I love being Tank, hate being kicked... (City of Ash)

I really enjoy my VR14 Dark Elf Dragon Knight, but I am really sick of getting kicked at Valkin Scoria. I'm glad you need my help, but as a community can we make a pledge to not kick tanks at the end.... I mean come on.

Wait why would you get kick from group at last boss?
  • thelastNoble
Twice now I've gotten to the end boss and someone talks about how quick groups can get him down without a tank. One of the times one of the DPS was trying to convince the group saying they've kicked the tank at the end and beat him as well. Turns into a bickering match and then we disband. At least none of the group leaders were the ones who bring up the idea thus far.

That's disgusting behaviour. (Are you on console or on PC ? - just curious because never seen this on PC).

Get a nice guild and run with them. Such PUGs aren't worth your time.

Kicking a player who helps you to reach the last boss is not someone worth playing with, If you all worked together, then everyone who contributed should be able to enjoy the rewards.

Find a new group to run with, find new friends, or find a guild to run with.

Sorry to hear that people are attempting to use you for their own purposes, hope you have better luck.

It's all good. I just finally found a group and got it done with them on VR14. I'm on Xbox One NA though. Typically I'll recruit people from Craglorn area chat though. I think it's probably because we end up not having enough DPS towards then end and the DPS will get defensive about it. The amount of DPS we needed for the VR14 end boss, I had no where near in other groups. I'm glad I found a good group. Now if I could find the same for the trials that would be awesome.

I really need this helmet for two of my builds. I would love to join a guild that can help me get it done. I have a V14 sorc I need to farm it on and I would like a low level one on my DK to hold me over until v14 as well.

    I'm on XB1 NA Aldmeri

I'd like to see them get there without your help. That really annoys me, and hope you don't get thrown to the side like an old piece of furniture again. Can't say I've ever seen it happen on DC (PC) before, though.

I think PC gamers also understand the importance of role based characters. I can't believe I still hear people in Craglorn talk about how they are tank/heal/dps. Unless you're a PC transfer who has endless champion points, this is a senseless tactic in real team strategy situations

It gets even worse since ZOS actually design some encounters to be completed without a tank or is much easier without a tank. Engine Guardian in Veteran Darkshade Caverns, Mezeluth in Veteran Crypt of Hearts and Planar Inhibitor in White Gold Tower comes to mind.

When a encounter is designed to make 1/4 of the party completely useless, that is horrible design in my opinion. I don't think there are any encounters where DPS or healers are useless, this is very specific to tanks.

Seconded, I've actually never fought Mezeluth lmao

I literally don't even know what that fight is like cause I'm always made to stand behind the tank shame cone

I honestly find it very difficult to find groups. I grinded quests all throughout the game to get to VR14 and its still a struggle. The other day alone i spent 8 hours trying to find a group just to try and get a flawless run on the Crypt of Hearts Vet Dungeon and ended up only getting 3 separate tries which were failed. No one needs a tank and its kind of upsetting cause I can't find a group to get things like the trials or Vet DSA done since most legit groups have a tank as well

This sounds like a console thing it used to happen in destiny specifically the prison of elders players would get kicked just before the reward room.
I would definitely run with a guild the guild I'm with is very good great helpful community if your on the eu server I can chuck you an invite we are a guild for mature gamers aged 25+

One of the reasons I like to keep my CP fairly balanced..... Be able to provide value to the group in any encounter. My templar is a healer, but does decent DPS with a gear swap. My DK is setup for PVP atm, but when I'm doing the PVE thing I always have him set for Tanking or DPS.

That being said, I think it's disgusting to kick a player on the last boss because of their role/class.

I agree with the advise given above, find yourself a guild. Having a friendly, organized guild makes all parts of the game more enjoyable. A guild helps with finding groups for content whether it's 2 man grinding or 12 Trial runs, a guild will have experienced players of every class/role that can help you with builds/strats and trading/crafting guilds are great for getting the gear, gold and supplies you need.

Most PUGs are lacking tanks. Next time you're asked to tank in a PUG, insist on having the group lead. This way you can't be kicked. It's common practice anyway to put the crown on the tank to make it clear who he is for the healer.

I don't know any fights where one member is "completely useless".

Darkshade last boss still can use a tank on the Dwemer Sphere. Planar Inhibitor doesn't need taunts, but the tank doesn't need insane DPS either for the portals... and I'd like to see PUG running witout a tank in WGT xD
Well, it may come one day though, but so far, so good :)

"can be done without a tank" doesn't mean "we should not have a tank here"

But we all agree that the behaviour of those players is crap.

Holy cow this is sickening to read O_O sounds like a case of bad dps looking for desperate solutions. I hope you never encounter those people again, actually I hope they leave this game for good.

I have experienced 3 times in total, where the tank was kicked from my group, but that was because the tanks were ignoring all bosses and only tanking adds repeatedly in vDSA, and they would completely ignore all advice and requests. I still didn't like them being kicked though. I started doing vDSA with friends after those experiences, because group members being kicked left a bad feeling with me. Our tank friend was brainlagging too, but he was among friends so we never kicked him. Now after the patch he is brainlagging at the Planar Inhibitor boss - and I do too x_x

For some reason I have done the dungeon repeatedly with other teams, but brainlag gets in the way with my usual team. I mean we're talking cataclysmic earthquake lags.
