Does anyone actually read the character speech?

First time played in English used no text addon listened to everything.
    Second skipped most of it.
Third played it in French listened to everything .
    Forth and fifth skipped.
I read a lot of the books but they kind of annoy me since the text is kind of small for me.

Im on the first time lol don't u get bored replaying?

I only played it twice while also paying attention to the story. The other times where more about getting a new max level character for end game. The ESO story line can get quite repetitive and boring after he first time. It is quite linear if we compare it with some other known CRPG series. It can have some replay value if you let some time between replays though.

Yes, of course I read the character speech the first time I do a quest. After that it depends on time of day, phase of the moon, and barometric pressure.

I just whiz through quests and I know most ppl do, no one I know takes any notice of what the quest is about lol

I know what they want you to do, there are some words that basically lead up to, "go to this arrow on your map, and when you get there interact with the object or kill whatever is there. Then come back here and click on me again and mash your interact button as fast as you can so you can move on to the next arrow"

If there weren't a paint by the numbers arrow system on the map you might listen but since there is who cares to hear their politically correct socially advanced diatribe of how you are going to make the world a better place. What we really want is the next fraction of a level or a skill point.

I often do read and listen to the quests provided I am not in a group required quest, if I did it then I would get yelled at, I am already an OCD scavenger...

I do tend to read everything my first time through. When doing the groups for the first time, I try to find people who are willing to let me stop and read. There are lots of great guilds out there with people who are willing to do that for you and me.

With the first few characters I did both, listening and reading. I want to improve my English :)
Sure, I could play the game in German as well, but I know how it's like playing ES games in German.. the translation and the voice actors suck as hell. So, English it is, and it's awesome!. Also, I joined some friends on the NA server in beta and prelaunch, so why changing it ;)
But, with the current character I'm levelling and the one before, I started skipping dialogue already since I've heard it a bit too often by now, though^^

Yes, if on first run through the quest/dialogue. Maybe, if on second run. No, if third or more.

No but it was pretty cool, esp when it was the Nerieds in Arx Corinium. It just seemed appropriate. I was, however, grateful for the text in english lol.

Oh, that's on PC. OnPS4 I pretty much blindly do the quests because of that reason.

I only wiz through them if I have read them beforehand. But first time doing quests I like to read them.

Unless they are boring quests, like almost all of the quests in craglorn I find somewhat boring, except the one with that cute little bosmer gal, she was cool.

Yeah, it's odd to hear German lines inbetween^^ Some NPCs still say "Hallo" instead of "Hello" when walking by, I find it amusing ;)

Thank you :) Well, I've not learned it all from games, though, I guess I couldn't play them if I wouldn't understand at least the basics (or better)^^ But every game since Skyrim I play in English (or read only in the English forums etc.), this did help a lot improving it :)
But your idea sounds cool, if you could play games at school in the language you're learning, it would for sure improve your skill, because.. it's fun this way :)

On my first character I read everything, every quest, book, tutorial tip, skill description, recipe, random scrap of paper etc. Mind you I had to. I'm a compulsive reader, if I start reading the back of a packet of cereal I have to finish it.

Fortunately I'm also a natural speed reader. So for subsequent characters I sort of glaze over and let the info rush in. I can tell if I've read something before, so not compelled to read it a second time.

I enjoyed questing a lot in ESO, in the main they are well written and sufficiently diverse.

I read and listen to everything they have to say. I love getting soaked up in a story. It's like being in an animated book. You wouldn't read a book to only skip passages and chapters in my opinion.

I like to listen to all quest dialogue, usually reading it as well.

I'm guessing that people whose approach is best summarised as "skipping through it lol" are likely to be playing the game for different reasons to me. I like to immerse myself in every aspect of the journey, I suspect they're more interested in reaching the "endgame". Both approaches are, of course, equally valid.

Yes. I like the quests plots, storylines, and characterizations. I've reported many typos and many mismatches of voice and text

I don't really "read" the text as much now because I've gone through all of the Alliance quests so many times I know what they are going to say.

I'm guilty of skipping dialog on the third or fourth time and sometimes it depends on which character it is. But the first couple of times, listened/read through all the quest dialog.

Yes, somtimes the voice acting is terribad (mostly khajiit). Other times the NPC just talks too damn slow. Then there are the times when the people around me in party or irl dont know when to stfu. So yes, I do.
