Bank and inventory space ridiculous - economy makes no sense

I've had to spend around 12k on bag and bank upgrades which is far too expensive if you ask me considering the money you get for items, unless it has a extra 280% to merchants trait on it, is absolutely nothing even if it's a rare item.

I got a yellow staff the other day and sold it to a merchant for 44coins... it's pathetic really.

I could join a large guild but I don't see why I should be forced to join a guild with hundreds of people I don't even know in person, it weirds me out thinking for all I know these people could have been to prison for serious criminal charges such as criminal offenses against children or sex crimes on women, and I wouldn't have a clue. I just enjoy playing with my actual friends and a select few that I have built a trust with.

I currently have an 80 slot bank, the next upgrade is 6.6k, and my bank currently consists of 42 different provisioning items because I get the same recipes over and over again, but I can't bring myself to throw the items or sell them for 1 gold each just in case I find a recipe that requires them.

These same provisions... such as an apple, cost 150 each from a Grocer in game, 3 times as much as the 44 gold I got for my Yellow staff. Ridiculous economy if you ask me makes no sense what so ever.

Strongly feel this needs to be addressed because it makes no sense as an economy what so ever. I understand you are trying to prevent gold farmers but it's silly to prevent lagitimate people earn some decent money. We are supposed to be playing as heroes lmao yet my guy gets pittance for saving the day or selling his rare heroic gear.

Here here. They Price gouge for what you can sell them for. In the normal versions not the online, you can sell 99.9% of the items you have for at least 1-5 gold. In online you get NOTHING!!!. So all this collecting taking up your inventory for NOTHING. This needs to be fixed.

Where on earth did you get a Legendary staff? And why would you vendor it rather than decon for the chance of a mat if you didn't need it?

It only gets worse from here. I have 7 characters with 170 slots each (full bag + full horse), and 230 bank slots and I still have too much stuff. :-P

Where have I heard this before? Since release on the PC. They have done a lot with allowing stacking of crafting mats to 200. However bag and bank space are a gold sink and are expensive. Upgrading your horse is cheaper, you can get 60 slots for 15000 gold, it just takes time.

Most of us roll a Mule Alt to hold extra inventory.

And, if you want the most gold for an item, you need to sell in a Guild Store, or a Guild with a Kiosk. That gold staff you could have sold for 2000 or more in a guild kiosk.

As for just vendoring, you can pull out 20,000 to 30,000 gold per zone (and it goes up as you level up) just by vendoring to ingame merchants the loot you get.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Exactly. Like I sell a piece of cheese to a merchant for 1 gold, he then sells it for 150 gold... pfffft yeah okay.... because that makes any sense what so ever. 150x profit..... must be loan sharks or something.

    I have 8 characters with 150 bagslots each + 100 bank slots. That's 1300 slots.
4 of my characters are storage mules, the other 4 are played on a regular basis.

While this is not ideal, it is manageable ...

Well dont expect the bags to ever change at all in fact they are bringing in the final step to it shortly.

Buy bag and bank space for real money this was already data mined.

But to your other point i totally agree it ticks me off to be forced into guilds. I really enjoy comming to town paying my respect to thrall ;) then off to the auction to put some items up then my bank then back out into the world. :)

We have been asking for a possible addition to the current system that each side gets 3 auction houses all linked to each other in three cities that act like a global auction house.

    Just something else :(

Bag and bank space is fine as-is. You can get 1,600 slots which is more than enough. Yes, it is expensive, but work towards it like everyone else has and you'll get there.

This is why they need a guild store instead of a guild vending machine....

A guild store would allow that guild to set prices on items they would buy and how many of that item. Why not make it so a large guild can for instance:

    Guild A
We want to buy 500 Cheese at 75 gold
We sell all guild owned Cheese at 125 gold

The guild under cuts the other local merchants so they make money, the players who are questing make money, and the whole system goes round and round.

This also allows players the ability to not be forced into joining a trade guild.
  • aConsoleCouple
Not every guild is about playing with other people, there are trading Guilds like that one I have where it's all about buying and selling to each other and to everyone else through the guild trader, I've made almost 200k in the last few days selling things.

I personally think the economy is fine in the game.

Sorry but if joining a guild freaks you out then clearly MMO's may not be your piece of pie. Also PvP is one of the biggest reasons to play an MMO. People like me that does do it but really do not like it as much as others I take my good old time to get to end game. When I get bored of PvP then it is time to re roll.

I foresaw this happening when ZoS decided on console even thou Final Fantasy has done well that did not mean ESOTU would. I was hoping I was wrong but clearly it seems they miscalculated. They could turn this around but it would mean laying out in writing and in a statement that outlines what where and how the game will end up, That does not mean to only consoles which is clearly where their focus has been for a year. They need to break the bridges they created with the PC/MAC players and hope it drains over to the console players.

They really need a better PR man!

This is exactly my point in regards to that subject. I could join a guild that just buys and sells items but even then it's a long process. At least in the real world you can decide whether you feel someone is shady or not and not partake business with them. Even in the real world I'm one of these people that won't let someone have my money unless I feel they deserve it. Bad enough doing small transactions with multimillion dollar companies, but alas, need to if you're going to survive lol.

Its your own fault for not joining a trade guild. All you have to do is request to join one. I talk to no one in 4 of the guilds im in. You would get 7k easy for the yellow staff right now. Ive made 200k buying and selling over the course of 2 weeks and im only level 29. its not that hard....

hmm maybe perception is the problem here.

Yes, the bag and bank upgrades are expensive but they are a couple of the very few gold sinks this game has. It actually needs more. People on PC now are sitting on millions and not much to do with it.

Absolutely agree you guys need text chat.

Trade Guilds tho... no one says you have to interact with them. You go in to the banker, list your stuff on the store and go on your merry way. Dedicated Trade Guilds aren't social guilds they are there for you to do one thing...sell and buy. Doesn't matter who's in them. I never even look at the chat for mine. (or listen in your case)

I'm guessing this is your first MMO and you don't yet understand the concept of a gold sink, or why they are necessary to the economy of any MMO. I was in the same boat back at PC launch over a year ago. I suggest you give this a read to get the basics of it:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_sink
It's also worth noting that the more you play and the higher level you become, the more gold pours into your pockets just by questing and killing mobs. Personally I've spent well over 1 million gold on bag and bank upgrades, I've spent a minimum of hundreds of thousands of gold on various items from guild stores, and I believe right now I'm sitting on roughly half a million gold. And I'm someone who really doesn't play the economy game - I sell very little in guild stores. The vast, vast majority of the gold I've earned over the last year and a bit has come from just playing the game.

    This is your problem here.

I understand you not wanting to join a large guild (although you might be a bit paranoid with your reasoning, you may want to give one a chance. Perhaps you would be pleasantly surprised), but you should at least consider joining five trading guilds. They have little to no interaction, they do not require you to chat in voice or do anything social for that matter. They simply require you to be an active seller on their guild store.

That yellow staff you picked up, pending on level, could have easily gone for 10-25k on a guild store (inter-guild auction house). So my recommendation, join five trading guilds that are populated (400-500 players) and sell every blue/gold item you get, as well as mats, etc. That is how you make some great coin in ESO.

If you want to get materials from items you break down, you have to level your smithing. At low levels you are likely to get nothing back from some items.

???? I belong to three TRADE guilds and have never spoken to or ran content with any of them... they are there JUST as a means to buy/sell items utilizing the trade store via the banker. I've made thousands of gold through them and have not experienced any problems... or stalkers. :s

I honestly have barely upgraded any inventory space... I upgraded the bank twice, bag space once, that's it. I keep crafting mats (blacksmithing, clothing and woodworking) and gear I plan to use for research in the bank, and run with the bare minimum in my character's inventory. I've never run out of space in my bank, and I never keep outdated (lower level) mats, always selling what I don't need. I don't keep things that I 'may decide to learn to craft later' because I can always buy or re-collect them if that 'later' ever comes around. I only keep what I KNOW I will use, I don't hoard... this game is not hoarder friendly. ;)
