ESO LAG 02.11.15 - Performance Issues + it is getting worse with every new patch

    @Veg couldn't agree more.

    You can see the millions of dollars poured into game - it is very pretty nobody can deny that. But the flaws of first designs are not fixable without huge amount of time and money.

    I have heard that many people call ESO baby's first mmo - i didnt understand it at first, game is complex enough not to deserve that name. But after a while i agreed. It is first mmo for quite some players. They simply dont understand what mmo is and what elements are important. It doesnt matter if there are hundreds of solo quests, what should matter is creating the foundation for as much player interaction as possible.

    Otherwise that pve content will always be consumed in a matter of weeks if not days and players will be screaming for more. In effect you will have what we have in ESO - most of the zones half or completely abandoned and crowds in the "new toy". Lack of re playable content, monotony of completing the same content on next characters, lack of rewarding group activities ( and yes ESO has very little of that despite the introduced pledges) means death for lesser titles and for bigger ones long an painful agony. I have seen it before and its not pretty.

    Fantasy MMO in which dungeons are not rewarding besides first run, and eventually pledges is absurd.
    MMO sold as a game with massive pvp (and this was, besides TES lore, selling point for many players) in which that pvp is often unavailable due to lack of population or simply because its unplayable for technical reasons is a grave mistake.

    Put on top of it a series of rushed and not thoroughly tested systems and patches you got a perfect storm on your hands.

    The lack, in ma opinion, of leadership - of someone with strong vision of what the game /he she makes should be vs what can be certainly doesn't help.

    I also gave up for now, and returned to so hated on this forums gw2. It was like a breath of fresh air. The way it is handled by anet comparing to Z. is astounding. For example after expansion some computers had problems on new maps due to their size and most important structure and content. And you know what? 5 days after release anet pushed out beta version of 64 client. Just download 40 mbs file and put it ingame directory - use it to launch the game and although its beta so far no problems for me. Not to mention 1-2 hotfixes every day since patch - "New version of client available" log off download and play again because there is no server downtime. Seems you can do that huh dear Z.?

    Brian does comment on lag and performance issues from time to time. The problem is that whatever ZOS eventually does takes ages and has no observable effect. Generally, it breaks things faster than it repairs them. It is hard to take him seriously.

    Doesn't matter what server or how populated it is.
    It comes and goes, however any battle bigger than 1v1 seems to increase the chances.

    It's not on the player's end.
    When most of my group all exclaim about the lag spike and incoming slideshow at the exact same time, it is no coincidence.
    Some of those players are using $5K cpu's , some others using laptop potatoes , doesn't matter whatsoever.

    The lag, latency, ping, frame, whatever the *** you want to narrow it down to... is Real.
    And is most certainly worse than it was just a couple of weeks ago.

    Like expressed plenty of times in this thread, the FPS lag can be improved by buying better hardwares, by disabling some addons, by reducing ingame graphics, etc. The MS lag during aoe spam battles, however, cannot be improved on the client side.

    Many times after I die in lag (usually by a zerg) and I'm resurrected by another player, all my abilities lose their effects. My flame staff's flame is invisible, my hands dont glow purple when I proc a frag, literially all my attacks are invisable on my screen.

    Is this a common issue? and if it is, wow! This game is clearly not designed or can handle massive AvAvA PvP. Preformance issue only happen when zergs appear. I'm amazed at how long we have been having performance issues in pvp and nothing is being done

    The best computer in the world wont be able to fix server lag... It's like having 1k mbps internet, but you're downloading from a source that can only transmit at 5mbps. Having faster internet won't improve your speeds

    Its weird that the more content added the less stable the game gets. Its probably why they put off adding anything for so long.

    So people who say that it only gets worse have a very short memory. I would say it goes up and down without any major improvements. I am still confident that things will get better at some point.

    CU looks like trash compared to TESO anyway (in my opinion).

    First the CU Screenshots you saw are from pre alpha, that's something Im certain of. The graphics right now are close to eso but still not finished. You really compare a tech alpha without real textures with a finished game like eso? Good job at not informing yourself before posting.

    Anyway I run a gtx 980 + i7 3770k@4.4ghz + 16gb ram, still 12 fps in huge fights.
    My graphic settings don't even matter, the cpu is at the limit and not the gpu I use.
    Even if I play at the lowest possible resolution, the lowest graphic options and without Addons my fps stays low.
    The hardware I use isn't broken or something either, otherwise I wouldn't play Witcher 3 etc. on max settings @ 3440x1440.

    What does it help me to have a ping of 1k instead of 10k? It's still *** and unplayable.

    I like when someone assume that I base my observations on CU on alpha screenshots without even knowing who he is talking to. Well done! Now if you get 12fps with low graphics with the setup you have, it may be addons related, or the fact that you stream and/or record while playing. Otherwise I am clueless. I run the game with V-sync ON at 60fps all the time except during big battles where it drops to 30-40. My fps NEVER go under 30. Maybe having the game run on a SSD helps? I don't think it has an impact on fps, only on the time it takes to start the game and the duration of the loading screens. Other than that, Windows10 maybe?

    Dude I'm not saying that the bad FPS you get and the bad performances is your fault, I have been trying to give potential reasons why you get low FPS and have been trying to figure this out with you. Because on my side, I don't have FPS problems. Now if you wanna talk to me with that attitude, I'm done trying to help.

    I've never said that the hardwares were the only reason why you would get bad FPS, but it is definitely a big plus when you compare i3 and i5 generations to i7. and generations 5-6-7 to generation 9 of nvidia graphic cards.

    Cant expect ppl to buy best hardware just because ZoS cant handle their own stuff - hence forcing ppl invest into new hardware components that "might" solve the problem (which in most cases has been prooven that it dont) ... just saying...

I run the game with V-sync ON at 60fps all the time except during big battles where it drops to 30-40. My fps NEVER go under 30. Maybe having the game run on a SSD helps? I don't think it has an impact on fps, only on the time it takes to start the game and the duration of the loading screens. Other than that, Windows10 maybe?

    Dude I'm not saying that the bad FPS you get and the bad performances is your fault, I have been trying to give potential reasons why you get low FPS and have been trying to figure this out with you. Because on my side, I don't have FPS problems. Now if you wanna talk to me with that attitude, I'm done trying to help.

    I´ve had the exact same issues @soulac is describing on an i7 4790k @4.6 ghz with an gtx980ti throughout all of 1.6. The games fps/performance would just tank during large pvp encounters (i´ve tried everything back then no addons, complete clean install 800x600 resolution - you name it - nothing helped).

    Somehow since i´ve reinstalled the game with 1.7 i no longer have fps issues. Even in the largest fights with the serverside performance going to sh*t 1000+ ping i stay between 30 to 35 fps (on everything maxed apart from 70% viewdistance and no grass).
    The funny thing about this is: My guildmate @yuke how did not have severe fps issues in 1.6 got them introduced in game patch 1.7. There is no explanation as to why it´s happening or how imho. It´s got to be somehow related to gamebuild your own rig and something getting a hickup. I´ve tried it on multiple systems and was not able to reproduce it reliably.

    That´s most likely why people are so infuriated when you try to give hints. Most of the people suffering the problems have tried all you came up with and nothing is helping.

    Once again, I don't understand why everyone complain about lag. I run the game in medium with a 4k resolution (3840x2160) and I get a constant 35-40fps during huge battles. People complaining need to either buy a new computer or to stop being so stubborn at playing the game at high/ultra.

    1) Switch to "medium"
    2) Drop shadows to "low"
    3) Turn off Ambient Occlusion
    4) Buy an i7
    5) Buy a GTX 980
    6) Buy 16gbs DDR3

    And if you are reffering to ping issues, I personally think that it got much better with 1.7. I haven't seen any massive meteor spam since quite some time. Ping still spike to 10k in rare occasions but skills and weapon bars are much more responsive than 1.6.

    So people who say that it only gets worse have a very short memory. I would say it goes up and down without any major improvements. I am still confident that things will get better at some point.

    CU looks like trash compared to TESO anyway (in my opinion).

    First the CU Screenshots you saw are from pre alpha, that's something Im certain of. The graphics right now are close to eso but still not finished. You really compare a tech alpha without real textures with a finished game like eso? Good job at not informing yourself before posting.

    Anyway I run a gtx 980 + i7 3770k@4.4ghz + 16gb ram, still 12 fps in huge fights.
    My graphic settings don't even matter, the cpu is at the limit and not the gpu I use.

    The hardware I use isn't broken or something either, otherwise I wouldn't play Witcher 3 etc. on max settings @ 3440x1440.

    What does it help me to have a ping of 1k instead of 10k? It's still *** and unplayable.

    Thank you for confirming that I'm not the only one not having issues with FPS, I really appreciate it. And regarding people getting infuriated, trust me, I understand their frustrations. I have been playing this game since beta everyday of the week. I have had my share of bad performances. But as far as I'm concerned, I have never declared that people having issues right now were doing something wrong, were lying or were deserving it.

    I gave options to help figuring the problem because I have no idea of what they have been going through already to diagnostic. Just to give you an example, I give technical support at my job and I speak with people with different knowledges everyday. When I don't know the person, I always start with the beginner approach and after a while I figure out what kind of person they are and what kind of language / approach I should adopt with them. Never the other way around. Still not a reason to disrespect me if I suggest a fix that the user have already tried before. I can't know in advance. Know what I mean? It's not like I suggested to reconnect the router anyway. *winks @ ZOS*

    Sorry friend. You won't win that argument with me. I have 4 vet 16 toons on EP. If I want to be in a Zerg I would have stayed EP. I leveled an AD alt to play with a 12-16 man group.

    Players are looking for action. If they see any keep flagged they will go to it. Isn't that the purpose of this game? That's what PVP is designed around. They would have made arena's if they wanted small scale. A Zerg ball is a bunch of unskilled players grouping together to make up for lack of skill.

    If they were out in the middle of no where together fighting or moving from objective to objective with coordination then sure it's a Zerg ball. But when they are at the same flagged objective it is not.

    I get it. It's frustrating when you get run over. That's why I left EP. I wish I could have transferred my main. Grinding sucks. But I did it to leave the Zerg. So I know what a Zerg is. That was not.
