Just saying, last time there was a big discussion on an inspect option, the thread was closed after 7 or so pages of flaming and warnings. It just brings out the judgmental pr***s in people.

Im much more interested in Console chat and pvp , and I have seen no flaming.

I have never seen a thread on Inspection so I wanted to bring it up.

Not a single person has said ZOS's view on it so do they have one??

It was a while back now, couple of weeks I think. ZOS don't have an official stand on it like a lot of things, as they just haven't mentioned their view at all.

I'm not on console and don't PvP much at all, so I didn't feel educated enough on the other subjects to mention them :p

    Inspect option = NO

Some people do not want their builds copied. What they rock in PVP is their business not yours. What they rock in PVE is their business not yours.

Gear does not make a good player. The inspect option will lead to excluding people it always has.Discussed in beta and thrown to the wayside.

Simple thing called /Whisper works fine.
    For consoles ask them

Being able to see other peoples gear important super basic. Whats the point of spending an extra 100 hours getting all gold gear if no one can see it?

So people can exclude other people from doing dungeon if their stats don't meet their requirements for dungeon or trials?
    1. TEXT CHAT:
There is no reason for it not to be in the game. It's like playing wow on a gameboy. a wireless keyboard is 15$ on amazon.(price of a sub.) It should be activated in the menu and be able to be turned off.

    1. So we got to spend more money to communicate those who are too lazy to use their headset
    2. It's not very effective in a zerg group when a the group leader giving out commands like every 2 seconds.
    3. For dungeon, trials and dsa, who has time to type out how the mechanics work to new player. While in battle do you want to type out to your group to block, dodge or attack a certain addss or boss?

Are you really not for text chat? Of course voice is the go to but text chat is needed how can people be this thick

If you got a small tv and sit at least a yard away from it, you won't have time to read those small text quickly? Whete would we place our keyboard if you playing on a couch or bed?

you also dont have to use it, when you are in a group with everyone on teamspeak it

I'm not for an inspect option at all. I've discussed this before and feel its something better avoided. Ok, sure a lot of people want to know what others are rocking to either A) copy their builds one for one or B) discriminate against them when it comes to grouping. If you really want to know if someone is good or not, just play with them a little bit.

IF you have spent enough time in the game, you'd know there are people that can do end content in rubbish gear and ALSO people in VR16 Legendary gear that are still struggling to get through Dark Shade......

This is the main resaon I want Inspect. So I see awesome players and copy there build, see sets weapons I never knew about but then will play to get. Then when I do have some full awesome sets people can inspect me and ask me about it.
Or you see someone missing one piece you have to their set and give it to them.

I thought the point of MMO's was to stand out and create your imaginary legacy.

"Awesome sets" don't make an awesome player. Now if you do indeed see an awesome player...you can always ask them about their builds, 99.9% will answer;)

No to inspection option. Who cares worry about your own toon.

"You cant go your gear score is too low". <--- We dont need any more of those games. I'd rather have someone that can block, dodge roll, and not stand in stupid than a person with all legendary v16 gear while having no clue how to play his toon or whats going on.

    1. Some people are handicapped. Some people cant chat late at night for RL reasons.
    2. Try voice chatting from one zerg to another(voice chat hopping sucks). Chat box Alliance "zerg A go here. zerg B here." send. Good leaders plan ahead.

    Inspect option? Can you elaborate?

We need to be able to inspect other players gear/weapons, hopefully the mana/health/stam too.

So if your tank is wearing all Leather/Cloth Armour you would know.

Wouldnt it cause some players to be ostracized due to their gear not being what someone else feels is good enough? Leaving them left out of learning how to PvP?

While gear does help in pvp, being able to be battle leveled makes up for it so gear isn't as much of a priority unless you're Max level, in which case once again it helps, but is more about your CP in my opinion. No one is going to say "You can't run with us because your gear sucks." Simply because the more the merrier in Cryodiil and you want as many people as you can get to help take objectives.

Actually, someone here made either a thread,or a comment, cant remember which, about being told they couldnt join in the PvP due to their gear being not as good as the others were.

Absolutely not to inspect. Inspecting gear is nothing other than elitism. Each different armor type looks different. If you have a tank wearing cloth, you'll know. Aside from that, this only leads to "oh, you aren't wearing this set, it you're armor isn't high enough, bye." There is enough elitism, we don't need to add more. Also, the deva are working on some of the functionality that add ons provide pc users, so we should be seeing dps counters, flying text, and hp numbers soon (tm). So, hopefully op you'll be seeing some of what you like soon!

Yes people could be a little more selective. I personly dont want to run a vet dungeon with someone who does not have a single piece of set gear.
Im tired of spending an hour healing and dpsing to get to a vet boss only to find out my dps cant do enough damage to even burn down the adds when I have to be full healer.
If you dont want to everr be judged in a game check out neopets!

Neopets! HA nicely said. I agree with having it but with a defaultto be turned on or off. I know there are players out there who will reject someone because of their gear while on the other hand there are players who wouldnt. Having this as something you could turn on or off would be nice. Especially if your proud of your gear and want to show off something hard earned

How about joining a guild, helping guildies make their builds and not running with randoms if you can't stomach it?

Thankfully most of the comments here reject an inspect option. I've seen what it does and it's not pretty. People who think they know how to play will reject not only sub-par players, but just about anyone with a non-standard build.

    1. Inspect option:
Being able to see other peoples gear important super basic. Whats the point of spending an extra 100 hours getting all gold gear if no one can see it?

lol... why do you need me to see what you have on? You're only special if you can brag about it? Come-on son.

As for the inspect option. IF inspect player is ever added to ESO it should be to see a text field that each player can set for themselves.

    You select "Inspect Gidorick"

And since I am allowed to put whatever I want in that text field (within reason... standard community rules apply), you see:
You see a shifty eyed Argonian who thumbs the edge of the blade by his side. He obviously doesn't trust you, and you shouldn't trust him.

If I wanted to I could put stats and whatnot in that area, but that's up to each individual player to decide what they want to divulge.

Of course... people would then be able to lie about what they are wearing.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

I would like to say ESO is becoming one of my favorite games of all time.
I could see playing ESO for a long time (buying every expansion and a mount every couple months.)
I want to have a forum were we can agree on a few basic improvements that NEED to be delivered and hopefully get a nod from ZOS.

    1. Inspect option:
Being able to see other peoples gear important super basic. Whats the point of spending an extra 100 hours getting all gold gear if no one can see it?

    2. Capture the scroll:
We need basic timed pvp games, open world pvp is nice but not the end all. I would pvp alot more if I could sign up for a 30-90 minuet games through a group finder.
My idea is a mini 30v30 2 sided cryodiil on a 60 min. Timer. No cp allowd. No campaigns, game does not start without a full roster. This is stratagy teamwork and skilled based not CP. New players would be able to pvp right away and ENJOY IT. Console would NEED text chat for this to be able to cordinate attacks with randoms. Of course there would still be a channel 1, 2 or 3 teamspeak
Would anyone else like this pvp mode?

    Console:
    1. TEXT CHAT:
There is no reason for it not to be in the game. It's like playing wow on a gameboy. a wireless keyboard is 15$ on amazon.(price of a sub.) It should be activated in the menu and be able to be turned off.
Fact: I all ready use a wireless keyboard with my ps4, mostly to message people who refuse to join my vet gold key run chat even to listen. HAVING TO GO THROUGH THE MENU FOR A SINGLE MESSAGE IS AWEFULL.
I think the keyboard should have no options of macros, CHAT ONLY. This would keep things fair and make it easyer for the devs to implament.
MMO's a supposed to be social, but I can only communicate with a couple people at a time. I would love to be able to hop on guild chat, ask how people are doing and if anyone can tank/dps and dunegeon. I honestly only want to use my voice when in combat. Joing a guild chat with 20+ stangers all probbally in pvp then spamming with my voice in NOT FUN. Consoles are missing a huge a social part of the game

    2. Damage Report:
Im not even asking for full dps mods. We need a after Dungeon Report of Dps/Healz/Damage Taken.
    IMPORTANT FOR 12 man ANYTHING.

ESO companion app would be amazing, but not top of the list.

Afterthought: CP ranks are coming soon(tm) that is a step away from inspecting people. Im very interested in what ZOS has to say/had said about the gear inspection subject.

I can see why people think inspection could be toxic, but I think the postive and negative still balance out. We need a solid awnser from ZOS on in-game consol chat soon. I plan on stopping playing in a couple months if there is no word on console chat.

Console chat should be #1 priority for the longevity of this game.

    1. No inspect is needed and it's never beneficial because it's often used as a means to exclude or quantify who should and shouldn't play with others. When you understand that scaling is in the game, it also doesn't make sense.
    2. This in some ways is the better option for PvP. Cyrodil needs a lot of change too

    Console:
    1. Flat out No it's not needed or required and also not a required feature of any massive online game especially for consoles See other threads for context
    2. Damage report isn't something I'm interested in and it's also not required or needed. I do understand the value it offers and what other may love about this but often we see bugs and many things not working as intended so I'd rather not have an indicator that takes away from my view that could also provide inaccurate information. The bars are enough, I'm doing dmg and it's very obvious as the bar gets smaller. No fight is long enough to need numbers floating or present in a box somewhere.

I gather more that players want icons or something showing DOTs and HOTs, dmg causes prior to the death recap. Those types of icons make sense if they can be simplified and not obtrusive as typically seen on MMORPG UI's of the past

    Companion App
I use to be all for this but the game doesn't offer anything offline or on its website so I don't foresee any value to this as from a console perspective, each console already has an app. If ZOS opens up data to see and pull offline as offers multiple services offline, then it becomes a yes but that hasn't been the direction they are interested in going.

If you want to know what gear someone is wearing, ask them. People tend to have no issues sharing it.

On top of that, a lot of the dropped sets have unique looks. You can tell when someone is wearing MK or Succession or Pariah, for example.

And if you have a sub-par DPS in your group, you will usually notice that way before the first boss in a vet dungeon...

As for capture the scroll, you can make your own game. Go to Cyrodiil with a group, check where the scrolls are, everybody grabs a scroll quest from the grand warlord and whoever has the quest that's most desirable keeps it, everybody else drops their quest and the person who kept it shares theirs with the group.

    Voilà! Capture the scroll.

Absolutely agree that console should have text chat. Among other things.

I don't have time to read the whole OP but I will comment on this for now:

"Whats the point of spending an extra 100 hours getting all gold gear if no one can see it?"

It should not be about showing off or who is more uber than who. I am glad you can't inspect people. If you have great gear and you know it, that should be good enough for you. Enough of the ego-driven gameplay already.
