Fine. It's misplaced "disgust" then. But don't take it out on the players that like to purchase this kind of "fluff" by directly insulting those players. Like it or not, it's players like the OP that are providing the primary monetary support for this game. So if you want to keep playing this game, you should instead be saying to them, "Thank you for buying all this crap so I don't have to! I really appreciate that you are willing to pay for this game, and allow it to continue to exist."
This viewpoint is bull****. I do pay for this game. I'm sitting on like 10k crowns that I would happily trade for a functioning game.
It's more like, "why are you guys buying all this crap to enable them to release more crap". As long as you are willing to pay for s*** that has no gameplay value, you will continue to be fed s*** with no gameplay value, and there is no incentive to actually provide you with s*** that has gameplay value.
Your anger is misplaced. It's not the people that are willing to buy fluff items that are causing the problem. It's the players who are NOT willing to pay a sub fee to play an MMO. In reality, most times those are NOT the same people.
I've played an MMO that was sub-based AND had a cash shop for vanity items. I actually still enjoyed paying extra and purchasing the fluff cosmetic crap, on top of paying the normal sub fee, because I liked that stuff. I also liked the game, and didn't want to see it go F2P.
Turns out that the game eventually went F2P anyway, and when it did, they had to start adding P2W stuff to the cash shop. That's when I quit. At least ESO isn't doing that.
Point is, it's not people like the OP that enjoy buying fluff cosmetic items that broke this game. It was the lack of a solid enough base game to be able to retain the sub-based model, combined with today's flighty ADD gamers that aren't willing to pay sub fees anymore. That's what forced ZOS's hand, and now, they HAVE to focus on making more of this fluff crap, because that's the ONLY way they can make $$$ with today's stupid MMO playerbase.
Sure, if they had fixed a lot of the game's problems BEFORE going F2P, they may have been able to string the sub model on a bit longer. But in today's world, going F2P is virtually inevitable, and once the line's been crossed, there's no going back. Blaming the people that are willing to keep supporting the game isn't going to help, and as I said, it's misplaced anger, because they weren't the ones that caused the problem.
First of all I'm not angry I'm disgusted. Secondly, I'm not angry at these people at all. You said I should be thanking them for buying this crap, and I said if anything, I should be questioning why they are buying this crap. You are twisting a quote to create an argument that doesnt exist.
You said you were "disgusted" by the types of players who enjoy this stuff. Those types of players aren't the ones you should be disgusted by.
I never said anything of the sort so I stopped reading there. I said that I was disgusted at being lied to and strung along and I said I was disgusted at this business model.
Regardless of what you would like to believe I never meant for this argument to continue into the next page so I will leave with an apology to anyone who might have been offended.
And I quote:I never said anything of the sort so I stopped reading there. I said that I was disgusted at being lied to and strung along and I said I was disgusted at this business model.
Just look at these forums light up about the new crown store items. It's kind of disgusting TBH.
In both of those quotes, you implied (if not directly stated) that the players who were getting excited about new crown store items disgust you. If that was not your intent, so be it. But that's certainly what it looked like, and why you are getting so much heat....yet here we are, getting excited about a damned dress in the crown store and yes, I am disgusted by it.
Fair enough. Apology accepted. Though I was not offended... I just found your apparent attitude toward the subject... misguided.Regardless of what you would like to believe I never meant for this argument to continue into the next page but its twisted quotes like these that kept me here.
I will leave with an apology to anyone who might have been offended.

I have seen the regular, quality, bug-free content that subscription models can provide. I am legitimately disgusted by these threads and I'll tell you why.
It's not about people being excited for a Baby Netch. It's not about the people in these threads at all. It's about being lied to and strung along. It's about investing a lot of time and effort into a hobby that I feel is being destroyed by this business model.
We were told, all of us, that ESO will NOT go FTP, yet here we are, getting excited about a damned dress in the crown store and yes, I am disgusted by it. ESPECIALLY after seeing IC, Orcinium, and all the bugs and lag that still exist in this game. This business model enables them to continue releasing this garbage.
Hey guys the game doesn't work but here is a pretty pink princess dress for you. That'll be 20 dollars please.
Better they produce this type of fluff than PTW items like many other MMOs. Not as if the graphics designers etc would be able to fix bugs or lag anyway and this stuff helps pay the salaries of the people who can fix bugs and lag.
This view point is also bogus. Perfectly capable animation and programming guys are working on these items that could otherwise be helping to fix Toppling Charge for example.
So, back to the topic at hand...
Are the "Black Senche-Panther" and the "Senche-Leopard" indeed the same ones that were available on PC a while back?
I'm not at home to check, but I'm pretty sure I have these already...

ESO was bleeding subs from the PC version long before the console launch. I think the console launch was just the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I'd be willing to bet that the reason they dropped the sub model before launching on consoles is exactly because most console gamers fall into the category of players I mentioned. ZOS knew that a sub model wouldn't fly on consoles, and wanted to drop it beforehand to make sure they could get as many players as they could when it launched.Hiero_Glyph wrote: »It is worth noting that ZOS removed the sub requirement before launching on consoles. The game may very well have remained successful on consoels with the sub requirement but for whatever reason ZOS made ESO B2P before the "ADD gamers... forced ZOS' hand".

I think I have the Leopard, but I missed out on the Black Panther.

I never understood how a game studio could sustain itself by selling fluff for absurd prices. This isn't anything personal it's just really surprising to me that these personality types exist in such numbers as to sustain such a whack business model.
I could personally never buy this garbage and it's really hard for me to wrap my head around people who do.

The sub model has been flying on consoles since 2000 and FFXI on PS2. Both PC and PS2 players play on the same server. Its flying again on PS3 with FFXIV. Both PC and PS3 players also play on the same server.

For the purpose of 99% of the discussions where it comes up, there is absolutely no functional difference between B2P and F2P.
Remember when we were all so upset about $2.99 for horse armor in Oblivion?
Good times. Good times.
/sigh...Hiero_Glyph wrote: »Except for the whole not being free part, right? Are you seriously arguing that spending $60 is just semantics? I guess Fallout 4 is F2P too!I love when people argue semantics this...Hiero_Glyph wrote: »Also, ESO is not F2P.
