As for myself I would also love it more elements would be more client based instead of both. That way perhaps the performance on lower end systems will get some massive improvements.
Also another interesting element would be the ability to switch off the players. Just go on a server where you're all alone. So you can enjoy the solo content all by yourself.

Switch off the players? I mean, you're being serious? Name me an MMO that has ever done that. Ever.
The only way to do this would be to give every player their own instance of the world. It baffles me that people come and play an MMO (which by definition is with other people) and dream of making it a single player experience. It's single player enough.
