Of the Nightblades and Sorcerers I have partied with, the Nightblades were capable of carrying the entire party or soloing the dungeon if necessary. They are not the average, run-of-the-mill Nightblades, so I am not voting for in general, but for within my circle of friends.
Preyfar, Kosmoko,
I'm talking about you two.
Way to carry a Level 47 through a Vet 16 Pledge and carry the party's DPS in Vet DSA.
Makes me both proud of knowing you two and ashamed of my atrophying skill. :'(
Physical obligations, I curse thee!

One of each, they each perform a different role and I have seen amazing players on both capable of soloing/carrying entire groups through just about anything. As far as PvE goes, it's the player, not the class.

Since the role wasn't specified, I'd go with Nightblade. Nightblades provide great DPS. Stamina variant deals massive damage and has high mobility along with utility, on the other hand the Magicka variant provides high amounts of off-heals and very high sustained DPS. Nightblade tanks are among the most self-sufficient, not requiring shards and provide off-healing to the group. While we're having a stamina NB and a Magicka NB DPSing and a NB Tank, having a NB Healer is great. Even more Healing over Time effects running on the whole group and the ability to deal massive DPS when active healing is not needed, which is pretty darn often with all the off-heals the group composition provides.

From patch notes long forgotten:
"Fixed an issue if you had a summoned pet, it could potentially be grabbed by an invisible Molag-Bal and get stuck in a floating posture."
"Dogs can no longer teleport while chasing cats (much to the disappointment of the dogs)."
I would prefer Templars and especially Dragonknights for dps.
I have seen some very very strong stamina Nightblade DPS either. So I just choose Nightblade here.
But my number 1 choice would be Dragonknight.
Every time I had Sorcerer DPS in my groups, it was taking forever. I would never take a Sorcerer as a DPS, I only play my Sorcerer as a tank.
And since Sorcerer is not really good at any role, only mediocre, I would never even let a Sorc in my group anymore. I usuallly ask them to leave.
Always had good experience with Nightblade DPS, mostly stamina.

Auri-El is my lord,
Trinimac is my shield,
Magnus is my mind.
Is this poll more the op trying ti decide which to play, if so nb as they make good tanks, dps and healers - where as sorcs make great dps the other to role require mire skill to play at a competent level
If we're talking about PuG DPS classes, then Sorcerer every time. It seems like the vast majority of NB's in PuG's are PvP ganker spec'd and do laughable AoE damage. Go back to Cyrodiil please.
If I got to choose a set up it would be one of each. 1 DK Tank(cause that's what I am :P) 1 Templar healer , 1 Sorc Dps and 1 NB Dps. The group will then have 3 people capable of executing really well and the NB can help out the healer a bit if he is magicka based. I also love to have sorcs around because most of them us liquid lightning which is another synergy I can use as a tank. As well one of each just looks and feels nice.
Depends a lot.
Most sorcs in PUGs are truly terrible at staying alive. When I heal I dislike sorcs since somehow sorcs manage to get oneshoted the most. A lot of sorcs also manage to snip the easiest to achieve DPS also.
When It comes to my magicka DPS NB and Sorc. I think Sorc is just simpler to use compared to a magicka NB which is much more involved. I prefer my NB though even though Sorc beats it in every aspect.
