I wonder why ESO didn't win in this contest :)
Title isn't even mentioned in titles for past years, and also not much votes so far for 2015...

That thread also has Archeage best MMO of 2014, Wildstar 3rd, and Age of Wushu as one of the best pvp games. I'm personally inclined to not take it seriously.

Best RPG on it is apparently league of angels...

    - Terrible design decisions. I doubt anyone can deny 1.5 was as close to balance this game has seen.
    - Bugs, bugs and more bugs. There are so many bugs that have been here since launch it makes me laugh.

    [snip]

I like it. I don't have much lag even in Cyrodil raids with 4 groups of 20 ppl each, and I am on 3.25 mbps DSL. If you are getting it all the time, it's likely on your end. There are bugs, but they are few and not any more than any other game in its second year.

Pulling facts out of thin air is a specialty of many of the forum posters here. The only suggestion I can make sadly is to ignore them. The lag however in primetime on Azura's is quite real, it's not a connection thing, it has even been acknowledged by ZOS. The second part I agree with, there are bugs in every game, it's inevitable.

People that come into these threads to spread hate must have really sad lives. I mean... I barely have time to do all the things I must and want, I barely have time for all the things I love....

Imagine having time to stick around the things that you claim that you hate and annoy them all the time?
    Very sad lives indeed....

Congratulations, Zeni. While ESO is far from a perfect game, it *is* a fun game that has sucked up a lot of my time, and I keep coming back.

I guess this means that all the "is eso dying?", threads are bogus.

To beat out ffxiv is no easy feat.

I really really enjoy playing this game, as Skyrim was my favourite game of all time and the idea of a multiplayer game like Skyrim blew my mind. There have been many bumps in the road during the pc only era, which I was not a part of as I'm on console, but I know ESO made a good recovery.

I love the customization of builds and the fact that crafting is one of the most important aspects of the game. Arguebly the most powerful armour sets in the game are crafted, which makes grinding rng less painful (Hundings rage, Julianos, twice born star).

It's all subjective, but Orsinium did a lot to make things interesting again. It's so rare to find a video game zone where you say to yourself, wow, I wish this were real so I could actually visit it. That's what Wrothgar does, even before factoring the quests and group options.

IC is beautiful, and the main ideas are there, but I think they should have played around with Oblivion gates to make the pack feel larger and blur the lines between one plane and the next, like you don't really know where your enemies are coming from. PVP is always going to be a tricky beast. But at least IC feels like a war, instead of Cyrodiil proper which is more of a logistical nightmare.

Yes, I'm regularly critical of the game. But it's like people don't realize that I don't talk about things I don't like, At all. Not even on my mind. If I like something and want it to improve and be even more enjoyable, I'm going to be pretty upfront with my feedback. Homogeneous praise rarely ever makes things better.

So congrats, but never stop innovating.

    Congrats!

I've enjoyed the game from the launch (it was not bad start at all), but with improments made so far, the game has gathered lots of depth. It is very well rounded game, my favourite by far at the moment.

The things I enjoy the most: immersive world, great design, attention to detale, flexible options to solo and group play and sosiality, strangely addictive PvP and off-combat distractions like grafting and treasure hunting.

Can't wait for the next year :)

I believe what have made and will keep making ESO successful is the game being part of The Elder Scroll franchise and somewhat The Elder Scroll lore friendly. Other than that, ESO is but another pretty game with above average game play. Please do your best to keep ESO loyal to this franchise.

As far as I can remember, there have been several threads on this subject, one of which being a few days ago and the conclusion seems to suggest that it is not that canon as people might think due to the compromises made for general game play.

I am not saying ESO is not lore friendly enough and nothing but another cheesy fantasy game. I am glad to see some people are satisfied with the current friendly level and I understand some compromises have to be made. I just hope ZOS can keep it up or even better.

If you consider the MMO elements then sure it will seem off because every TES title until this one has been single-player, but as far as the settings, characters, plots, etc. go it's all legit as far as I'm concerned lol

If this is the "best" the other games must be gosh awful. Unless they are comparing only PvE which, who knows, this game might be better than the rest.

Whatever the case ESO was better in 2014..

Yeah, Congrats to Zenimax, ESO deserves such high praise!

I think the biggest reason why ESO has improved so much is the team behind the game. I've never ever experienced such interaction between the game developer and community. It only shows how much they care for the game and for what they do.

Again, Congratulation and let ESO live forever!!!

Seeing as the future competition will consist of 3 year old Korean imports and kickstarter productions I dont think GW2, ESO, FFXIV and WoW have much to worry about. Players on the other hand...

I find it hilarious that someone who plays the game so hard core (and so consumed that he has to put his scores in his sig) will be the first to complain or troll. Way to go on making the argument that casuals make a better community!
lol very true. The vast majority of the people I'm friends with in-game are definitely casuals. The hard-core folks I've interacted with have, nearly without exception, been the worst complainers, whiners, and generally unfun people. Now obviously there are some exceptions to that, and there are hard-core folks out there who are just fine members of the community, but as a general rule casuals make a far, far better community.

I would just like to point out that's not entirely true. I'd say it's more of a person issue than hardcore/casual one. You can be pretty hardcore and still nice to new/learning people. And you can be a "casual" and a total jerk(this is absolutely not directed at you as you seem quite a nice person, judging by your posts on forums, but just personal experience from some in-game interaction). To be honest there's nothing that annoys me more than chosen "casual" people who think that "I'm casual" is an excuse to absolutely refuse to learn, ignore all mechanics/any kind of instructions, basically force the "more hardcore" folks to carry them all the way and complain about others if they die/wipe the group.

And before this gets misinterpreted, again, I don't mind people learning, I think that a nice person>20k dps any day, I'll gladly explain any fight/place to you and I'll be totally chill if you make a mistake because you're inexperienced with the fight/role/game or just have clumsy fingers. That's all good, but if you're just going to ignore any kind of instructions and not even going to admit your mistake but blame it on others, then that's not the "elitism" that's the problem here.
