EU Duel Tournament - Rules and Registration

Hello!

I am posting this on behalf of Lastobeth, who is unfortunately banned from the forums.

We hail from the EU Duelling Guild known as Arena, and we're pleased to announce that we are holding an official duelling tournament. We've done this before and it was extremely successful. We're hoping to emulate that success with this event!

This event is open to anyone who has a V16 character, even those not in Arena (including former members). If you want an invite to the guild just post here and an officer will invite you as soon as possible.

This event will take place at 16.00 gmt+1 on Saturday 28th November 2015. If this event is successful, we will arrange more tournaments - the next event being a 3v3 tournament!
We would encourage everyone to take part, even if you aren't the strongest dueller. It's a great way to learn new things, to interact with your fellow players and just to have fun! Spectators are also welcome.

If you have any specific questions that aren't covered in this thread, please post them here or whisper @Lastobeth in game.

Prizes
1st Place - 100k Gold
2nd Place - 30k Gold
3rd Place - 10k Gold

Registration
If you are interested in joining, please mail @Lastobeth in game with the following information:

- Character Name
- Class
- Faction

Within that mail please include 2.5k gold. This gold is the entry fee, and will go entirely toward covering the prize fund. Mails without this gold will be rejected.

Rules
Initial duels will be subject to a 10 minute timer. Later duels will have that timer extended to 15 minutes. If that timer is exceeded, and neither dueller has died, a panel of three judges (@Lastobeth and two Arena Guild officers) will decide on a winner. Their decision is final.

One duel will run at a time, and they will be moderated by the same panel.

The list of duels will be published shortly after the registration closing date, of Friday 27th November 2015 @ 13:00. Registrations after this date will be rejected.

Initial duels will be selected randomly, chosen from a hat (probably a fedora).

You will not be able to change build - including skills - in between duels. Your build must be the same build throughout. If you are found to be using different skills you will be disqualified!

During duels

You can use food / drinks.
You can use pots.
You can use ultimates (but will expected to start on 0% ulti by using them on a judge prior to the duel starting).
You can't stay in stealth for a period longer than 10 seconds during a duel.
You can't run away from duels, use line of sight or leave the designated duelling area.
You can't make any changes to build or set up during a duel, or call for a pause for any reason. Be prepared to fight when the duel begins.

The decision of the judges / moderators will be FINAL. You cannot disagree with their decision, and poor behaviour during the tournament will result in removal from the guild and / or disqualification.

At this stage, duels will take place on a simple elimination basis. However, this may change if sign ups are very high and depending on the volume from each faction we have sign up (it is very difficult to pre-determine this without first knowing who will be attending!) The campaign on which this takes place will be announced shortly before the event.

If this does change, details will be provided when duels are announced after the registration date.

Nuuu I wanted to take my revenge

Also 20 seconds allowed in sneak during a duel seems a bit too much, I would rather lower this number to 8-10 (~3 cloaks in a row)

I´d just slot three shields on a food build and would have a guaranteed draw - the exact reason why build changes are bad.

The old days (before 1.4) were when 90% of people couldn't afford potions to sustain 30 mins duels, and when ultimates were pretty much an auto win

It's very nice that this tournament is for everyone and not just Arena members, because duels is a good way to become an great PvP player.

Fear and Petrify as well. Bash is a bit worse, but there are some visual bugs for the user as well, making it hard to actually hit the target since he will suddenly port or something.
Banning skills is something we will discuss I think.

Thread updated:

Stealth stuff changed to 10 seconds from 20.

Keep an eye out on the rules section, updates might happen dependsing on what we feel the community wants.

Not telling you guys how to run your tournament but a list of things that I'm considering to take out of NA legend tournaments:

- Shield Breaker (5 Piece Bonus)
- Phoenix Set (5 Piece Bonus)
- Reverberating Bash (And any of its morphs, very buggy CC mechanics involved with this ability)
- Reactive Armor 5 Piece Bonus (Two Players running this set and you're asking for a stale mate) 90% of the time.

Shield breaker is fine as long as the enemy doesn't use Harness Magicka, a skill useless in a fight against Stamina builds anyway (If it weren't bugged). Don't think that the only counter to shields should be taken out.
Otherwise Harness Magicka should be banned since it's buggy since beta, granting Magicka on all incoming dmg sources as long as combined with an another shield.

Bash clearly got problems, but I'm not a fan of banning skills. If we notice that someone lost to this bug or that it happens rather often, we should do something at that point. I mean it's not like other stuns are bug free either.

Reactive Armor might be something to think about.

What about the fact that camo hunter goes through with shield breaker? Even as a non vamp it will still hit on that 4% chance more than often which is stupid enough as it is without going through the shield too.

Then forbid the combination of camo hunter and shield breaker. It's not like you can hide such things in a tourney. Simpel as that.
