Imperial city DLC has pve not just pvp!

It does not seem clear to some people. Yes, this has a large pvp element to it (as it should since it is the only new content for pvp) But there is also 2 new 4-man dungeons and a public dungeon.

I'm glad there is a PvE aspect to it, that way everyone has something to enjoy.

Last time we received a new Veteran Dungeon it was only once at the time, Veteran City of Ash; people would regularly frequent it not just for the Undaunted drops, but the Titles and Dyes tied to the achievements.

These two new Veteran Dungeons should be cool, hopefully the head-pieces look, with the great words of Kormac the Templar; "Glorious!"

These dungeons will not be openly available to all players that want to enjoy them. Your faction first will have to unlock the feature through PvP campaign. So for PvE players this is not a great feature as they might feel they are being forced to PvP.

So it still sounds like forced PVP mixed in with PVE. So if you want that new gear you have to PVP to get it correct?

There is no official source for this rumor. They have stated different possibilities for access to the IC, but nothing was actually said. Moreover, i wouldnt doubt that you are able to access these dungeons by fast travel like all the other dungeons. of course we wont know till probably friday, but it would be a horrible business model to sell something that you may never have acess to if you dont play at the right times. that is illogical. If we didnt have to pay for it i could see that. Again, there is no offical source stating what the terms of the access are. merely rumors

I used to PVP a lot in games around 10 years ago, but these days I'm a bit over it. I don't like that pretty much every MMO tacks on PVP now. I feel like it takes away too many resources from the PVE aspect of the game, which honestly, is the biggest part of most of these games. Balance seems to be pretty difficult in MMOs that have a PVP aspect. There is a lot of complaining about classes being OP. It just seems like balance wouldn't be as difficult in a strictly PVE game. It's a constant wave of nerfs and buffs to classes. :/

So I'm obviously a bit disappointed that the first DLC is pretty much all PVP. I know there is some PVE, but it isn't much. You get a couple of dungeons. The city itself sounds really cool, but I don't care for the idea of having to run in big groups constantly in the event that you turn a corner and get ganked and lose any gear currency you may have. :s

I guess I'll continue to hold out hope for some PVE content like leveling zones and quests. The vet thing kinda ruins it for me because you're basically forced to level through all three factions which means that any alt you play will be running through the exact same content you have already seen. I would much prefer being able to play the other two factions with alts and experience the content for the first time. I'm hoping we'll get some leveling zones like Elsweyr or something, and that it won't take another year to get it. One of my favorite things about WoW was that I could level up two or three alts and get a different experience on each one. It wasn't too repetitive. :)

We dont real know yet. But as i stated above, its seems more likely than not that you will be able to access those dungeons w/o having to pvp. Therefore, all the new gear and waht not will be available for pve players via those dungeons.

To be fair, pvp has had zero content outside of a couple armor sets since launch. it seems only fair. not only that pvp players would riot all ZoS locations if they released more pve content before pvp. especially b/c IC was announced a year ago.

Still any one else notice how there wasn't anything about a PvP arena though? Like the Imperial city has a arena and we all want one and there has been many ideas how to add one. So the rumor about the imperial city arena being another worthless PvE gauntlet like DSA seems to be true.

I am going by their previous statements way back in the day when they first told us Imperial City was coming. Maybe they will change this feature, but originally it was designed this way..... you know when it was suppose to come out shortly after launch.

I mean ZoS has been consistent in saying perhaps down the road with arenas. i mean from an immersion stand point, how do you have a battle arena in a city over run with molag bals forces? I would rather see focus on content they have had in the works for some time rather than arenas. for instance, spell crafting. Also, there are dueling guilds out there that have plenty of fun doing the way they are now. So it is workable.

the original plan was a nov-dec release. update 6 and console derailed that expectation though. Remember the players asked for update 6.

Don't PvE players already PvP to hold onto buff campaigns?

Buff campaigns are being removed in the same patch.

The same players can fight to hold onto Imperial City. The ones who are too timid to fight can go into the buff campaign after it is already captured, like they do now for quests.

This only seems to be an issue for players who are too timid to face the possibility of encountering PvP at all, which there is already a vocal minority of who have been complaining about Cyrodiil PvE for ages.

Not seeing any concrete changes that inhibit PvE players from enjoying content.

If they do have to actively fight for access to the area it will be a nice touch though.
Lots of talk about immersion in ESO -- well, players should be immersed in the war as well. The war is impacting Tamriel just as much as Molag Bal. To turn a blind eye to the suffering of the inhabitants of Nirn simply due to a resistance to the idea of experiencing PvP scenarios would be folly.

To be fair, while it is the first "DLC" under the new model, it's not the first major content update. the first was Craglorne, which was almost exclusively PvE. I'm not really a PvP player, I don't enjoy it, but the PvP crowd has been waiting for some new, fresh, content for a long time.

I think it's really cool that they're getting something which isn't just a new map or a few balance tweaks, but rather a whole new scenario, the implications of which will have consequences for the whole population. Story-wise, the conquest of Cyrodiil is central to current events, so the Devs pushing more focus in that direction (for now) is fine, good for them and not just ignoring it.

I'm mainly into PvE, but I don't mind having to PvP a bit to earn the new sets. I had to PvP to get access to the alliance skills that I use in PvE, so this is along those same lines.

As far as losing stones when you are killed by a player, there's a simple solution to that. As soon as you get one, mail it to a guildie, a friend, or to a secondary account, and you'll never lose one.

First, your source is a wiki article!. Second, if you look at the source you will see that they only linked the alliance war page which says nothing about it. This is just another spiral from unsubstantiated rumors spread from some Devs who said they are "exploring" different options. I am not saying it is not possible or that it wont happen. I am simply stating a fact. non one knows yet.

This system worked very well in DAOC. I think you guys will really be surprised and like this and thats without doing any pvp to gain access. if you actually join into pvp to take back your home keeps it would even feel more rewarding

Does this mean that once we discover those dungeons, we can teleport to them at anytime? No need to control home keeps or reach the sewers entrance or PvP through the sewers/city each time we attempt the new PvE dungeons? No worry about queuing or population locks? That would be great news! My major concern with this DLC was that we would get a group of 4 together to try the new PvE group content, but lose Dragonclaw just as we were about to start. Then we would retake Dragonclaw, fight our way to the sewers entrance, fight through the sewers/city to the dungeon, and ... the tank and healer have to go to work/dinner/bed.

Once you've discovered them, you can go to the dungeons any time (though keep in mind you do need to have the DLC in order to do so).
