dyed separately with the pattern in that same color repeating in the chest part of the armor. It looks somewhat iconic to me and has a far better quality than some of the expensive costumes on top of it.

    eso-bosmer-bone-iron-heavy-armor-4.jpg

Btw those floating arm cops will stop floating when you provide this lady with the shoulder of an olympia swimmer. someone wielding heavy weapons would have such wide and muscular shoulders - and then those arm cops do not float around any longer but attach to the shoulder in a very good looking way.

Ah well, another hint to make it look better - this armor looks best in my opinion on a small woman. Then the belly button fits into the opening nicely. But once you stretch her - or the character selection screen is stretching her, it will look wierd. It makes me really wonder why ZOS has such a problem with keeping proportions of characters in perspective - this should not be too hard to do for 3D designers.

The style in the OP pic looks like Bosmer style. It doesn't have these flaps, that's why some of my characters were wearing it for a long time (both medium and light).

I really wish we could disable/hide these, along with the other outstanding and floating things like shoulder parts and these knee things (sorry I don't know the word for these).

Yes and due to that it has a lot of light colors in it, you can basically adapt it to every color you might want to use on it. It is iron armor, but when you use book cover brown on it and white or sand brown on the patterns, it makes it look like an embroidered leather set - which looks amazing actually - it does not look like painted on the skin when you dye it like that, those colors seem to give it depth. I like to dye stuff, and that is, what is so bad that costumes do not come with that feature. Anything what enhances creativity of players in the game makes it 1. fun to play and 2. spend more time on NOT RUSHING through the content, so it will last a lot longer. And this is not just a female thing, I have seen men working on their armor dyes for a very long time until they were satisfied with the result - men like to look awesome as well, not just we women.

I don't know if this bug still exists, but I used to wear the khajiit robe a couple of months ago, and the 'hip flaps' were broken on it, so were inside the actual robe and invisible, could only see the top bit of them poke through once in a while. I was really disappointed when this bug was not present after making new clothes...

Hm, I guess you are talking about a male khajiit, they have an overly bulky figure with the same values compared to females. So maybe those flaps were adjusted in a way, that they do not float far apart from female shapes and this brought them inside the armor for those khajiit, which prefered a more bulky build. Female khajiit are overly skinny, but it works somewhat if you make their height the smallest possible. This is a general problem in this game - male characters are far too bulky for my taste and females are anorexic - and in many costumes they get boyish hips. Who the heck came to the idea to mess with female hips in that way - this is one of the vital things, that the relation from waist to hips schould be about 0.7 for highest attraction. It goes in direction of zero attraction, when this relation approaches 1 - like with male shapes or boyish hips.

Another nice effect of these sleeves being actual mesh is, that they cast shadow onto the arms and other things - just look at her right arm, the shadow casted by the sleeve is visible on her upper right arm.

They are so horrendous. They seem to be able to fly even! Just floating in mid air next to your leg. And the way they move when your char runs looks so broken.

Now I'm actually wondering why they ever made them in the first place!

Because that person's armour looks like an all in one catsuit or a onesie?
