Veteran rank. Really? One shot in pvp, insane amount of exp to level. Why? What's the meaning of this, why can't we just have a level cap?! Literally killed the game for me... Time to let it collect some dust until zeni max can do something right...

Like omg!!! Veteran levels in all honesty are really not that hard... expect a level once every 3 or 4 days. Pvp is bad because you don't have a lot of champion points..

1-50 is really teaching you how to play your class. Veteran levels are when the game actually starts to become good. Take some time to gear up, maybe search YouTube or Google for new class specs and just have fun leveling and don't pay attention to how long it takes to level. There is no rush. Its a really good game and its fun. But if your dead set on hating it because its not easy, go play renewals.

Mr Dankles, there is currently a level cap...it's VR14, soon to be VR16. The grind to end of level cap really isn't different from any other MMO out there. When you installed the game, you did see that it was Elder Scrolls Online and not Skyrim right?
This game is fairly unforgiving for new PvP'ers. You will need to do some research on hop on board Mr Dankles.

This post seems a little too reactionary. After hitting your initial VR you do have to put some time and effort to go get VR 14, but also to accrue some CP, find an effective build, get some good equipment, and find a role in group tactics that you can function well in. Obviously, it is a little daunting to get in on the big PvP battles and not be a maxed out character, but there are still plenty of things that players can do to help their faction win. I recently spent the time to get four of my characters to VR 14 and I feel a nice sense of acvomplishment. Now I need to get each character to fit a unique role in PvP. Sure, it's a process, but if you enter the mileu of PvP it's not like you can instantly dominate, which seems appropriate.

To be fair, +60 leveling in Skyrim was more of a pain than vet ranks in ESO. :p

Well, before the patch that let you roll back skill lines anyway. I suspect it was a lot easier after that.

Veteran Ranks are still planned to be removed. Zenimax knows they're not ideal for enjoyable gaming for many(there's been a lot of discussion on it). Just what replaces them, if anything, we will just have to wait and see. In terms of the alliance war, I believe it is the champion points as much as anything that significantly contribute to problems you experience.
If you can be anything, be kind.

Theres nothing wrong with vet ranks, leveling form 50-63 or from vet 1-14 is going to be the same thing.

Just think of 1-50 as a extended tutorial, now the real game starts.

I agree with u. Vet lvls suck. I love challenging games, but i cant stand games that has grindwalls to break before you can qualify for the challenge. Most ppl cant differentiate between those 2.

Don't listen to the negative Nellies, OP. The first few vet ranks do indeed seem to take a long time, and losing the battle levelling in PVP does make life hard for a while.

But...as you progress each vet rank requires the sane xp, and you can take out tougher enemies as you go in PVE so vet ranks actually come faster as you go. Take heart...there is still lots fun to be had :)

Game wouldn't be any fun if you could reach top level and get all the best gear in minutes. I don't mind questing/dungeons to level because they help me discover my strengths and weaknesses. For example, just completed a dungeon where a dude fire whipped me in 1 hit through wards and blocking. Lesson learnt: I am highly flammable.

To all people striving for VR levels, why do think the game is going to be better from VR 2 - 14?

The game only gets interesting in vet ranks, you actually need to work on a build on learn how to combo your skills because you can't just spam 1 skill through a dungeon anymore,

You unlock vet pledges, veteran pledges are the first real challenge people have in the pve side of the game.

You need to learn better strategies in pvp, e.g. you can't run away from your group find 2-4 people and run back without consequences because unlike not vet pvp everyone doesn't have over 30k hp and hits like a wet noodle.

You have a choice, either do the cadwell quests or grind, most people do a bit of both.

Also for the first time you'll have to actually strive to improve your gear because everything isn't given to you like in non vet pvp, your gear means something now, this is were most people normally regret not working on crafting.

You were surprised that there was grinding in a MMO?

Veteran levels are fine as they are, 60 - 90 minutes per level when grinding.

However the fact that they said they were to remove them and not yet have is disturbing, regardless, read the patch notes:
    - Battle scaling will now benefit lower ranks
    - Reduced amount of XP required per VR level

    It ain't that bad.

I am in the vet grind, one "toon" up to VR7 another at VR3. My first characters being on PS4. and i would like to reach end game create my final sets of gear make them purple and gold etc. but i understand its going to take time. Just like levelling my mount. I accept this but..

that said a few of my friends made VR2 and stopped. It seemed such an unscalable mountain and we arent the most social of players so where we had 4 or 5 friends playing they kind of lost interest too and we could no longer do the dungeons and veteran pledges and things we were looking forward to do so now its just me. and there is no text chat to even LFG it with pugs.

I think the current system drives away new console players who are notoriously non committal, seems to make a barrier between finishing the story and reaching a level where you can do "end game content or vet PVP" not to mention games like metal gear solid, fall out 4 and the new call of duty are all going to be drawing console players away from the game for however long, but will those same people come back?

TL;DR i have to agree with the OP not for myself but for the 4 other friends who have sidelined the game. i would expect it from a few of them, but i think you are losing more players than you should particularly on console.

Not to compare ESO to another MMO, but I can recall playing World of Warcraft for 6 months! before I finally made it to max level. And I had a great time doing it. This is an MMO, @mrdankles , not Minesweeper. It's going to take you a little while to beat the game. Sit back and enjoy yourself.

People just have to accept that those who have dedicated time and effort into a particular character will (and should) always be stronger else what is the point in levelling? Lets just all stay level 10. If people want to play a game where they can compete straight away then I believe games such as Battlefield are quite cheap nowadays.

Power SHOULD come to those who have commited more time and effort. If I see a V14 I don't expect to compete against them I seek to compete against those of a similar strength. Getting obliterated only excites me more for what is to come.

Totally agree. The console community do not understand how MMO's generally work. The building of your character in an mmo is a project not just another quick deathmatch on CoD. I miss having a PC and being able to play with a community which the majority understand and appreciate how MMOs have and always will work.
