Brand New Armor Trashed in One Day of Gameplay

You might be surprised to know that armor wear is mostly based on how much damage you deal to the enemies and has little to nothing to do with how much you get hit.

That being said, I can wear down a set of armor in about 30 minutes of mob grinding. I just keep on going after that and repair it when I have time.

It is associated with gaining experience actually. Even exploring, as the loading screen tooltip states, can take its toll.

But yeah, maintenance is maintenance. Just get some savings built up and no worries!

Ha!. Repair is expensive! It's much cheaper to recraft, but I'll run out of mats, not to mention time recrafting everyday...

This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen posted on these forums (and that's saying a lot). Armor repair is part of everyday game play. Lol, try recrafting your legendary end game gear when it takes damage.

Projecting a little? Or just failing at reading comprehension? I am nowhere near legendary end gear.

I have found that even if a sparrow farts in the general vicinity of your character, your armour degrades. Travelling degrades your armour, doing quests to get a necklace by going into a house degrades your armour too.

It has to be the environment of Tamriel, it has to be. Imagine if real life had these problems of our clothes just falling off due to having to travel to a shop to buy milk and having a random hot dog vendor patch them up before you get arrested by the local constabulary for indecent exposure. Okay, I may have read into it too much but the level of losing durability of high level armours and clothing is way too fast.

Eh... I think you were missing his sarcasm. Clearly the practice of re-crafting gear once you are at cap is not an option due to the high investment required for obtaining all the mats or the sets themselves as most are dropped. Plunking down a little gold to repair as you play is the norm which you are not presently practicing as at your level there is no real need if you don't want to.

Insulting someone is not sarcasm. It's just plain rude. Especially if you're not understanding the situation. Just makes you look dumber.

Why waste money on repair? The mats are free.

I created my first crafted light armor sets (V3 Torugs, and Seducer), and after one day of playing in Cadwell's silver first 2 zones, it's almost totally trashed. In particular unstunnable ghosts and wisps in Crow's Wood, and enemies with ranged attacks.

Is this a L2P issue or normal when getting ganked by mobs of uncontrollable monsters?

Dam I wish mine lasted a day!

it cost so much to repair I don't bother, I upgrade my gear every 3 Vet levels, but never repair during this time, my regen gets crap but I can cope with that rather than waste 1000g every hour to repair armour thats never been touched.

Armour damage is bugged like everything else in this game, we used to have to go naked to craft as this damaged your armour.

Yeah I realized that. And as far as why waste money on repairs - which you added to your post after I replied to you --- I already answered that. Mats at your level are free but at vet level it is another story. So you don't need to worry about that right now, as you are not vet level.

Well I have not played a single MMO that did not have repair costs. Even single player games I have played have had them, so not sure why this is so surprising really. But you have your work around it for now, and do many players doing the same. If you are going to outlevel a piece of gear in a few hours there is little point in repairing it when mats and drops are easy to come by.

I am vet 3 and materials are easy to find in caldwell's silver. I have so much extra Kresh weed I sold 100 units. I know that will change in eventually.

Well that's a screwy mechanic. Why should xp gain affect armor?

Because *** tanks and any meele else?
why should a tank be punished to have the highest cost of a daylie run?

I don't think I said that is was good, I just said that is what we got same as other games. You don't have to like it but you do have to deal with it obviously. HOW you deal with it is up to you.

Maybe they are partners of gold sellers. You buy gold to pay your repairs. Durability in this game is ridicoulous.

True but not this faster. After 30 minutes your armor is broken. IT IS RIDICOULOUS.

Seriously people moaning about repair costs? It's only a few thousand gold a pop. And in somewhere like the sewers the time grinding is enough to open vaults for loot

One days grinding netted me nearly 300k worth of stuff in the guild store, money is so easy to come by later on in life.

for lvling wear the drops you recieve below vet ranks it doesent matter at all. and is a lot cheaper as worn down equip sells for as much as perfect items.

the reason is they implemented a downgrade system that uses xp gathered to determine the item "destruction" and not like in other games beeing hit etc. ...

    ......

Why would you ever even think of recrafting your gear just because it gets broken?

Do you know how much gold I got from leveling a character from level 1 to vr14?

500k gold. Just from picking up loot and vendoring it.

Do you know how much it costs to repair your gear? Not much, is the answer to that.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be offensive here it's just that I literally cannot comprehend your reasoning as it seemingly defies all logic. Perhaps I'm missing something here?

Now that I'm playing almost exclusively in PvP I forget to even repair my armor. When I do it's like 53 gold. And that's for repairing a full VR16 gold set. So come to Cyrodiil and never worry about armor repair costs again! Now repairing walls and doors on the other hand.. ;D

You do know that if you're a crafter you don't just sell everything? I don't grind my levels going for the easy and fast way to get xp and gold in the ic and cyrodil. Just playing through the campaigns is more interesting to me.

Yeah I know you don't sell everything if you're a crafter, but getting your crafts to max shouldn't take so long if I recall correctly, and you should at least sell something.

The 500k I mentioned was also attained by playing the game as intended. By playing the game as intended, I'm going to go ahead and assume that grinding is not intended. Meaning I did all the quests in each zone. Only from questing, killing the mobs associated with the quests and selling loot, the character I spoke of attained 500k gold.

Granted, it's going to be less if you're focussed on getting your crafts learned, but you should still get more than enough to sustain yourself....

But in the end I guess, if you feel like recrafting everything when it breaks, be my guest. It's your experience after all, not mine.
