What's Wrong, Zenimax? What's the Issue?

Hello everyone, and how are you today? I'm fine, if anyone was curious. But, I personally want to know how ZOS is doing. Because all and all, decision after decision, I really don't think they're "okay". It seems like mistake after mistake is being made, and while I accept AND understand that we are all human... Some of these things, are just... Not acceptable. Allow me to explain.

The first thing is the game (ESO) itself. As in the mechanics of the game. Whether it be the amount of Tel Var Stones lost in the Imperial City DLC, or the fact that you only have a chance of obtaining the new crafting mats in the Orsinium DLC... While the new writs which ask for said new mats, have a chance to yield horrible rewards upon completion. OR! We can take an even further step back. Let's look at the Veteran Rank system and Champion Point system. Wasn't it supposed to be removed a long time ago? Why is it October 2015, and not only is the system(s) still around -- but new Veteran Ranks were added? C'mon now. And then to go on ahead and admit in a broadcast how you KNEW something was flawed. But, you choose to go on ahead and implement it whilst knowing the high-chance of things backfiring? Something can't be right at these developer meetings you all are having. I'm sorry, but no. It can't be. I'm a programmer (primarily) for my source of income, and if I choose a stunt like that? Not only would I be looking for another job, but my reputation as a reliable programmer would be in the dirt somewhere. And I probably wouldn't be able to get legitimate work anywhere in the states, and would have to work offshore from then on after my screw-up.

Next up, are the unbalanced classes/skills. Do you (ZOS) even play your own game...? Do you PVP, Zenimax...? And no, I don't mean just to test a few things for a week or so. I mean, are you actively apart of your own PVP community? Because if you did, I think you'd have a more "clear" understanding of what the community has been saying. And no, I'm not talking about the "nerfs". I'm talking about in the overall aspect of classes and their respective skills. Wrecking Blow bugs, the Rearming Trap shenanigans, Shield Breaker hijinks, etc. Now I admit, I may not be a rocket scientist. But, I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to know when something is clearly wrong. Cloak having no cool down, or requiring more magicka for each use, etc. You can do better. OR! Better yet! You can do what you SHOULD'VE BEEN DOING and stop having skills overall being effected, just because of things in PVP being abused or exploited. Why? Because, you're clearly hurting the PVE'ers. Let certain skill "fixes" strictly effect PVP, and not effect PVE. Or certain mechanics overall (e.g. stamina regeneration whilst blocking). And yes, I'm aware. It now requires more effort than standing still, and holding block to be a reliable tank. But, I think you really hurt the tanking community of this game badly. Very, very, badly. And don't sit there and LIE in front of everyone's faces, and say it's because of the PVE'ers that stamina regeneration while blocking was done. I've NEVER read OR heard of someone who PVE's complain of their group's tank blocking nonstop, and continuing to regenerate stamina. Never! But, have I read it and heard it from a PVP'er? Yes. Certainly. And the same applies for dodge rolling. But, let's move on.

Lastly, I must say that what you're doing to your own game is suicide. It's like a virus is spreading in the ESO developer community's veins, and the community can't even remedy it. Why? Because, you ignore a large portion of it. Unless, it's a "nerf this" thread, or something completely off the wall and irrelevant. For example, how were you helping the community of players who play this game by putting the Glass armor motif in the Crown Store? That was a tremendous slap in the face of crafters. And whilst the crafting community was healing from that brutal hit, you repeatedly beat them in the wound with the amount of crafting materials required for Veteran Rank 16 armor. Are you serious? And while they are looking at you to stop in the PTS, and begging for you to stop? You put it live, and ignore the pleas to cease. Oh, and you know the next question. This is bad, ZOS... And what's up with you and the layoffs? Someone PLEASE get a templar to heal these wounds at Zenimax. I have hope for you ZOS... But please... PLEASE! Fix "it", whatever "it" is.

LOVED IT! You forgot one thing! ESO Live it is just a waste of time, they never answer any of the important questions players ask. Also it may be a small thing but they need to have us all in on the jokes if they are going to keep laughing when doing ESO Live. A lot of us think you are just laughing at us for never answering the important questions the players are asking.

I hope you get it and understand it at some point if not then just stop doing ESO Live!

The main issue with this game is veteran rank and not Cp. The gear is the key(legendary set) and then the Cp.

Just image a gear set with twice born boon and with divine trait, that toon can compete well in PvP even without Cp.

Zos, is trying to cover it with Cp, nerf and what not.

All I can say is that I've been trying to leave Obsidian Scar (cave in Rivenspire) for about 2 hours. I can't get out. I get the message that "this may take any unusually long amount of time" but enough is enough. I even shut the power off and waited for about an hour. Signed back in and am still stuck.

By the way ... I tried to beat this cave alone and failed. Could have used some help but apparently not too many folks visit Rivenspire. Probably because they get stuck in various places and can't move.

Corporate Greed. Thats what 'it' is. Turning games into second jobs that you feel the need to actually drop the money you have, that you earned in your real job, into it to make it even easier on you to enjoy. Its quite a sadistic set up if you really start to objectively look at these B2P/F2P games.

Instead of earning your money. They squeeze you emotionally and psychologically.

I agree, and they are listening the community, most of the time they listen to the whiners of the forum, look at dodge roll monkeys nerf or perma escaping sorc or to the whiners that cryed rivers because you could be 1 shotted by an arrow atc.. the stamina nerfs, the champions points seasonal cap(idea by deltia's) or the nb of the firs times? did u remember at launch how useless was an nb ? There are many example and is all well written here in this forum , since the game launch, i can say that the devs listen to the community. You must considering that is not easy to change things and make all the community happy. Imagine if they listen to 100% of every single suggestion or QQ thread in the forum how crappy the game will be?

All I can say is, "Thank you." Thank you to all of those who have replied, and will continue to reply to this thread. It truly needs to be viewed (in my opinion), and taken to heart. By both the players and developers, although it's primarily aimed at the developers and big wigs at Zenimax. Because, "this" isn't healthy. "This" being the state of which the game is in, and the direction it is headed in. And it's just... I just had to get all of this off my chest. It felt like I was suffocating from holding in so many "rants", and issues and figured I'd just drop a lot of it all at once. Because honestly? I figured there were others who had similar feelings I had. And sure, there's plenty of things I didn't cover. Such as console not receiving text support (or rather it being enabled), and Zenimax refusing to give a VALID reason as to why they're doing what they do in regards to the topic of a voice chat. But, that and those things aside. I just wanted to thank everyone.

And lastly, to you Zenimax... Are y'all okay, man? If something is truly wrong, don't be afraid to tell your users and players. That's what a community is there for. It's for the developers and users to interact, and for constructive advice to be shared between the 2. Please don't be like so many communities, where you (the developers) brush-off what your community is not only telling you, but telling you constantly. It's bad as it is, you all have copy-and-paste responses which you submit under circumstances, where it's not warranted. And yes, it's expected for you to be unable to answer all of your user's questions and respond to them. But c'mon now... Really though, speak-up if something is truly wrong. Because as thread has proven and numerous others... We (this forum and overall community) is here to assist fixing "it", if you just give us a chance.

Compared to how this game was at launch vs when sage left and lambert took over? There has been such a great improvement, problem is people are wanting it all at once, and ZOS are stressing themselves out over it, I mean look at all the content and how they are fixing up the combat and all the unbalances between classes and roles.

I must say that what you're doing to your own game is suicide. AGREED. This may seem like some doom and gloom post but something needs to be done. ZOS we need you to tell us you are listening and communicate with the community that sustains your game.

ZOS please learn from other's mistakes. You've all done a whole lot of things right with ESO's design (combat, character animations, gorgeous world, great interfaces, generous crown store for the most part) and gone so far yet make so many disastrous mistakes. As an MMORPG veteran it breaks my heart to see one mistake after another which directly corresponds to another one of my friends leaving the game.

Take a page out of the failures that WOW, RIFT, SWTOR, FFXIV avoid them and do what they do right and look deep into why people keep playing the games they love for months, years. Instead of trying to pressure players into grinding/spending a ridiculous amount (of time) to be able or stay competitive (VR/CP/IC MATS), please work on how you design and implement your content so players actually want to play ESO.

Make it fun because all we have is pvp right now and it's just ok. Grinding PVE MOBS in circles for X hours a day is not fun, it's not endgame. It's the most rewarding way to play the game so I presume it's how you intend for players to play the game.

Reward the players for taking part in actual content and release content that's engaging, exciting and is for groups. I'd personally like to see new trials (RIFT's Hammerknell), a guild housing system (FFXIV's), mini-games for the community to enjoy. If me and X of my friends log into the game and we want to do something together that's simply fun even rewarding in ESO, what do we do?

This is true. I contacted "customer service" on another issue THREE times and every time the response was exactly the same. "We're sorry but due to a high volume of emails we aren't able to help you. Please go the forum or do a Google search for your answer." Why even have a link to "customer service" is they don't plan on serving their customers? Oh well ... I finally got out of Obsidian Scar. That's what matters the most.

1. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to recognize a passive-aggressive assault. "oh hi Zenimax just wanted to check on you because clearly you are going mad from all the mistakes I believe you are making and cannot fix them." Come on now, that is so totally a passive insult, and yes I am aware that is not your wording but it is generally the same concept.
2. Yes of course I ignored the rest of the post after the way you introduced it because I knew it was purely a hate complaint. Plus it's a wall of text, ain't nobody got time for that (except the other members of the Zenimax haters club of course lol)
3. You already said that closing in the last post. If you're going to dismiss me then at least try to ignore my posts, otherwise you only seem to welcome my point for the sake of arguing it lol

Another thread about saying ZOS this and ZOS that and do you even play and bla blab yes yes we all heard it before. The real problem is that ZOS appearntly only listens to cry babies and the like 5 popular streams who appearntly speak for us.

NEWS FLASH cry babies don't know what real balance is and the streamers DO NOT in any way speak for us the community so pleases ZOS stop for the love of Nirn stop listing to them.
