once few people are in voice chat he will switch to text and get a group haha or sell things because he is tired of searching guild stores haha

side note that would be cool being like hey anyone have x item and someone be all yeah I saw it in a guild trader in ardougne while you are in grahtwood or something would be cool being able to promote your guild store like that if you know you have it in the store making people look in them

Is they don't turn it on they are gonna have a hard time keeping up with the action in cyrodiil or finding a dungeon group.

Yes we are finally getting text chat. not just that we are also going to be able to display are characters names. instead of are psn or xbox1 names this is just awesome made my day

. it seems zenimax ain't as dumb as everyone thought. just a little slow lol but the company came around finally.

Don't need this. You won't be carrying on conversations via text chat. Text chat is going to be used for short, heavily abbreviated, sentences that will reach far more people through zone, alliance, or possibly even global text chat "channels".

For example on a group finder channel you might read, " LFG, vet darkshade, v16 DK tank".
Or, in Cyrodiil zone chat you might read, "20 EP attacking Bleakers".
Or in a trade chat you might read, "WTS Dreugh Wax 5k".
Or in a guild text chat you might read, "hide and seak tonight in Daggerfall, 8pm est, use member channel 2".

Voice chat will still be ideal for cordinating with your group in a dungeon and i expect a mic will be required by most people that group up, like it is today. Text chat really shines at connecting you to the masses. If it is implemented correctly it will greatly improve the social aspect of the game. Those that want to isolate themselves or their group can turn it off but i promise you that doing so will hurt your experience. Remember this is a MMO, it's not supposed to feel empty and void of life.

Of course a keyboard will make typing these short sentences easier but it had too long been a misconception that a keyboard is required for text chat.

Best of all, the coordination from text chat will actually make voice chat ueful as you will be able to join a channel with a purpose. If you see a group of players in your area, you can use text chat to see what they are doing and if they have room for another, then join their grop channel. So much easier than hoping they see the voice icon and join area chat, or have to view their gamertag and message them from the system menu/messaging app hoping they reply.

Text chat can't come fast enough, no mmo should be without... anyone upset by this is a fool... voice chat is it even close to the primary source of communication... talking to 3 or 4 people at a time is not a very social experience and might as well be destiny at that point of of lacking mmo features

I currently just pull the existing corded keyboard off my PC and use that, but now that ESO is supporting text I'll probably go ahead and get me a Bluetooth one

not true text chat will be heavily used for role-players

and if you want to type it out with the on screen one that's on you but it is much more efficient. that and the xbox one can also plug in with the headset

so there's that best of both worlds
