I run Shooting Star on my sorc for trash mobs. Used to run it on bosses too but then I found that Overload does way more damage.

If you level up mages guild skillline, it will cost you below 200 ultimate points, and on trash you gain up to 45 ultimate points just by using it. On single bosses, it is easy to fill up and cast - since most bosses are undeads, deadra etc. and with the fighters guild passives it really becomes the fastest ultimate to regain.
