I really like this idea, especially after accidentally deconning a purple monster shoulder set. That or I need to not decon at 2 am.

    Anyways, thank you, ZOS.

I stopped deconning things on Friday nights... I'd just bounce mail to make room since I had accidently deconned so much.. because.. uhmm.. because it was late, and I was tired. Yeah.

But that didn't turn out too well either because I accidentally mailed gear I was wearing in the middle of a dungeon once... Sometimes I'm not the brightest.

    THANK YOU ZOS FOR LOCKS.

    Ah, I see it now...

I hope they do it right. No right click to lock/unlock. Way too time consuming.

Sorry that's so time consuming ... guessing you don't right click to enchant, repair, or charge gear either??
Obviously I don't mean individually or small numbers. I mean when you must do it en masse.

It's like using Mark as Junk now. Sure, if you stop in the middle of your questing to Mark as Junk each new item and stack of items as you acquire them, fine. But what do you do if you don't mark anything until after a few hours of questing? Do you go through your bags right clicking and selecting Mark as Junk for each of the perhaps dozens of vendor trash items you've accumulated?

I certainly don't since after a good few hours questing I could have as much as 3 to 5 dozen junk items to vendor. I don't use Mark as Junk for just that reason. I'd have to spend too much time sifting through my bags and marking the stuff. Quicker to just sort it out at the vendor.

I'd rather click a button that put me into a "Toggle Lock/Unlock" mode and simply go down my inventory clicking on the items I want toggled. Click. That's locked. Click. That's locked. Click. Click. Click. Locked. Locked. Locked. Oh, I've decided to vendor that now. Click. Unlocked. Simple.

However, once they introduce the functionality it likely won't be a big deal to improve the interface if necessary. Won't help console players though.

Can we click on players and decon them yet? I know some Nords that I want to get rid of.

Item Saver is one of the best addons available. Only ever accidentally decon'ed something once, and it was a well-fitted Lord Warden helm so I am not too concerned.

This should probably be available in game, but if you are on PC, Item Saver is the answer. You can create different categories of items and give each type different permissions as to whether it can be sold, decon'ed, upgraded, etc.. It has so many applications. You can tag gear you are after, so you immediately know when you get a drop if you already have it or not. I use it to tag certain mats required to do writs that I want to keep on my character. You can also color code different sets. Really useful if you find yourself constantly sharing the same gear over and over between two characters. And most importanly, you can tag items you dont want showing up in your decon list.

@Oreyn_Bearclaw Until you are dungeon hopping and therefore character hopping and go on a not often used character that apparently didn't have the add-on enabled. RIP. Also - it was announced today that this WILL be in game once DB DLC hits ;)

    /lurk

This feature would save your customer support team tons of cash. What would save even more cash would be a way for players to retrieve lost items by themselves (with a cost obv).

Never had that problem. I am excited for the new feature, the question remains as to whether it will work better than the addon. :)

@Oreyn_Bearclaw I imagine it will work fine but it won't have as many options as the add-on. I'm fine with this as any addons I can get rid of the better!

They did mention in the notes for the preview of Dark Brotherhood that they are adding in a locking mechanic so that we won't accidentally deconstruct them. So in 3 months....after it's tested on PTS and doesn't work.....and still doesn't work when it hits live we'll be back to the addon.....DOH!

You just made me cry a little bit inside. I saw the Z and was SO hoping you'd say "that will come with scrolling combat text" or something. :'(:'(

Lurk is better than nothin' though :)

/lurk is actually a very good sign. just something simple like highlighting an item, going to options, and locking it would be great
