Twice born star viable?

OK so I'm getting ready to gear up another v16 stam character, a dk, for pvp.

I'm going 2 piece blood spawn and 3 piece agility with weapon enchants.

Would twice born with shadow and thief be better than using 5 piece hundings?

Thanks in advance

Here is what I would do to test if you don't have access to the PTS.

Make both sets of armor at VR14 in white, no improvements, no enchantments or just basic TA enchantments on the armor. Try both sets of armor against level appropriate mobs or a suitable world boss in Zone 10 and see how it compares to each other. Sure your not going to have all the power that you would at Improved VR16 with the top end Glyphs, but your comparing the armor set bonuses so this makes for a valid way to compare those without blowing 1600 mats to do so. Once you figure out which one makes you feel more powerful, then make that set in VR16.

I have seen some theory crafting posts where Julianos wins out over TBS for magic users under most conditions, and Hundings is the Julianos for Stamina users. But, Stamina is different enough that I would test this first on my character before making any conclusions.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Is PTS always there? Do you need a seperate download to use it?

Short answer: It depends on your build, but the difference between TBS and Hunding isn't going to be very large either way. Use whatever you're comfortable with.

    Long answer: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/224111

The above thread is Julianos vs. TBS, but since Julianos is an exact magical mirror of Hunding, the same things apply. Note that, at the start of the thread, TBS was deemed better, but as people worked through the changes in how CP crit damage bonuses are calculated, the conclusion changed to favor Julianos over TBS. Either way, the differences between the two are quite small. There is also some discussion about TBS vs. Hunding for stamina.

For most builds hundings provides more damage (assuming you use 5 piece medium armour).
If you use heavy armour and have use for some extra health and magicka, then tbs could be better, but it'll be very close.

I actually just tested it on my magblade. I had 1 kena, 3 torugs, 5 julianos. I had 52% crit chance and about 2800 spell power (unbuffed) and shadow stone (think that's the one for crit damage bonus ) I switched to twice born and had a dps loss of about 5-10k. I lost the spell power and even with crit chance as second mundus I still only got 56% chance. So with the loss in spell power it came up short on dps for me at least. Which was really disappointing. I was really hoping it would turn out better, esp as it is the 9 trait set.

That's really rather bad, were you using 9pce divines with that?

Everything save kena was divines. I also tried doing increased crit damage and spell damage but even all divines the spell damage was less than julianos and crit chance dropped to 46%. So, stick with either hunding or julianos. Real shame. Now if they brought soft caps back this set would be extremely valuable, but I think that's what destroyed it's viability, the meta is stack everything you can.

I wouldnt use shadow and thief since you cant crit on shields which is also a Problem with hundings crit bonus. My DK uses 2 Bloddspawn 3Endurance (healthy with weapon dmg enchants) 1malestorm(2H)/2Agility(S&B) and 5x Twiceborn star with warrior and serpent for more sustain

Besides the flexibility TBS provides you have an Extra bonus to Health and Magicka which is really good too
