Assuming you've been playing for over 15-30 days or having played other games the friends list is going to be your go to.

As you play you can casually talk to ppl as you play to build your friends list.
You can if you choose to, meet and friend at least 1 person every two weeks which is more than enough to jump on and play with.

If your habit is not to socialize, friend, meet and play with others then it will be harder but having text chat doesn't make this automatically go away. Forums, psn, or Xbox forums, social gaming networks and other game forums should have provided plenty of ppl.

There are sites like esolfg and Twitter, Redditt, etc that at this point having ppl to play with shouldn't be an issue.

I omitted in-game options as you've shared disinterest so hopefully a few of those offer opportunities for you.

I've tried all these things. I've mentioned in this very thread that I have in fact. I understand the fundamental aspects of how to meet people while gaming.

I've run guild equivalents in other games. As well as recruited and trained members for those guild equivalents. Not all of them were MMO's and some functioned fine without text chat. I've even been the middle officer whom other members expressed their concerns with. So the concept of interacting with other gamers is not foreign to me. What I have learned from all of this is you need to make sure your message reaches the most people. Then you filter what you're looking for from there. That is why I want text chat in the game. It's a boarder scope. I tried extensively to make ESO work for me without it. It doesn't. So here I am advocating for text to be added.

Plainly your world view is not the absolute truth of others.

So why is the goal for your message to reach a broader audience?
With that same idea, what is it others responsibility to filter out what they don't want but in this topic a situation where ZOS needs to add a way for you and some others to reach more?

I ask because of the many examples of in your description annoying things heard on voice chat in broad audiences

I'm going to be honest your statements don't make clear sense. Without clarification on what you're getting at it's hard to respond.

I'm asking why you feel text chat reaches a broader audience than voice chat on consoles?
    Also
Why is it others responsibility to filter out text chat on consoles but not your responsibility to filter out voice chat on consoles?

I think pretty much every forum poster now knows your views on not wanting text chat, about 50% of the time I read the forum, if I glance down at the topic titles, I see the text chat and your the last person to post :)

Still of course you have a right to give your thoughts, I just don't think you fully understand where others are coming from.

I've been a console player since I first brought my megadrive, had most of them, all the PS and all of the Xbox except the latest.

I've also been a PC gamer all this time too.

Different people play in different ways.

I don't join random guilds, never have. In Lotro I was in two guilds since the day it came out one on the EU and one in the US, in ESO I joined a guild I found via a forum when I said what I was looking for in a guild. It's a multi gaming guild hence if I do move on to another mmo, chances are my guild will have a presence also.

I rarely use pug groups either (on the PC), I like to group with friends I've made, in Lotro we have alliances with other guilds and my friend list grew etc after I had played with the same people a few times, got to know them and got to like them.

In ESO on the PC, my guild is a very active and friendly guild. We use Mumble when we are doing dungeons and PvP, although I don't always use it in long PvP sessions as I have no desire to sit there with headphones on for long periods of time.

The rest of the time I am chatting away to numerous guild members in text chat. I get to know these people through text chat and only speaking to them occasionally through mumble would probably have meant I had made far fewer friends.

I have two chat tabs, one with zone enabled for PvP, and one with just my guild enabled for general every day use, so I don't see the spam messages from others trying to sell or whatever as I have no interest in them.

Last night I was on Mumble with 3 guildies doing one of the vet dailies, and I could still easily type a quick hello to guildies who log on, and even answer a question or two in text chat in between fights.

At a rough guess, for every 4 hrs I play on the PC, I have my headphones on and use mumble for about 1 hr. The rest of the time I am using text chat to communicate with just my guild.

I have 2 friends on the PS4, one is my son who doesn't even own one, another is one of my guild mates who has recently got a PS4. Up until ESO, games I played online on the PS4 randomly grouped me with people who never spoke, never had their mikes on (or very few of them did) , for instance Destiny, don't have to talk to a soul there but can still happily PvP all night if I want.

When I game on the PC, I'm in the corner of the room, when I have my headphones on and use mumble, I'm not disturbing the rest of the family.

When I game on the PS4, it uses the main TV, I usually have my wife sitting next to me, son or daughter in the room etc and I don't like using headphones. As many others have said, some of the language etc that gets heard through the TV from others voice chat, well if I repeated it here, the post would get deleted. So as far as Zenimax are concerned, it's not suitable for this forum but perfectly OK for the whole family to hear through the TV.

When I play mmos on the console, I want to be able to join a guild and chat away with them without using a mic. When I play DCUniverse, that has text chat that's easy to use with a controller.

My PS4 gaming is very different to my PC gaming.

There has to be a way for different groups in the guild to be in their own chat rooms when they are running various dungeons etc, yet still see what other guildies are talking about and being able to comment, just like text chat on the PC lets me when I'm in mumble..

I get it,. you like using your headphones, my son when he's in his room on his Xbox has his phones on for hrs at a time, he has numerous long term friends he can group with. But not everyone enjoys doing that and I and many others have little if any desire to use voice while mooching about doing things such as a bit of solo leveling or crafting.

I get your concerns, I hate all the spam on the PC but as I have said, I get zero spam as I now just have guild chat showing most of the time. The odd occasion I need a mat I cant find, I enable other chat to see what people are selling but it's one simple click to disable it again.

I really really really don't understand why you have such a problem with it being introduced on the consoles in a way where like the PC version you can customize whats seen hence wont ever see the spam (and you do seem to have a much much bigger problem with this being introduced than most other players).

I hear concerns that if text chat was introduced, voice chat wouldn't be used, surely if that ended up being true, it only shows what the majority wanted. And I don't see how this would affect you even if that did happen, you can just keep chatting away using voice chat to your friends?

For many (on PS4 anyway) voice already ISN'T being used and we are having ZERO communication as we have voice chat disabled for the reasons many of us have already mentioned. I haven't played the console version for ages now for the sole reason of the lack of text chat. If it had text chat I would have brought the DLC, as it is I will probably uninstall it to get disc space back.

I have loads of addons on the PC but I would happily play the console version without them just for a completely different experience and to soak in more of the lore and story, however lack of text chat is simply a big no for me for an mmo, it makes it unusable FOR ME and many others.

Often on forums, it feels like a small group of people complaining, get changes made to the game that the majority never wanted. But I do honestly think the vast majority of console players are dumbfounded that there's no text chat and cant believe they released it without one.

Real short....I'm not the reason you don't have this feature but ZOS is.
I'm attempting to help everyone understand where to find the information regarding ZOS's decision in development to scrap this feature. There is also a response to this topic on ESO live from much older threads that are now archived from the closed console beta forums.

To me...if anyone wants some form of this feature, it's only logical to fully understand what ZOS' opportunities and options are per what they've shared. As of now they have literally said and wrote that what exists on PC will not come to console but other ideas around pre-text radial chat is where they are willing to look at other ideas. It's why I suggested a compromise to utilize the social menu which is als where radial text chat is offered.

If your goal is to continue trying to convince anyone who votes against or who doesn't fully agree with your own opinions regarding this feature you're missing the point of this thread and also taking the thread off topic. If anyone desires a response from ZOS start where they are willing to listen and not where they've already responded even if you're new to the topic.

    Greetings Everyone,

It’s okay to disagree and debate on the official ESO forums, but we do ask that you keep all disagreements civil, constructive, and on-topic. If a discussion gets heated and turns into a debate, remember that you should stick to debating the post and/or thread topic. It is never appropriate to resort to personal comments or jabs about those participating in the thread discussion.

Please keep this in mind before your next post to keep this thread open, constructive and on-topic.

    Thank you.

As a forum mod can you please let us know if the devs are aware that console players want text chat? Can you give us any inclination as to what their thoughts are on the subject? It would be super if you could have a little two way communication with us. I assume thete are meetings around there so maybe you guys could discus it for a few minutes and at least decide on some talking points that you are approved to share with community.

Why should this niche request get special treatment over all of the other requests made on the forum?

Capes, poison, player housing etc, are all more important to players than this.

This is thread doesn't even have more posts than the three word story.

I know you feel strongly for this optional feature, but harassing zos employees even after an official response was given at launch seems silly.

This might be a very long discussion but, count how many times it had to be moderated.

Even if zos officially stated no, moments after the official post, there would be a campaign to harass the devs into adding it in anyway.

Let's be honest, that's exactly what this discussion is.

So how would stating another no, stop these kinds of niche discussions?

Ask yourself and be honest, minutes after a definitive no vote we would all meet right back here and continue as before.

Many of the text guys have all but said they stopped playing. They have admitted that at best case scenario , zos could spend a heap of money to implement text chat and maybe some players would play the disc they ALREADY PAID FOR.

Zos was always going to share a few players with other console MMOs, but in choosing to have a clean HUD , the captured many more customer demographics than they would lose.

Have a great day and best of luck.

1]Yes by all means capes are way more important to MMO players than being able to find groups without spamming over the spam of players selling over the spam of the 8 year olds singing over the spam of the 4 guys arguing over who is hotter lana del ray or Miley Cyrus!

2] You may be right about "Already paid for" but you know what... If most of these people had known about this being the only MMO in history that would limit us from communicating other than some half baked voice spam system that clearly doesn't work for EVERYONE! then they would have never bother buying it. Also point out that with feature like this missing and the people you so rudely shrug off as "Left the game already" those people will do more harm than good to the population of ESO with word of mouth at how many BASIC MMO features are missing from ESO.!

3] Yes YES the ES lore purest ruined this game! It was in its early stages what looked to be a MMO, but the ES lore boys cried and changed everything from the HUD to the Nameplates for this game for the better.. You know not like everyone is wanting the stuff added into the game that these people had removed from the game!

The game's central concept of "PvP in PvP areas and be safe in safe areas" needs to stay the way it is.

Zos changed their minds on issues they said no to before. Why do you think this should be any different?

I have asked you this several times now and I would like to read your response to that question.

You are correct. Nothing is set in stone. It would make perfect sense for them to change their mind, humans do it all yhe time.

Don't let yourself get sucked into an argument with these guys. There is absolutely nothing wrong with us asking ZOS questions. There is nothing wrong with us voiceing our opinion. There is nothing wrong with us asking for what we want.

Let them have their "no" opinion. If they try to bushwack every new guy into these forums with outdated ZOS info then we will be here to reassure the new guys they are not alone and we are working together to voice our opinion and get information from ZOS.

Too an extent text would a great addition in theory BUT on paper not so much depending on the way they have it set up on the HUD.... if could just end up destroying the game in he long run on console if the chat takes up too much of the screen and the annoying spamming that normally happens in the console game chat. A war frame style chat would be nice where the messages disappear after a certain length of time so your no staring at the same line of chat for a 5 minutes if no one is talking on the chat. But I can also say that there no reason to add a chat besides for guide/dungeon recruitment because not every player goes on to these forums . I am kinda on the fence with this. WOT has no chat in the console version of the game and it does not take away from the experience and the game is just as good without the chat option being added to it... to bad there is no on the fence option for this question.

Zos changed their minds on issues they said no to before. Why do you think this should be any different?

I have asked you this several times now and I would like to read your response to that question.

It's not what I think and again it's not me arguing this.

In response to your question...ZOS just recently said to everyone after the last ESO live show that they have no new information. (Their stance hasn't changed) per Jessica Folsom's comment

That didnt really answer my question.

Im not asking about what zos has said in the past or recently, I am asking why are you trying to steer me and others away from asking what we want when zos has shown that they change their minds with topics such as this.

I understand they said no. I understand their reasoning as well. I also understand that they have changed their minds on a few things as well. What I dont understand is why you want us to stop asking for what we want and try to settle for a compramise no one is asking for.

As a side note, I apologize if I come off rude, I dont mean too. I am a very direct person and dont mean any offense in any of my statements.

ZOS_sage, the Creative Director, did a Reddit Q&A thing a while back (around June) and said this.

”Is it possible we could have a text chat? Yes."

This obviously isn't breaking news or anything and it dosnt mean its going to happen but my point is that ZOS's decision to remove text chat from consoles is NOT final. It's up to us to show them we want it.

The game's central concept of "PvP in PvP areas and be safe in safe areas" needs to stay the way it is.

So I love how they tried to justify not having text chat on console on a previous eso live (Episode 16) and from watching them you can't help but believe that they almost believe that its a bad idea not to have it as well lol

It starts at 1 hr 5 min and 42 seconds

You can tell they are not sure if this will go over well with fans, and they are catering to the new generation of gamers who are young and used to playing games like Destiny, COD, and Skyrim. They might as well have said we don't care for those MMORPG fans even though they will be the people that will still be playing the game from a year from now. The people they are trying to cater this game towards by leaving out text chat will leave this game when the next big game comes out. They should have thought about there future. Luckily there is still time to fix there mistake and add text chat before they loss more then just those hopping gamers.

I like how the VERY LAST thing mentioned about text chat in this video is; "Of course, we ARE still listening to feedback.".

    So...keep giving that FEEDBACK!

"Quick chat" just does not work well enough to replace a textbox.

I'm definitely not steering others away from what you want.
I am steering you and anyone towards what ZOS has said they are willing to look into. Unfortunately that's in opposition to what you and others want.

I'm only trying to help as so many were absent and do not watch and/or listen to the live information which is how this company chooses to respond to their customer base.

If you really want to help you have to understand our position. Grouping up is our number one issue. We want a text chat that can reach thousands of people, not just those in earshot or those standing at the undaunted camp or those in our guild. We think the looking for grouptool is broken, exploitable, and rediculously inefficient. We want our text chat to be able to toggle on and off. We want voice chat to stay as is. There are other things we could discuss but this sums it up pretty well.

So, if you want to help us get on board with our ideas. If you don't like our ideas then there is no point in trying to "help" us and you can choose to leave or choose to stay here and continue to derail the thread arguing over garbage. You haven't convinced a single person and your not going to. This isn't debate club anyway. We've used text chat on other games, it works, and that is what we want!

The game's central concept of "PvP in PvP areas and be safe in safe areas" needs to stay the way it is.

You're sadly making false assumptions about me and also have placed your ideas and opinions as more important than my own or anyone else's. I actually have taken a lot of time and side conversations to understand your points of view.

I alone decided early in 2015 to make, manage, compile, inform and share a thread which was the only complete source for consoles months prior to release with this entire community her and on Xbox any and all possible info on console release. To be quite honest the majority the community found out that text chat wasn't offered prior to console beta because of my efforts. Some of the early pro-text chat box supporters are in my Xbox one guild.

A lot of you guys have no clue of what extent I went to each day for months to keep you guys in the loop. Even in 2014 prompting to lead the charge where finally Matt F specifically addressed my question during the 12 months of delays and silence and then keeping the momentum going which began ZOS interaction on console specific info.

The feature that you're upset about was scrapped sometime during the requirements set forth by Xbox and Sony which unknown to us could therein lie the definitive decision as to why it was removed.

If you go to the Playstation or Redditt site you'll see months prior to release during the 12+ month delay...a ps4 only screenshot was placed and ZOS mods suggested that an arrow on that screenshot was where text chat was to appear and be toggled or what not. Later(in my thread) ZOS mods admit that their info was outdated and they commented and shared things that development had scrapped earlier along in development. This type of stuff happens but I took my personal time to keep anyone at all interested informed.

To say I need to first understand your point of view which entails putting aside my own opinions is extremely selfish and oddly it's exactly what you claim I'm doing to you.

The reality is that I'm showing you windows from occurrences you missed and gates to access that info and first hand to listen to and read topics around those items. ZOS is the company who made decisions and who decides what does and what doesn't appear on the platform of your choice...not me.

I'm simply the messenger and sadly if not for me most of you would have no clue about anything pre release and post.
If you want the feature topic listened to by ZOS, it's ideal to listen to what they want to listen to and discuss along those lines.

Any poll or thread regardless of influence isn't how they go about making huge platform changes. Threads and polls are sometimes how they gauge interest in things they are open to changing. Find that space and develop and organize conversations there. If you hope they'll change their minds start with something vs beating a dead horse.

It works and I'm actually here to help you and. Others do so.

This post just screamed "I'm special!"

What you did was nice.. I guess, but most people aren't looking for help. Unless you work for ZOS? That would be helpful.

Please stop responding to this person guys. Keep it positive and lets keep this thread about voicing our support for adding this feature. It's not make or break, but it would improve the game so keep joining in and letting it be known.

Some people claim to have so much fun and enjoy the game but seem to be on forums 24/7 ready to counter anyone who is asking for this feature, rather than playing. I think text chat will be added. Lets just show them how much its desired.

I've been trying for what....2 months now

This post just screamed "I'm special!"

What you did was nice.. I guess, but most people aren't looking for help. Unless you work for ZOS? That would be helpful.

Please to responding to this person guys. Keep it positive and lets keep this thread about voicing our support for adding this feature. It's not make or break, but it would improve the game so keep joining in and letting it be known.

Some people claim to have so much fun and enjoy the game but seem to be on forums 24/7 ready to counter anyone who is asking for this feature. I think text chat will be added. Lets just show them how much its desired.

This is exactly why there are four people I will not reply to in textchat threads.
They already got a 95 page thread closed, and try to do the same to every other one about the subject.

Just give the "feedback" ZOS claims to be listening to, and ignore the...other stuff.

If your habit is not to socialize, friend, meet and play with others then it will be harder but having text chat doesn't make this automatically go away. Forums, psn, or Xbox forums, social gaming networks and other game forums should have provided plenty of ppl.

So can it be a toggle item? text for those that want or need it?

and before we go to the need. It shouldn't be to hard to figure out who needs text to communicate on a voice worldspace.

I've been trying for what....2 months now

It's not MY opinion, 83% of us support it. I'm not going to argue with you. Your not helping. You are griefing this thread and I won't play your game pal.

Please quit try to "help" us!

Again...this isn't about me vs. you.
Also the poll % is not 83% for the feature. It's only 83% of those who decided to participate in the poll.

There are approx 3 mil + active accounts that play or may no longer play.
There are less than 1,000 polled participants so if you look at the 83% it's less than 1% of the total population BUT the whole point of all my comments is that ZOS isn't basing a decision off this which is actually good for you and anyone who supports the feature.

They are listening to what they've suggested they are open to so based on what we know (and someone posted one video above or use my forum sig) build on that along with me and others.

At least get something vs. the same response since April and June

Just Talking to ppl and the consoles have a whole world of options outside of the game. It's pretty simple unless you're new to consoles....PC to console seems just fine as I prefer not having text chat in order to play and not be interrupted or slowed down by typing and trying to read while playing.

This is a quote of yours from the thread titled 'Gaming Company Successes & Failure'. I chose this quote because it firmly displays that you don't want text chat on console. Now that is motive. Posters are going to have a difficult time believing that you're "here to help" when you have motive to push against text chat. You're far from a neutral party. So it's very easy to be drawn toward a conclusion that you just don't want text chat on console. Hopefully that illuminates why people are abrasive toward you saying you're here to help.

"I prefer not having text chat in order to play "

NBS placing a personal preference in front of helping others is wrong in principle and practice. Has selfless service ever been in any creed or philosophy for you ? If this is your motive on this thread maybe it will make others retroactively seek out other threads that you have "helped" in..

Forgive me if there's one of these buried somewhere.

We consolers simply require this, ZOS. Are you aware that PvP group organizers have devolved their recruitment strategy to repeating, "stand by me for an invite" at objectives? Are you aware that people queue for dungeon groups never intending to communicate with the group AT ALL? The current system is game breaking.
I'm asking all of you to make this poll a clear, overwhelming demand for immediate implementation of text chat. We require this and we WILL NOT get it without concerted action on this forum. Thank you in advance

Where is the "I don't care because I would never play this game on console" option?

    Disrespect for the Developers
-This community has a very bad habit of pouting and demanding things when something isn't of their liking even after the developer has shared why a change or decision was made...this is just another topic that has been addressed on ZOS live in April but rants, complaint threads, etc continue
-There are positive ways to provide feed back and I think that has occurred in April, and acknowledged again by ZOS, reviewed and later responded, as no in June but the compromise was radial text chat...(the horse is now dead 4 times over)

I really don't think adding arguments is disrespecting the developpers. If you are a developper, you first must be open to criticism. Also, if we are here, on the eso forums, trying to make things change for ESO, it means that, on the contrary, we respect them. We try to show them that this game is very good and could be improved upon. If we were just bashing them publicly on reddit, it would be something else. But we're here, where only ESO devs, ESO moderators, and ESO players can see what we say.
Time for a Change in the MMO space
-The main aspect is I came to this game to get away from the traditional MMORPG games like WoW, DAoC, Neverwinter, LoTRO, Aion, Warframe, Asherons Call, DCUO, Ever Quest, etc.
-This game looks and plays like TES rather than another MMORPG in a different template

What is a normal TES game? It's a single player game. ESO has those elements in the form of many, many, many quests. (over 1000 accordingto the achievement requiring 1000 of them). I currently am at over 850 of those quests done. Surely, I'm not the only one. I have 3 zones of solo quests remaining, completing greenshade, then doing malabal tor and reaper's marsh. After that, what remains? I'll tell you, what remains is a mmorpg. All the rest of the content requires 4-12 people to complete. 4 is not so bad to gather. 12 gets a bit harder. The group finder makes groups for dungeons. I'm yet too see "craglorn" in it. Not just that. 12 man raids are hard. You don't throw 12 people who have no concept of what an mmorpg is in those raids, they will only get ***. All the soloing they've done up to there will serve them in no way for all the rest of the content, except maybe PvP. When you get to endgame content, you need the mmorpg "holy trinity". You need AT LEAST a tank, a healer, and DPSs and they need to know their job. Sadly, the soloing system that got them up to that point never really showed them how that works.

    Logic
-This community which is similar to many other MMO forum communities hasn't learned how to communicate which is evident in the forums. This bleeds over into the game, and is why I end up leaving MMORPG's
-I like this game but don't like the garbage that flows through text chat on PC, so I moved to console
-I now enjoy playing, very rarely encounter a problem socially and other than people's Kinects or open mic sounds popping up, I can mute it in less than 1-2 secs
-The console version solves all my issues that I've had on PC but many of which I took steps to minimize
-Allowing the PC traditional social aspects spill over into the console version is a BIG reason why a lot of people steer clear of MMORPG's

If you can mute a guy in voice chat, why can't you put him in ignore list with text? That's true for everything that is related to text. In a game I played, a few years ago, every time major patch came in, about 50 gold sellers appeared. 50 spammers is a lot. But then a week later I did not see any spam, why? Because as soon as I saw a spammer, i would put him in blacklist, meaning I wouldn't see anything he wrote ever again. I agree that people haven't learned how to communicate. A lot of people are jerks. But jerks will be jerks with a headset justas much as they can be jerks with a keyboard. Blacklist them and you're done.
    Hardware Requirements
-its not ideal for the majority of console players based on limited support of keyboards or second screen support
    -adds an necessary cost
-most keyboard cables do not reach the distance some gamers sit from their consoles

The cable they give to charge my controller doesn't reach where I normally lie to play. I'm not sure about Xbox, but for PS4, they did give a cheap crap mic, which is about as much quality as the visual keyboard that they also supply within the software. If you want to buy a decent keyboard, it will cost 10-15$. If you want to buy a decent headset, it will cost 75-100$.
Where are the unnecessary costs? If you want a decent keyboard that is also wireless, then maybe it will be 30$?

    Functionality
-two hands on a controller (no room for another device)
-the pop-up screen pauses the game (occurs on xbox one when text box is triggered)
-a gamer would have to stop playing in order to type a message (regardless of the device used to type)

When you're on PC, you have to let go of the mouse to type, and since you're typing, WASD doesn't make you move. How is this any different? Because it's on console doesn't make it harder, instead of letting go of the mouse, you let go of your gamepad. The cool part is that you can still use the voice chat if you're unable to let go of your gamepad at a certain point.
    Environment
-The majority of online games for console are voice only so it begins to split players into categories.
    -allows spamming of text
-drives behaviors to avoid using the games systems which have other negative impacts (ie: ppl want text chat so they don't have to use the Grouping Tools)
-Screen shots and video capturing in the console environment can product very negative outcomes for online behavior in-game
-Drives the need of in-game moderators for monitoring text chat
-the consoles are built in a way to ignore text only without blocking a gamertag entirely for all games
-social interactions on consoles are not character based (see the above comment)

    ..........this is my opinion..............

The console games you're reffering to are games in which you have 2-8 people in the same game at the same time. Not a megaserver. Every mmorpg that came out on console had text chat. Those regular multiplayer games are often either shooters or sports games. Games in which the communication needed is generally, shoot the left guy, I got the right one" or, "pass the puck here, put it on net, snipe, deke around that guy." I've tried a veteran dungeon the other day with a few friends. When we got to the last boss, strategy was: "Ok, this guy switches randomly between 3 phases, first one he's red and throws fireballs, stay out of red circles and DPS. Second phase is when he goes green. At that point, everyone stacks on the healer, healer uses ultimate and everything he has to keep us alive while we DPS from a distance. Third phase, he will go yellow. We need to be super far from him or we die. He also pops adds at this point, the adds have ranged attacks so the tank must lure them togheter by hiding behind colums, then DPSs can AoE them." It's a lot more in-depth than your general multiplayer games. And with 12-man content, all different accents, and poor voice chat quality, even though I seem to have a perfect english here, my french canadian self would be overwhelmed. Written instructions are 100x easier to understand, and you can read twice or 3 times if you so desire without having to ask for people to repeat.

Text is the oldest universal form of communication known to man. Text will never get outdated. Historians thousands of years from now will still use text do discover things and transmit their knowledge. Text might take some time, and you may put yourself at risk by using it. When a messenger, in the middle ages, stopped to write a letter, attach it to a pigeon and send it, he was putting himself at risk. Text has pros, text has cons, but text is important in a large scale environement like an mmo. And wheter or not the company wanted to make a typical mmo or not is irrelevant, because in the end, they made a mmo. They made a game that is ever evolving. They made the kind of games that needs players to stay. Just base sales are not going to cover developpement costs for the next 3 years. They need more. They tried subscription model on PC and they failed. They thought they would make more money by making it work with a crown store and DLCs. Players who will stay and pay for DLCs are not those looking for solo paly. Those will leave once they've done all the solo quests. The players who will stay are those who want group play, and so, mmorpg aspects. Those players, even though they might not realise it right now, will want effective communications once all they have left to do is endgame content.

    That is MY Opinion.

I wanted to say how I really feel.
Then I realized it has already been summed up pretty darn well. ^^^

    Thank you.
    @ZOS_MatM
    I have an idea.

How about you guys finally discuss/answer with your personal and non scripted thoughts on this thread , than to copy and paste the same response(s) everytime? We're not robots here, please don't treat us like we are.

This will do several positive things, if you just confirm your answer of yes or no:

    A. This will give hope to those who want text chat(If you say YES)
    B. This will give reason to shut this thread down.(If you say NO)
    C. This will most likely stop these apparent insults that you've told us about(And said in the same exact way/response), somewhere in the dozens of times already, by you and your team.
    D. This will show that you guys actually read our stuff!(Especially with one of the largest on going thread in your forums) How cool is that?
    E. Saves you guys a bit of bandwidth and time.(Which will help you focus on the things that YOU guys feel should be focused on.)
    :)

We're asking for five minutes of your time. Five minutes that would be extremely productive to the thousands who've been to this thread and the countless other threads just like it.

Is this a sort of typical business troll method by keeping this thread open?
Or is it open because it's a possibility you're considering, to add something that we're asking for? Who knows? We don't know and we need you to clarify it for us.

It makes no sense to have an extremely large speculative thread open, if there is absolutely no chance for adding text chat to consoles.
It's wasting everyone's time(Including you guys) by having this massive thread open with unanswered questions from your guys' side.

    Thanks.
This what the PC community has been experiencing for over a year now. I forget that you console folks are not accustomed to copy and pasted responses yet.

It's next to the "If you don't play on consoles why are you trying to vote in a thread dedicated to console text chat" option.

Generally if a poll does not include an option that affects your position...it is not aimed at you anyway, and your input is not required.

Just like when somebody posts; "Should PC get controller support?"...console players are not required to give input.
(Though, I do think PC should have all options that consoles have, and consoles should have all options PC has.)

The title of the thread specified "Consoles" but dont beat yourself up, we get a PC troll in here every once in a while, we try to welcome them in with open arms. This thread is not for discussing which platform is best. Your welcome to stay and hang out but your prompt not gonna make many friends with that rock start.

The game's central concept of "PvP in PvP areas and be safe in safe areas" needs to stay the way it is.
