    Because 60 people all spamming AoE abilites and having to make a check for every single player it hits would only make ESO lag. Assuming the AoE cap is like, 6 or something, that's (at most) 180 checks for each side that can potentially happen at the same time. So at most, there probably like 400 checks going out (educated guess) every 5 seconds in a 30v30, and that doesn't even include healing ticks.

    This is also going off the assumption that checks are different for each skill, and that I actually know what a check is, from my knowledge, a check normally consists of a line of sight registration, where the game checks if the target is able or unable to be hit by an attack due to obstacles or the lack thereof, and the registration of the attack, where the game has the register the damage on player hit, thus taking health from the player, or giving health.

    I'm not gonna say I expect the game to be lag free, but I'm also not going to say the devs should be sitting around doing nothing, which they probably aren't, and if you actually think they do, then I have to ask how dumb you are to be playing a game that isn't being worked on.

    I tried, but patience is gone. There have been so many suggestions etc, not a single "Yes this could work" or "no that does not work because of XY"

    WTF are you guys talking about. The "We are ESO" Podcast straight up said "The people in charge of balance are inept" and "don't know what the **** they are doing". "Devs" are all up in that thread praising it. They might remove this thread but I think his forum account is safe unless they just want to be jerks about it.

    To those that want small scale PvP (Arenas, battlegrounds etc ), I can already see a post on the forums saying "good news everyone! Arenas are coming to eso (only for 2500 crowns)!! So they pretty much disappointed us with how Cyrodiil is and then they'll bait us with DLC exclusive arenas, which we'll have to pay again (and also most likely they'll completely ignore Cyro from then on).

    If that happens, EA will definitely create an forum account just to congratulate ZOS for their "business move"..

    Oh CU is shaping up quite nicely, and the communication between devs and players/backers is so good I almost get annoyed (but not really, haha) with all the updates they send out via email, and you can pretty much count on getting dev responses and discussion on the official forums and subreddit. Hell, they livestream devs just working on the game. I suspect once CU gets underway later next year it will be very attractive to the PvP-centric and sandbox MMO crowds. The combat, class, stats, and environment systems are incredibly in-depth and open-ended, with each influencing the other to boot.

    + no bullshjt pve grind :) - lvling thru killing ppl, i know all about this game i m "mr.warrior" ... And the thing u mentioned, that they communicate "better" with the "backers" - well thats the reason i wld say, WE freakin pay for the game to be made :D... No but rly, the game is goin to be great.

    Not only do AoE mechanics encourage lazy game play they also place a disproportionate burden on the server with LoS and Loc checks. Even with the AoE caps in place it still causes a huge performance hit when large AoE centric groups collide.

    Zos need to watch what their doing, gw2 have just released an expansion that is pretty damn good it has to be said, and the interesting thing is their wvw is massive and gorgeous, the fights can be huge - and with everyone aoeing with massive effects and synergies, it's an eye opener that's for sure, as it highlights how badly eso is doing pvp perf wise.

    I returend to gw2 after expansion and i must say its like a breathe of fresh air. Compared to ESO game is so polished in many ways, from wvw, spvp to all qol issues regarding ui... You might not like the game because of art style or character pf it but damn anet knows their job.

    Edit: And you know what really pisses me off? That we, who love pvp in ESO are always told, that we are very small miniority. But look at that:

    You can clearly see a spike on IC release, but show me the huge spike with orsinium. Where are all those pve crowds? Granted its just steam but i think its safe to say pvp is (was?) a backbone of ESO and sad reality is that without healthy pvp this game is gone.

    So I was pvping today (its been a while)

    and ...bloody hell the amount of Lag out there is just god awful...Everything felt like I was fighting in quicksand...

    Ping was either 170+ pretty much the whole time....or the FPS would randomly do that 17 BS from days past.

    Game just ran like crap..

    Forward camps used to bring the most terrible lag. You have a bad memory. People would swarm out of those camps from everywhere on the map over and over and over and over for 30mins until the whole freaking factions are all in the same area causing huge FPS losses.

    Are you actually compairing the graphics of GW2 with TESO? lmfao

    Once again, I don't understand why everyone complain about lag. I run the game in medium with a 4k resolution (3840x2160) and I get a constant 35-40fps during huge battles. People complaining need to either buy a new computer or to stop being so stubborn at playing the game at high/ultra.

    1) Switch to "medium"
    2) Drop shadows to "low"
    3) Turn off Ambient Occlusion
    4) Buy an i7
    5) Buy a GTX 980
    6) Buy 16gbs DDR3

    Enjoy

    And if you are reffering to ping issues, I personally think that it got much better with 1.7. I haven't seen any massive meteor spam since quite some time. Ping still spike to 10k in rare occasions but skills and weapon bars are much more responsive than 1.6.

    So people who say that it only gets worse have a very short memory. I would say it goes up and down without any major improvements. I am still confident that things will get better at some point.

    CU looks like trash compared to TESO anyway (in my opinion).
