Unless PVP is completely separated from PVE it will always be the case that in order to have a fully optimized PVP character players will have to run PVE. It just is what it is.

Overall this is a PVE game with some PVP elements to it. If this game was a PVP game, everyone would have maxed/stock/balanced characters. This the major issue carebear PVE'ers have. Sure PVP is fun and I'd love to be able to compete, but you can't except this to be even remotely fair when you have teens/single/college kids clocking 10+ hours a day and 40+ year olds with jobs and children.

MMOs need to find a way to level the playing field where the 1 hour a day guy can compete with a 10 hour a day guy but still give the 10 hour guy enough of his epeen phat lewts

I think a lot of people aren't seeing why this is such a big deal for PvPers. If you want an optimal build in PVP, you have to get the best gear, right? Well right now, the best gear ONLY drops in the new dungeons, is Bind on Pickup (I can't buy it) and the RNG is totally ***ed. I ran ICP several times last night and only received one piece from the new sets- and it was a set that is completely useless to me. I can't even trade it or sell it to someone who actually wants it. With the current drop rate, I will be forced to grind ICP and WGT for months before I can get all of the set pieces I need for PVP. The jewelry sets like Willpower and Agility are tradeable AND they drop from dungeons so you can opt out of farming trophies to get them. Also, none of the gear you can purchase with AP is that useful anymore, so the main source of income for PvPers is completely gone. I have to PvE to get the gear I want and to not go completely broke in this game. I'm not trying to argue that PvErs don't have it bad- I know PvP is rough the first time you come in, but to completely invalidate the problems of PvPers because you feel like you got the wrong end of the stick is just ignorant.

But seriously, WTF is up with that RNG? If it isn't fixed, I will quit because I am not ok with having to farm dungeons for months before I can get my gear. Make it BOE or increase the drop rates. You've already lost a ton of players over the lag and zerg-friendly PvP mechanics, don't make people rage quit over something you can easily change.

I'm a ultra strict PvE'er and I HATE PvP but for once I can agree with and have some sympathy for ya in this. But this is just the way it is in MMORPG's I feel. PvP was WAY, WAY, WAY over due for some new content and I'm happy for the PvP'ers. But here is the legit point that I feel why PvE'ers are upset about this is because crafting content is locked behind a PvP door. I have said this several times in other threads and I was really upset about this my self because I enjoy crafting a lot. I would have been cool with it if they implemented a "no PvP flag" setting that locked you out from all PvP and could only be changed by leaving the zone and making that choice before you actually re-entered. This would have been awesome! PvE'ers could come in and enjoy all the PvE that is in there and get to see and explore that area. They could have been able to do the quests in there as well. Seriously, quests and dungeons are PvE not PvP. When you enter a PvP zone then thats what it needs to be. I'm not saying that there should be no mobs in a PvP zone or some quests but rather the quest in there should be centered around PvP. I was not really bothered by the fact that there is a lot of skyshards in there or that I would never see the content in there but quests and story lines is a bit uncool and NOW they have locked some of the crafting stuff behind that terrible PvP door. zenimax/havoc just cant get it right for some strange reason. IF they would have made it possible to enter the PvP areas with a "no PvP" setting where you cannot PvP at all then that would have opened it up for EVERYBODY. And most everybody in the game would have bought the DLC. A PvE'er is NOT gunna buy the DLC so zenimax looses money on that. But, I know why they put the new crafting stuff behind the PvP door and that was in hopes to make PvE'ers buy there DLC content if they wanted to farm for the new crafting stuff them selfs. As far as I was concerned all they did was make PvP even more unappealing by making it possible for other players to loot you if...I mean WHEN you get ganked. For me thats COMPLETE and total BS!!! So now PvP'ers can run around and gank you, make all attempts to insult you as you lay there dead, and now can loot you to top it off. Pffft...just wow. All that did was just strengthen my total and complete disgust for PvP. I'm not against PvP at all and for those that like it I say thats great and I'm happy for ya, really I am but it just isn't my cup of tea. The fact that PvP was restricted to its own zone was a huge reason why I stuck with this game for as long as I did. But now they have really crossed the line on this last disastrous patch on several different levels. I know for a fact that they have lost paying customers on this one. So, was this crappy move really worth it? I'm not sure to be honest but I have my doubts. Will zenimax give you guys the facts on something like that? lmao...hell no and in fact they WILL lie about it!

Uh, if they allowed you to run on a "no PvP Flag" that would nullify the entire point of the area. Everyone would do that to farm safely.

As a crafter myself, I hadn't considered the point about the crafting stations because none of the new crafted sets really appeal to me. I can see why that would be a major drawback for someone who dislikes PvP. I'm pretty certain there will always be PvPers online who are willing to escort a crafter to their destination- I know I would because I love exploring IC and happening upon fights. Also, I think ZOS is counting on the two new dungeons being enough of a pull to keep PvErs subscribed/willing to purchase the DLC.

    1) Best thread ever.
    2) I love how some people can't understand how tounge in cheek this is.
    3) I do both equally. I've also said on here about a dozen times how much more reasonable the PVP only community is. I'm starting to think it's just because more of them have a good sense of humor about pretty much everything.
    4) Running dungeons more than twice makes me want to run into traffic. Getting "ganked" usually just makes me laugh.

@3 You pretty much have to have a sense of humour to put up with the lag/bugs/exploits in PvP or you would, quite literally, explode.

You could also flip this argument to say, "How can you force PvE'ers to PvP?" The fact is, both sides are going to have to just get over the fact that this is a PvP/PvE zone. I think this is the first PvP'er QQ forum post on PvP'ers having to PvE. Regardless of which side you stand on, you are going to find that each side as to do the other for the new content, no one as left unscathed.

Everyone says this when they don't actually read what other people are saying.

Oh I read what was said, however I simply don't agree to an extent.

Then maybe I miscommunicated. Please explain to me how PvErs are forced to PvP because I'm not seeing it in this update. Sure the new content is a lot of hybrid PvP/PvE, but no one is forced to do it for any reason other than to experience the content. You can bypass all of Imperial City to get to the new dungeons because ZOS knew that there are people who REALLY don't want to fight other players. For PvPers, the only way to get gear that is necessary to be competitive in PvP is by doing PvE content. The gear I want cannot be purchased or traded because it is bind on pickup with an incredibly low drop rate, so I must farm it in PvE. All of the gear that is obtainable through PvP can also be purchased for gold or traded. The new jewelry sets also drop from vet dungeon bosses, so if you are a PvEer and want specific gear, you literally never have to set foot in PvP. I'm failing to see how people think PvEers have it bad.

Well take a look at it this way. There is gear, resources, and misc items that you can acquire with Tel Var stones... how do you get Tel Var Stones? You have to do the content in IC, where you constantly run the risk of being killed/ganked. There is also a quest line in IC that you are unable to complete solo (mostly) that are linked to achievements. There are collectibles that are also linked to certain events within IC and also provide achievements. Many PvE'ers would be looking to obtain these achievements and explore the new content. PvP'ers only have 2 dungeons that they have to complete at a chance of gear. I do both PvE and PvP and understand both sides of the argument.

Lol, it's funny you should say that. In another thread, someone actually posted something along of the lines of how it is/was because of the PVE'ers that blocking and dodge roll was nerfed, as well as the other stamina-based changes. LOL! Those pesky tanks during dungeons blocking all the time whilst regenerating stamina. Assisting us with progress, with your excessive blocking and dodge rolling. Everything is imbalanced, because of you and your PVE abilities. :D

If you REALLY want to challenge it, I made this thread back on August 17th. Then, I linked it to Jessica, who said she sent it on to Rich, Brian and Eric. Not one of them has challenged this yet.

I was thinking the same thing when reading the forum, All these pvers crying about forced pvp. Pvpers been forced pve for a long time.

So what if you drop some stones to players. L2p and adapt like we have to.

OMG....Really? Seriously is PvE really that hard for you guys? Whats really and truly absurd is PvP'ers thinking they got some sort of a "valid" reason that PvE is bad and they are some how being forced into it. If you dont like PvE then go play a game that is more PvP orientated. Also you guys knew good and well way before you bought this game that it was mostly PvE so dont complain about it but rather put the blame where it really belongs and thats on your self! Seriously I'm gunna throw these pathetic answers that you PvP'ers always spew out to us PvE'ers and that is "dont like it then go play some other game" "just man up" "thats just the way it is, l2p!". I'm sure I'm missing some of the other ones but my point is made. You PvP'ers have absolutely NO ground to stand on concerning PvE in this game!!! So this so called "Forced to PvE" campaign that was contrived from some fantasy world is a failed attempt to some how counter us PvE'ers complaints concerning PvP is completely idiotic. Nice try guys but ....NOT! The VALID complaint is that zenimax/havoc have intentionally locked the new crafting stuff behind a PvP door. This was clearly designed by bios PvP'ers within havoc to bring in more ganking victims and to FORCE PvE'ers to buy the DLC. Am I gunna fall into this TRAP? Hell no! Another thing I feel that most if not all PvE'ers are not mad because you PvP'ers got new content. In fact you guys was way over due for some new content and I also think you guys should have had a lot more content then what you got at the start of this game.

Bind on Pick Up four words that do not go with "Pay with gold" but do go with "RNG is a ***."

But this is the just the way it is in MMORPG's I feel. I'm not saying that there should be no mobs in a PvP zone or some quests but rather the quest in there be centered around PvP.

No, thats wrong. PvP players will PvP and PvE players will PvE. If PvP is boss then you have nothing to worry about. The thing is that you PvP'ers dont wanna see somebody that you cant gank!

I ran ICP several times last night and only received one piece from the new sets- and it was a set that is completely useless to me. I can't even trade it or sell it to someone who actually wants it.

    Yeah, I agree.

Well, you see that is zenimax's/havoc's fault and thats the PvE'ers big complaint.
Well, to be honest I can see your point now and I agree. People would indeed put on the no PvP flag so that they could get the new gear and mats without being harassed by gankers and large zergs but with some time that would decrease and it would be back to PvP for the most part. Putting the new crafting stuff behind the PvP door is certainly not the only way to make it hard to get if that was what they felt to do.

Some of us are equally into PVP and PVE. PVP players are not a homogenous group, and that needs to be acknowledged. These aren't two totally isolated groups of people who must duke it out mano a mano in a QQ arena.

I'm having a great time in Imperial City right now, and that's because I can do both at once.

Not all PVP players are sadists, either. I don't want to drink anyone's tears. I'd rather PVP with people who want to be there. But PVErs are a blast to PVP with, IMO.

Actually, now that I think about it: all PVP players are also PVE, inherently. A good PVP player uses the environment as a shield and a weapon.

One last comment; in Imperial City, I am finding that one-on-one? The mobs are harder fights for me on average than the other players. Weird and new.

XBox is almost lag free. Occasionally I'll get some missing animations when 50+ people are on screen but nothing all that bad. Literally every sports game I have lags more than ESO.

I bet you're fun at parties.

    Let me see ...

    1) You took the bait. This was an ironic joke thread obviously built to poke fun at the dozens of threads saying the opposite.
    2) You can't be a completionist and refuse to do what is necessary to complete the game. I want to be a Super Bowl MVP. Sadly the fact that I never played football last high school severely hinders that.
    3) For some people running the same dungeon over and over in search of gear is unbearable. I don't think I've ever run a dungeon more than twice. Am I angry that I'll most likely never get the Undaunted gear? Nope. Because I'm not willing to put forth the effort to get it. This is the exact situation you seem to be facing here. If you're not willing to put up with the potential downside to gear farming in IC then you are no way, shape or form entitled to obtain or craft that gear.

Some people on both sides of the fence make a lot of fuss.
The game is set up to include both PvE and PvP. I suspect the designers would like people to do both but you aren't forced to after l10.
If you don't want to do both just accept you aren't going to be able to do or get everything the game has to offer, its your choice.
