I was just wanting to express that racism can be hurtful in Tamriel. I was called a midget this evening, and I feel this was out of ignorance. Wood elves are short! Not everyone is bred from high elf or Nord stock.

Tamriel is a harsh place. Mer up, take the insults with a straight face and send an arrow in the general direction of particularly annoying individuals.

Somehow, all the short jokes are more insulting coming from high elves. When a Kajiit says it, I kind of find it endearing. But I nearly skinned that Breton meatbag that commented on how flammible the grant oaks are while she sat in front of a blazing wood fire. I almost did, but I had just eaten a quite large Argonian bandit, and simply had no more room in my belly.

Don't feel so bad. I am a Redguard, and when I created Stenvar, I put the height meter close to the tallest. I completely forgot that some races are taller than others, though, so when I stand next to nords and Altmer I am very short. Just call me Spud Webb.

I don't worry about that too much coz I'm an Altmer and we're quite PERFECT you know. Tall and lean and generally rather good looking. The only ones who say anything about me are other Altmer. One of them said something about my ears. But I laughed. I'm used to that one.

If it was RP: Just remember not to take IC conversations OOCly. It can be tricky at times - as there's a little bit of us in every character we play - but can be done.

Also, as others have said racism is indeed ingrained in Tamerilic lore. So another player role-playing a racist character I think is completely acceptable. They should however just be careful that it's not taken too far, is consistent and reasonably/appropriate for the situation.

Finally, it may well be that the other person was RPing an ignorant character, this is perfectly fine too. Just as we are human and imperfect in real life and do not get along with every other person we meet, so too should our characters be like that in-game I think, if we are serious about our RP and want to get the most out of it. RP, I believe, is not able to flourish or best be served when creating perfect characters in perfect, predefined and controlled situations. It's only when our flawed characters are sent out into a flawed (i.e. realistic) world full of potential unpredictable and random encounters can the true joy of RP be found.

They very best of the RPers are the ones that are able to think on their feet and react in-character brilliantly and appropriately to any situation they come across.

My character doesn't like bretons or vampires, but mostly vampires. His plasmophobia as an adopted child living across the hall of the Chorrol chapel undercroft, left him a necromaniac, bent on making himself undead in its highest form (and torturing ghosts (the female ones)). I guess he feels like vampires get too much attention, considering they're "part daedra", because they require sustenance, and because by not attempting lichdom, none of them deserve the higher embodiment. Deep down, though, he knows that if he ever met a vampire, and if it saw through his illusion, the vampire probably wouldn't trust him, and the lich would probably have to leave.

I guess I was unclear. The lich knows deep down that the vampire likely IS undead--and although you would think a lich could take a vampire, you never know, and you fear the people who fear you. A vampire likely has ties to a place. It's better for my character to just move along.

Altmer are stuck up and I would enjoy eating their faces. I find Argonians to be quite friendly. We are all racist in our own way, but leave my height out of it!

Constantly people want to "pet" Zharum! This one is not a house-cat! The next one who puts their filthy hands on Zharum's luxurious fur will loose a finger! Also not all Khajiit's are as they say "junkies"... this one thinks they simply cannot handle their moonsugar tea so they make these claims up!"
