What's the point in creating character names!?

So the hardest part of any game (for me) is coming up with the perfect character name, ESO was no exception. However, in game it only shows psn names... So why even bother creating a name?
Also, you can't have two of the same letters in a row? That's silly. BabaBooey... No way. Two "o"'s in there...

Yes that would bumb me out as well. While I would like to think there is a logical reason for it and give ZOS the benefit of the doubt(I have done that before and been burned) I do not think there is one.
I love character names and seeing other folks character names. There's a reason a ton of us were rdy to log into the game during early release 1 hour earlier than planned (they stealth opened the game 1 hour early) to create 8 characters with names that we wanted to reserve. They are a huge part of an MMORPG imo.
But, maybe ZOS is equating the console community to the CoD community that doesn't care about such things. I just don't know.1 -

In all honesty if there is no plans for us to use the names we gave are characters then they need to either be done with naming our heroes, or make it so it doesnt matter if its already taken. I was stuck in Character Creation when i made my archer about 3 days after Launch because all the names i wanted was taken. If we arent going to see them in game (especially with other players) they please get rid of it since its purpose has no meaning!
At least make an option to have it either show our IGN, or show our gamertag/PSN ID!PSN: iTofuMan

Please no... It's a shame it doesn't display in it's right place but if the game gets totally rid of character names that'll suck even more imo. I like naming my characters and it also helps me sorting them out when in the character selection screen.

Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.***Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis0 -

From what it looks like the lack of Character name and Text Chat were due to cutting corners. They would of been small projects that were probably set to the side due to bigger issues revolving around bringing the game to Console. JediRift✭✭✭Running around with our PSN names is one thing I really hate. Ruins immersion when I see all these PSN names everywhere.
We need to see character names, and only see the PSN if we inspect the player.
Same goes for leader boards, they are currently listing character names, but Zenimax says this is a mistake, and it will be changed to PSN. NOOOO.
