Tonight I was soloing in the IC districts collecting skyshards and looking for containers to loot, but was frequently jumped on by five or more EP players. (I'm AD.) Even though I tried to stay in stealth, it isn't always possible because of where the mobs are located. Soon as I would come out of stealth to clear a mob out of my way, the EP gankers swarmed. They also hung around the respawn area and also around the door to the next district. The PvP aspect makes doing quests and looting containers nearly impossible. If you're in a group, the group wants to PvP and kill mobs, not do the quests or take the time to loot containers. But if you go solo, it's crazy frustrating to be constantly jumped on by players of another faction while trying to follow a quest line.

Please don't misunderstand...I'm not blaming the other players for jumping me. It's the way IC is designed. Just when I would get a mob nearly dead, the other players would pounce. A couple would finish off the mob and the others would finish me off. Finally, I got angry and shut my computer off.

It isn't enough that ZOS gimped all players when 1.6 was released and effectively knocked everyone's progress back. It isn't enough that ZOS just did the same thing with this new release, effectively making us have to rebuild all our characters. No... Now they've put vr15-16 quests, crafting, mats and more in one limited, very frustrating zone. I've been continuously subbed to this game since March 2014, and tonight is the first time I've felt like giving it up.

    EXACTLY!

The one thing that -really- annoys me is how often someone charges in to kill you when you are busy fighting some mob in hopes of grabbing your stones. They wait until you are low on health, and then try to get in a killing blow...
I kind of accidentally did this yesterday. I was solo questing in IC (I had done half the district quests in a small group previously, so I was doing the rest), I saw someone fighting a group of mobs, and I rushed in to help. Well, I clearly wasn't paying close enough attention (likely because I'm really not used to PVP), because it was actually an enemy player, so my AoE abilities hit him too. As soon as I realized I stopped attacking and tried to do a /dance, but it was too late - he figured I was trying to gank him while he was hurt and distracted by his fight, and he slaughtered me. I can't say that I blame him.

Lol his 3 am is someone else's midnight.

You are way better off making friends and grouping up.

You might even be able to convince a group of PvP oriented players to shadow you and use your questing patterns as a method to bait tankers that your shadow PvP guys can counter gank,

I am often the bait in PvP questing. I go over to the quest giver while the rest of the boys stay in stealth. I share the quest with my group so they get the quest as well.

Its hilarious to see the banking cowards try to back peddle when the guys smell blood.
    Best of luck.

I don't care about the mixing of PvP and PvE, though I thik it is unfair for ZOS to force players out of their comfort zones and play the way they don't want to in a game that takes pride in saying "Play the way you want!" My biggest gripe was the decision to award opposing faction players with your hard earned currency. Seriously, all it does is encourage unscrupulous players to pick on others who are just trying to have an enjoyable time completing quests or improve thier skills and equipment. Even if they want to continue rewarding that sort of bullying behavior, taking 80% is excessive. Even 50% would be too much. Developers, you have had some bad ideas, but this has to be one of the worst.

I wonder if we will ever see a PvE / Solo imperial city just to enjoy the city and story. Reason I say this is the main quest may be good or bad but I am not going to stand in the open speaking to an NPC just to get ganked and if I am in a group I want to click through the chat as quickly as possible to get back into helping my group.

As such I don't have a clue what the story is or why I am being sent places. I will probably never progress it far.

I haven't done all of the Imperial City PVE quests, but of the ones I have done, I don't recall ever having to talk to a quest NPC in a location where I wasn't safe from enemy players.

Not everyone is like this. I did get jumped as I expected, but I didn't always loose. I never win when it is more than one on one with real players but 1v1 is about 50/50. I ran into one today that jumped me from AD and I won and then ran into them again in the same spot trying to take out a mob. I helped them kill the mob and then armed myself and backed away. They backed away too and we left at opposite ends of the street. Another time I got jumped and when I was down to about 80% and they were about 20% they took off running. I followed them for a bit and then turned around and went back to finishing my daily.

Its all about perspective, I find it fun to jump into the middle of a bunch of enemy players knowing I'll get killed just so others on the map might be able to see where they are at by the crossed swords on the compass.

With all that said, I still say that I don't care for a story line being tied in with this. Yea I played it and completed it and now have my daily's but If I hadn't have already been paying for access, ZOS's marketing would not have convinced me of purchasing it with crowns, even though I admit it can be fun. At least it ain't as bad as tying a story line to Craglorn (which I still haven't done).

@Wolfenbelle I can sympathise. I'm a casual more PVE person...however crafting mats have lured me into IC.

I had a great experience grouping with a fellow guildie. From the start it was made clear that the intention was questing. One of us would pick up the quest from the board and share it with the other. ( Otherwise you get different districts to go to). I like to read the quests the first time through, guildie does not but waited while I did.

If we came across a chest we took turns to open them while the other kept a look out. I can reccomend getting the thieving passive to force locks if you've not got that already. This greatly reduces time spent vulnerable at a chest.

I also placed mines down whenever we were opening chests/ at a quest objective. This helped atleast stop people from getting within melee range unless they wanted to blow up for a bit . Although it's probably a big purple sign saying "people are here"...

We snuck around the whole time. Guildie had a Khajit and I've got dark stalker passive so we were fairly speedy. I can also reccomend the reduced sneaking cost passive from the thieving line too.

I surprised myself by managing to successfully evade mobs that had detected me..I ran/bolted around buildings and sneaked again..and it worked!

Of course we did die plenty, but we also managed to kill some players that tried to kill us. I got my first revenge kill >:) . We did come across a player who ran away from us..figured they were just trying to do the quest so we left them alone. Once we spawned on a balcony ( arboretum I think)...turns out there was a group of enemy players spawn camping on the ledge next to us sniping anyone that jumped off the balcony.

We had to abandon the arena quest since there were loads of enemy players there. So we picked up another one and we're able to complete it. We also got killed at a quest objective but when we went back after it was empty...so a flexible mind frame helps too.

So I would have to agree with @MissBizz about finding folks with same intentions..With 2 people we weren't walking gods but it did make it possible to do some quests. Also I disregarded any TV stones other than the quest rewards. This helped me enjoy it way more. And finally if you have no TV stones on you and get killed- you've just wasted the enemies time..you can bet they will be dissapointed. B)

PS hope this helps..if you've already tried all this please disregard my advice ( since its from a PVP noob) :p I'd offer to group with you but I have no AD characters.

EDIT I also equipped a resto staff to off heal myself and guildie. And I slotted invisibility potions. We were completely different classes but as a pair we managed to accomplish something.

This is pretty much what I have said the last couple of days. Once you take the TelVar stones out of the equation, especially when it comes to doing the daily quests, you actually begin to enjoy the content rather than worrying about being killed and you end up laughing at the enemy for wasting their time killing you for nothing.

Do this.^ I find it hilarious when I get killed I have next to nothing but when I happen to kill a straggler from a Zerg group and get 1k plus stones it's money in the bank.

I can easily find groups to do quests with, because many of my guilds have daily events doing that, problem is that everyone skips the conversations because of pvp aspect. So the pve is ruined and have become achievement-point & skillpoint farm for most pve'ers I know.

That said, I really like the new content, but I can't call it questing.

I also dislike having my build nerfed, just because they want me to buy new armor. I will buy the new armor regardless, I just hate that I feel like playing a beta game where things aren't tested with each new big patch, and whatever I wear will be useless. Bound on pickup is also really lame :(

Threads like this just convince this PvE healer that the IC Xpac is a total waste of time & if I'm forced to buy it because I'll miss content without it, I'd rather quit the game.

ZOS made the cardinal MMO sin with this Xpac.

NEVER force your playerbase to do PvP in any way, shape or form.

This being the 'first' Xpac for console gamers too.... good lord WHAT were you guys even thinking?
