Haha man, I get it, but last night I was running on my way to a quest and I passed a higher level fighting some creature out in the world. So I put a single arrow on it as I passed and kept on going. Not far from that, I was getting a little beat up fighting two or three orcs out in the open. They were my level but I mismanaged my attacks. So they got the better of me and I was close to death. I beat the ones in front of me, then realized I was still being hit from behind by a new Orc that was aggro'd without me knowing. I turned around, practically dead and see the Vet I has just passed standing there, watching me. I don't know if it was payback or something, but I barely made it out alive. I thought that was a bit of a jerk move on his part.

It's especially entertaining in Orsinium right now when you see a bunch of lowbies trying to take on a world boss and failing miserably. "LFM [Insert World Boss Here] we're getting our asses kicked!"

I'm perfectly happy to have any levels around in delves, bosses etc. If I'm over leveled and going back for achievements, I'l tag the boss and then sit back and heal. I figure it allows the boss to stay up long enough for any latecomers to get a hit in and I don't miss out on the achievement. Just no ninja invites :)

And aside, @Starshadw, is it the Auridon boss where you need to kill the grabby flower things?

No problem at all. I've been at both ends of that interaction. Kill some stuff and dance a little while waiting for the boss to respawn.

I'm sure I'll get there eventually too. Another time I was grouped with an achievement hunter and I guess I died right before we took on the final boss in a group dungeon. I say I guess because I'm pretty sure I aggro'd that last guy and then got killed. Anyway, I'm dead, dungeon's completed 100%, I don't get the achievement, but my group mate does. Instead of sticking around for the respawn so that I could get the achievement, the dude says, "well that was fun man, can't stick around, bye." He ungroups and logs out. I ended up having to rerun the dungeon with a different group a few weeks later. Some people!

Having come from games where kill-stealing people you weren't partied with was a big no-no, I'm still trying to get a feel for when it's okay to jump in and attack things that people are already fighting and when you should just stand back and let them be. I guess the ESO system is designed so that anybody who participates in fighting something can get loot/exp without harming other people's loot/exp, but I can still never be sure if my joining in will be welcomed.

I can say I appreciate it when there's a stronger player around to kind of clear the way for me, and if I were in the position of being the stronger player I wouldn't mind helping out lower-level people who needed it. Presuming they weren't being rude in some way.

    P. simple actually.

If you see one or two people running around murdering the same mobs over and over, leave them alone, unless you want to get whispers loaded with scathing insults; it's happened to me, for apparently "messing up a rotation" for their grinding, to which I responded by bringing my max level sorc and ruining their grind until they left.

inside a non-cyrodiil dungeon or anywhere else that's scarcely populated, fire away and grab dat loot/exp.

This really comes down to the individual. Some people will mind, some won't. From my point of view if someone is right next to me doing the same thing then I'd rather group up, it seems a little silly not to. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, blah blah!

What I find a little frustrating is when someone that is higher level rushes past and kills the boss without you getting so much as a hit in. I view that as ignorance, but it's more down to poor design than anything.

    Makes sense.

Since there doesn't seem to be any downside to killing things together without grouping, what are the benefits to grouping (other than being able to see where people are on the map)?

I skipped delves after I spent MULTIPLE gaming sessions trying the ENTIRE time to find a group. I don't usually have 5 or 6 hours to play every day like some people. When I sit down to play it's usually at most a 2 hour stretch... and when I spend all of those 2 hours in zone chat like a beggar asking if anyone wants to run the content or waiting for the god-awful LFG tool, I lose the motivation to play the dungeon and figure I'll come back later when I'm stronger.

Especially now since the excitement after launch has subsided and the player base in lower level zones is not what it used to be. You can forget about doing the group delves if you're a new player, or you could be sitting there for a week trying to find someone else to clear the content with. My strategy is to carry a bunch of soul gems, run through the mobs *snare-stun-snare-stun-snare-die-resurrect* repeat this about 20 times until I grab the skyshard and then wayshrine out. I'm not sure if that's how the developers intended this content to be played but sadly that's what it's come to.

Ugh, I just checked and I actually still need THREE of the bosses in Toothmaul. The problem, of course, is that because it's the lowest, it's the one most folks do, so rarely are all the bosses up and available. Some of the later public dungeons, I've gone back to do them and I'm literally the only on in there, and all of the bosses are present.

Doesn't matter to me. I normally just do my thing and try not to kill other players enjoyment of the game. If it looks like they need a hand, I will throw a buff or heal to help out.

As far as vets in nonveteran delves. I just go for the completions. I often level up faster than the areas, so they are not challenging nor rewarding. I just go back when I'm bored and don't feel like doing anything else.

    Agree...
You could ask the opposite question...How do the lower level players feel about higher levels crashing the party cuz they forgot skyshards or achievements?
I personally make sure I dont take all the hits when I have to go back to low levels and I wait for everyone to get some in. I also feel like a jerk standing there at level 35 waiting for a level 7 boss to spawn...

If they want to be there but yiou see health going down - slap the stuff they're fighting or toss them a heal.

    Everyone gets the same loot.

As for what Rudeolf Shitler up there said about grinding- yeah who cares if in the course of your normal play you annoy some grinders. There's no need to 'be a *** right back' like some 9 year old. Just ignore and go about your business. I've often just said in reply to any whispers: 'I need X of these for my quest so take a powder and I'll be done in a minute.'

If I am overleveled in a delve, I certainly don't mind if there is a lower level character with me considering they are the ones who are "supposed" to be there and I am the outsider. Likewise, if an overleveled character in a delve ever complained to me for running around the delve with him on my lower level character, he would get an ignore immediately. If you come to a delve you have overleveled, you have no room to complain about the people trying to do the delve who are actually at level.

The other day I was making my way into a dungeon in Auridon. I got a message to group with this guy. Thinking that he was waiting for someone to help him with this dungeon we were both nearby I agreed.

So the group show as a foursome. Nice, I thought.

The group leader then starts speaking and mentioned me and said that they were going to a Group Dungeon. prolly a pledge one I think. It wasn't even in the AD area.

So I did the right thing and promptly left so that they could make an adjustment because no way was I abandoning my schedule for their pre-planned pledge.

They say you should never assume because it makes an ASS of U and ME, but really, when you see a dude at a dungeon entrance and he invites you to his group and then fast travels to another faction area & expects me to drop what I am doing to go assist them?

If he had explained that he was doing a pledge I might have went and got the quest and arranged to meet them later, but sorry, guys, I cannot drop what I am doing instantly to do your bidding.

Otherwise, I'm good to go if it is mutually beneficial to all parties.

Why am I not surprised?? Richards will be Richards, I guess... Fortunately, I think this type of attitude is an exception... The "Every man for himself" attitude is counter-intuitive to the goals of an MMORPG... I don't like pidgeon-holing people, but this type of attitude probably grinds and farms and other words that sound like staying at work... and rushes through content, so he/she can get good gear drops, so he/she can rush through end-game content, so he/she can whine about the lack of new PvP zones....

Well that's just ridiculous. I can understand randomly inviting someone to group if they're right there at the content you want to do, but randomly inviting them and then expecting them to drop what they're doing and go someplace entirely different to do completely different content? That's flat-out weird.
