How often do players accept your truce in pvp IC?

a truce means someone looks at you and holds up block (showing as a shield to the other player). It means, i do not want to attack you, please do not attack me, and we can go about our own business. it is a courtesy to other players to accept this truce. obviously a truce would not work against a zerg.

Two days ago while finishing Explorer achievements on totally yellow map, I left some dunj and met some blue guy who was fighting with mobs.
I was bit higher and caught him right during the fight so I had the advantage. I've knocked him down aaand decided that It'd be wrong if I'd get some small ammount of AP and he'd need to run to that dunj across all map again.
    So I simply run away.

That was the only time I faced some peaceful PvP end.
Was ganked while doing things in Cyro tonns of times.

I didn't do that (good advice though) but I once teamed up with a DC against an AD outpost. does that count or is that different? the dominion in my experience so far has absolute zero care in truces.

I expect other players to attack while I'm solo questing in Cyrodiil but it would be nice if they wouldn't or if there was a way around it. Big pain in the a** when you get killed by other players when trying to complete a quest. Goes with the territory though.

Active blocking is not that common in an mmo, so not universal.

I've had a few occasions while wandering about Cyrodiil or the Imperial City where this technique has worked.

One time, in a Cyrodiil delve, I encountered an AD player. We worked together to clear the delve, picking up goodies and whatnot along the way, and then parted with some dancing and laughing emotes.

Another time, a group of enemy players were working with a member of my alliance to help him gain the emperorship. After a bit of misunderstanding as to what was going on — my group killed several of the EP players (I'm DC) — PSN messages were exchanged and an accord reached.

I think it's cool when this sort of stuff happens, but your mileage may vary.

Ahh so this is where I've gone wrong. I usually try the /surrender emote but that only works if I get a second to type it. Once some kind EP players left me alone . I think they could tell I was questing..or rather pathetic since i was running away from a mob :D .Thank you to those lovely players :#

Another time I walked into a delve and two players ran up to me and killed me. I don't think they accepted my truce :p Perhaps if I try blocking it might work more often :#

I've never tried to truce in IC - I'm usually trying to haul my arse out of there before being spotted.

I generally only go into IC in Axe when EP has access, though. It's much less stressful that way.

Tonight I was dueling with one guy I found in a delve and the fight ended with unintentional truce when I got stuck on some cage and couldn't get out and we wasn't able to kill each other. Funny thing is and earlier during the fight he got stuck there as well two times, but I knocked him out each time.

Holding up block is not exactly a passive or peaceful gesture. At least I do not perceive it as such.

If a player has a single stripe (i.e. is a recruit), more often than not I will leave her be. If a low ranked player is aggressive or playing in a away that is just bad for PvP (last week a recruit rode up to an enemy keep on his horse), I will whisper advice if they die quickly.

If you are a sergeant and this isn't your first rodeo, we are in a PvP zone so let's PvP. If the fight gets drawn out because we can't kill each other, I will respect a player's desire to disengage to do something else.

That's a very kind and respectful way of playing <3 You sir, are an honourable gentleman...gentlewoman? . This damsel approves..If we meet..my alliance rank is 3..so don't kill me, because I'll most likely kill myself anyway ,falling off a cliff or running into a mob while picking flowers :p

One of my very favorite stories in this game was when someone refused my truce.

I came across someone exploring Cyrodiil solo (I was also solo.) He was level 25-30 and I'd just hit VR4. I decided to be nice and leave him alone, since he was right next to a lore book and not far from a Skyshard. I just looked at him and started backing away, not in stealth.

He attacked me, probably figuring I intended to do the same. I did nothing but block, dodge roll, and heal for a solid 2-3 minutes. I was trying to make it obvious that I didn't want to fight by jumping around and bunny hopping on top of a nearby cart. He didn't get the hint.

Eventually I was down to about 40% health and running low on Magicka, so I had to act. I burst him down in all of about 10 seconds. Felt bad because the guy was deep in enemy territory, far from a spawn, but I gave him every chance.

once in the imperial city, i badly wanted to skip the horrid load screen, and die to a player to skip sewers and go straight to cyro wayshrine. i walked up to an EP player, and stood directly in his face. he waved and started dancing. i smacked him with a light attack, he blocked, /surrender, then danced again. i again smacked him 3 more times with a light attack, he ran and stealthed. then he came back and danced again. not sure if troll, or too passive for his own good

Never heard of blocking as a truce.

Seen dancing, jumping, bowing and waving as truces in Cyrodiil...
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

The other day I met some guy who wasn't agressive, after some fun stuff he ask me if I want to duel, I said yes, but he was obviously superior and didn't even finish me off. I was really humbled by his humility, since I'm not being that nice myself.

I play as AD on an EP pop-locked campaign, where the AD & DC population is almost never any more than empty - I have a bit of a running truce with DC, as it feels daft for the 2 AD players on the campaign to fight the 2 DC whilst there is an EP zerg in every district - and the DC guys seem to feel the same way.

Blocking means truce? Some guy tried pulling that on me and I just thought, "I'm going to smite this perma-blocking piece of garbage". It actually made me more angry than thinking "he wants a truce".
