There are platform-specific forums for the Support and Guild Recruitment sections, but we don't currently have plans to add platform-specific forums for general discussion. Things are expectedly hectic during launch, but we're already seeing discussion moving more towards game-related topics, and support issues are more consistently being posted in the Support forums; we're actively moving and consolidating threads to support this.
We don't want to add platform-specific forums for general discussion, as this enforces a divide in the community, and result in redundancy of platform-neutral topics, and has the potential of siphoning off the support forums. We also don't want to add forums for launch activity and find there isn't sufficient platform-specific discussion to support them afterward. For example, during PC/Mac launch there were many platform threads in GD, but now they're relatively uncommon. While we may consider this past the launch spike, it isn't something we are currently looking to do.

Ahem. I seem to remember that there wasn't a General Discussions forum directly after launch back in '14, and a lot of non-technical discussion was going on in the tech support forums. But when GD was finally introduced, us forum dwellers took to it like ducks take to water. For example, during PC/Mac launch there were many platform threads in GD, but now they're relatively uncommon.

You are correct, but there were forums that served a similar purpose.KhajitFurTrader wrote: »Ahem. @ZOS_AlanG Can you at least keep up the pace with moving irrelevant support threads over to the Tech Support forums? This is mostly what is overwhelming the GD right now. And reporting them to be moved clearly isn't helping...

You are absolutely correct. The forums were a mess back them and that was because there was no proper organization and people were poorly informed of where the proper place to post was.coryevans_3b14_ESO wrote: »You will not be able to fix the divide in the community. You are absolutely right Coryevans. This is only going to lead with a much larger divide in the community with lots and lots of anger, resentment and frustration on both sides. It has fail all over it.

This exactly. If you move a topic MOVE it. The current procedure of copying the post to the correct forum and leaving the original to clog up the GD forum does not help anyone, is is rather insulting.
Redirects are left behind so those who participated in the thread can easily find it again. Redirects can't be bumped up, so they'll fall off the main page fairly quickly.
