Hopefully this will stop the price fixers on ps4 aswell, there's more tempering alloy for sale than dreugh wax, yet alloys are 5-7k more per piece

One would presume so, and I also hope so. That's probably more important than floating numbers, given how hard it can be to visually track some buffs.

I know right. Scumbags bought up all the tempering alloys to sell at high price haha. I'm struggling to even get any from writs and hirelings for about 4 weeks o.O so no way am I buying them at the prices they're all fixed at.

Text chat can be automatically monitored for spam, the game isn't free, and also requires a subscription through Xbox or Sony to play online - this really isn't going to be a problem.

Voice chat is still gunna be in the game, no keyboard required. If you do want to use text chat a controller/phone/keyboard can be used.

Besides the major DLC packs, other features we are working on include scrolling combat text (which will go live with the Thieves Guild DLC in Q1), character nameplates, the ability for console players to display their character name instead of their PSN ID/XBL Gamertag, among others.

I can think of, right off the top of my head, four forum-users that MUST be crying right now.
All the times they kept repeating "It's not going to happen. They said 'no', just stop asking!"
I hope they are now choking on those words.

The ONLY reason I quit playing was because of the total lack of any ability to meet new players if they either didn't have a microphone, or they could't use one due to everybody in their house being asleep...as I play at odd hours.

I only hope that the decision, or re-decision, didn't come too late.
I have already heard from over ten former players that have said "Yeah, they are finally adding tectchat for consoles, but I have moved on. I have no interest in starting over.", or things of that nature.

But, to all those "They said 'no', stop asking for textchat!" people....


Can you read my mind as well as you thought you could read the game-maker's?
I hope so...because I cannot post what I am thinking towards you all now.

I just find it amusing that Matt Firor said, "... by focusing on player-to-player interaction, which after all is the heart and soul of games like ESO." Which is WRONG. This may be considered an MMO, but the overwhelming majority of the game is focused on solo content which requires ZERO player-to-player interaction- which is what makes ESO successful IMO. In fact, most MMOs that focus on forced group content do very poorly these days... and when it comes to ESO, a significant portion of the players here are former Elder Scrolls single-player gamers- hence the reason why, IMO, the 'mostly solo content' works so well here.

To the topic at hand... glad to see text chat will be coming to the consoles finally. Now we can finally see an end to the "consoles need text chat" forum posts.

Where i agree with some of your post. This isnt considered an mmo, It IS an mmo however you wrap it up.. it just happens to be a ES mmo. If this was so single player driven you would not be getting nearly as much updates as we do get..

The fact is it has a community and end game, pvp. group dungeons. Everything about it screams multiplayer.
I highly doubt you play on your own constantly...

And what mmos that focus on multiplayer/end game are doing poorly thesedays?!

WoW is on an expansion hiatus lol. when legion pops in november everyone and their nan will be back on there including me.
SWTOR is busy as ever, although just waiting on a new raid/dungeon update.

Why would it fail? ps4 already have keyboard support and I and many others already use a small usb/bluetooth keyboard no problems on other games.

Xbox one keyboard support is coming this year, So we can use any keyboard on it.

Not everyone will want to use a bulky chat pad on their controller, Quite happy with a small keyboard thanks

I think most of you are crazy. Have you ever tried text based typing on consoles? It's super slow and cumbersome. IT"S HORRIBLE! It will not be the same as PC. Sure you can buy a keyboard or something but if a complaint is most people don't have mics do you really think they are going to do this? It's only going to be the hardcore players using text based chat.

we can toggle it off. I already know it is going to be filled with racism, politics and other toxic nonsense a lot of the time as with any MMO I have played on PC. Yes.. realm reborn on ps4... Its really not that difficult and cumbersome to use as people make out... the complaint isnt most people don't have mic's. Its the fact that sole voice chat in an mmorpg is utter garbage, Its not a single player game..

Well it doesnt matter, text chat is now coming woohoo we win... Live with it.. theyve stated its optional anyway.

Warframe on PS4 has text chat and voice chat. Text chat works great for trading, grouping, and guild communication. Then everyone gets on voice chat for missions. There are several other games on console with text chat and they work great as well.

Could you elaborate on your console text chat experiences and why you think it's so horrible. I think you owe us an explanation after calling us crazy.

So, you don't see any reason to use textchat and/or a keyboard?

Simple solution...don't use it.
See how that "choice" comes into play?
I don't like playing archers.

Nope...I "choose" not to use them.
Choice...it's a real thing now. (Or, "soon" at least. (lol))
Which is all that players have been asking for.
The ability to "choose" to use, or not use, a feature that is readily available on another platform of the same game.
Which is how it should have been upon console release.

And now, it seems, that ZoS has found a large enough number of console users that DO want to use it...hence the addition of it to the console platform.

This is more than likely what will happen, I already get spammed from XBL with fake XBL point messages all the time. I will be turning it off in most cases unless it actually becomes relevant.

Yes I have, for several years. It works just fine. When in dungeons, use voice and controller. When in town, pick up the keyboard and get your business done
