What are you talking about? Crystal Frags only looks good on paper. Wrecking Blow hits hard in game, where it counts.

When my Sorc was a Magicka build, my Frags were critting for 20K on Mammoths and Giants. Sounds great, right? Problem is, all the FOTM Stam builds are wearing Medium or Heavy or a mix of both, and my Frags were lucky to crit for 4K in the IC. Of course, Stam builds get to block, too, without completely depleting their Stamina!

Wrecking Blow, on the other hand does 12K damage on Light Armor once your shield goes down. 12 FREAKIN' K!

    SOQexiK.jpg

I've NEVER seen my Frags hit this hard in PvP, and I've never been hit with one that hard, either.
Lol, quality name censoring there. The worst thing about WB is that it buffs your next attack by a considerate amount, so if that's another WB and it crits, and your shield is down.. ouch.

Im going to hopefully say this for the last time... so much miss information on this... WB DOES NOT GRANT EMPOWER BUFF TO THE NEXT WB PPL.... so if you use wb wb wb wb light attack... the only attack that will have the empower buff is the light attack

    Please get this right ppl

Youre expecting too much. People actually being informed. Blasphemy.

On my Death Recap out of 5 abilities that killed me, Crystal Frags hit me for 4 times for 5-6k+ each.

Is this normal? Is it supposed to proc so often like this? I ain't got a Sorc, so.

Screenshot woulda been nice. I don't know what you were doing to let a sorc hit you 4 times with crystal frags? If it was multiple sorcs I can understand that though.

Anyway, I feel like my frags proc about 1/3 of the time which matches the tooltip. I consider a good hit 7k (depends on target's mitigation of course) though I'll take what I can get. Once CLS showed my frags hit someone for 300-something dmg which was a bit nuts..
Disabling the grass may improve performance.

To answer on your topic: Yeah, that's normal.
A frag has a 35% Chance to be Ready After using an ability. So that guy probably was super lucky and had insta frag proc 4 times in a row like

    Ability X (insta proc)
Ability X (insta proc 2nd time)
Ability X (insta proc 3rd time)
Ability X (insta proc 4th time)

If my math is right(I'm definetly not a friend of that xD)
    The chance to have 4 in a row is: 0,35*0,35*0,35*0,35 = 0,01500625
This is a chance of ~1,5%

    Rare, but still possible.
But you mentioned he wasn't alone anyway (4 people?) so maybe they used some Chrystal frags on you, too?

Yeah I gotta admit, DKs have it better when it comes to frag spammers with our wings. I've played sorc before and yes, frags procs constantly. I put it on both bars so it would proc no matter what spell I was casting, and I think it's something like a 40% chance? So even when they're buffing they can proc this bad boy.

Oh, and bro, you're not alone either. Keeping in mind this is on BWB, so around the 2.5k mark is decent damage for an insta cast spell with knock down effect

Not the same at all. For one there is also a spell resist passive that has no requirements on top of the reduce magicka damage passive. Second of all the armor passive requires you to have good armor rating already to be effective. Not very useful for light armor users.

I've known pvp MMORPGs (ultima online for ex) where CCs were nowhere near as painfull as in this game.

Agreed with laced. When I was playing ultima online back in the early days of factions, there was only one paralyse spells and you would break from it so easily by opening a trapped box in your inventory. And players had far less hps compared to spells power, it was all about timing your attacks/healing.

Plus I never said remove all CCs from the game, I said remove the one that knocks you down, even more cause CC break is totally fked up. Pvp atm is a joke tbh.

Something else on the topic of WB vs. CF....

Can someone explain to me why it's so much harder to hard-cast Frags within melee range than Wrecking Blow? Why would there be any difference? Think about it. The cast time of the two abilities is EXACTLY the same, but the results seem very different (in my experience).

As long as my enemy is within the 7 meter range, I can connect a Wrecking Blow time after time, no matter how much they dance around or whatever they are doing. Hard casting Frags, on the other hand, is a VERY different story. For some reason I have yet to determine, my casts of Frags very often fail to complete. I'm not saying they dodged the projectile, I'm saying the projectile never "fired" in the first place!

Shouldn't the underlying mechanics of a hard cast CF be pretty similar to a WB? Does anyone know what's going on? Is it something I'm doing wrong, or is it something the enemy is doing right?

dont shoot a projectile in melee range. wrecking blows sole purpose is melee ranged attack. common sense to me.

I assume someone just casted it multiple times on you. Next time watch your opponent and use crushing shock (or any other interrupt) when he starts casting.

It was vs 4 other enemies, otherwise I'd have interrupted him for sure.

So your saying you got hit by 4 different crystal frags... what exactly is the problem then?

    cast instant c-frags
    cast crushing shock(C-frags procs)
it should be something like that. There are plenty of spells that can proc c-frags so crushing shock is just example.

Thanks for that information, as a naive player i read the descriptions and used logic and choice the morph "Force Pulse", which combined with "crystal Fragments" enable me to do 1,250 dps at VR16. Just enough to annoy a mudcrab and then get killed by it.

I'll use my credit card and get some crown points to respec the morphs.

Why use crowns? Its the cheapest at the alters to change Morphs... like 1k gold at most. 5k gold to change all points.

Why should a Crystal Frag work any differently at 7 meters than 28 meters? I don't get it.

Anyway, I did some research and maybe found the answer to my question. Wrecking Blow can NOT be interrupted, but apparently Crystal Shard/Frag/Blast CAN. I don't know if that's the only issue, but it would explain why it's so hard to get off a cast Frag in PvP compared to PvE. The PvP players might be bashing me every time I try to cast for all I know... it's hard to tell what's going on when everything is happening so fast.

No the post i originally quoted referred to a reduce physical damage cp which there is none. You could argue that increasing physical resistence is physical damage reduction but thats a different argument and it would just mean there are two reduce magicka damage cp lines: one for spel resist and one for reducing magicka damage directly.
