Console addon-ons and text chat

As a veteran eso player since beta of last year i love this game and am awaiting console release. That being said......

My biggest annoyance is the inability to use add ons. Is there any plans to impliment add ons with console version?

My biggest concern is the is the lack of a chat system. Without chat it will be extremely hard to communicate with the world and xbox live parties only hold 8 people making trials and PvP difficult at best. Not to mention the in game market will suffer due to crafters need to be able to find customers and discuss what items are needed. Are there any plans to impliment a zone/world chat?

Nope no plans, games perfect in zos eyes, however they will be adding a "quick chat wheel "....
Might want to put first sentence in all caps ,bolded and underlined some seem to be missing the part of "A VETERAN PLAYER SINCE BETA OF LAST YEAR "

I agree with your concerns aswell.
In beta no one used voice chat that i encountered, some stayed in the channel but only saw 1 person use a mic, and that was to tell others "they suck " and that their "gay " .... Rofl yay random voice chat!
Funny i never had that happen in raidcall,vent,tsp3, gamevox, or mumble...whata conundrum: )

Well i dont expect that on console, while we dont have text chat logs, but for voice chat most will use their systems party features i assume. Psn party chat and what ever xbox uses, i didnt know u could use ts3 with console thats kinda cool.

Theres also party in game voice chat channels, and proximity chat. Which is basicly replacing chat logs or trying to lol.

Having played the BETA and PC, I personally enjoyed gameplay more without text chat at all.
    Add-ons were never an option

There is a group of players who do not favor the need of adding a cumbersome keyboard to the Xbox one
While text chat works for PC it's not an ideal addition to console and having played it on console adding text chat would be a negative vs a positive due to all that comes with adding such a feature.

PC suffers from it and those who are expecting a PC like experience if added have to realize that is not the reality.
Give the game an opportunity to be different for those who don't prefer PC gameplay who are more open to console like gameplay

When did the gameplay change? Pretty sure all games use the same action combat....
Thats why they sold us the pc version a year ago and told us they wouldnt be downgrade for console ..
Also you dont need a "physical keyboard " to type letters into ps4/xbone there is a onscreen keyboard that works fine. Especially for small text like : "vr14 templar heals lfg to raid AA " gee ivwould eally need a keyboard to type all that .... Guess we will ignore the fact keyboards ARE supported for naming guilds and characters ...lol hope the players can get thru it without a keyboard ....
Text chat cant add anything negative, you see its OPTIONAL on pc where as console you dont get a choice! Regardless of what you were SOLD a year ago.
Console actually will have text based chat, just not chat logs. They are creating an entire new system, the "quick chat wheel "
So ya know you can have chat bubbles with people in range of the forced voice comms .... Seeing a pattern yet? Lol

How am i gonna find customers or ask for group? Without the chat.. we do need that .am i supposed to stand at the entrance in davon watch screming materials for sale! .. xD it does sound funny but still. Not everyone has a mic the chat is an important element for mmo's .. sure the voice communication is awesome but its more for a group kind of thing.

I think zos is having a little experiment on how we will manage without text chat.. payed subscription for features not to take away something that is supposed to be in the game. Why can't they just leave it at that and prevent more people getting mad over this. Im sure im not the first

It's also possible to play the entire game without text chat or minimaps. Doesn't mean it's not a pain. Convenience addons exist for a reason. And consoles likely won't get any.
You can also play in Cyrodiil without addons and manage guilds without them. :p

Wait...And play the game and use the systems built for the game. Also there are plenty of ways to communicate and do commerce but they differ from PC. It's not a PC game so it's going to work and play differently.

I've offered many suggestions in other threads but have found that people seem to only be concerned with playing how they play on PC. Having played the console version my interactions were better than PC interactions. If you choose not to have a mic it's basically like playing on PC with a controller and no keyboard. Go ahead and get a headset.

If your biggest concern is communicating with the world and groups that are larger than 8, then you'll be just fine. The in-game chat system lets you talk to the world around you, and also lets you communicate with your 24-man groups. I spent the majority of the beta weekend pvping with 20-24 people, and every single person was in the group voice chat. I did have to mute the 1 guy who was constantly blaring death metal though :p

Cyrodiil was likely the selling point for the no text idea. Zos is probably banking on consoles being more PvP and small group focused. It'll work fine until people need to trade.

If this is a purchase you've made, play the game and pay attention to the tutorials and tool-tips in settings.

It has very reasonable options to enable and disable in less than 1 second.
You're entitled to your opinion tho but just commenting as your statement was not correct based on console beta experiences we've already had. I didn't want your comment to discourage others who have not had a chance to play or see the game in action.

lol this. I played Defiance....which if anyone played it for the first 6 months or so was a complete joke. This "text wheel" is not ground breaking. They did it in Defiance.

And ya, the only time I ever heard anyone in their voip was when they felt like being vulgar. And even then it was few and far between. I expect ESO console to be the same way. I also expect the ESO console launch to go very bad. Why? History is the greatest proof.

I would suggest watching the ZOS Twitch stream today where they will be playing PS4 console and answering Twitch questions via chat. It's a Sticky, post a question there.

Ask your questions to them directly.

This topic has literally been covered way too many times on this forum and we have to accept what we're getting on console now. Maybe after feedback, ZOS will make adjustments for text chat. I can assure you there won't be addons. There may be UI enhancements that will be added to the ESO UI, but that most likely will have to be added to both PC and Console.

Lol i dont have to accept anything, barely even bothering with playing at this point. If it wasnt for waiting a year i honestly wouldnt lol.
No one has to play this or accept anything ... Think pc proved that pretty well rofl.
To the O.P. no plans for addons, and no chat logs.
Just adding a "quick chat wheel "

Never been skyshard hunting blind have you?

    B) nah. I agree text chat is a much bigger issue.

I don't think it would be much fun to hunt for skyshards if an addon was telling me exactly where they are. No challenge, no fun.

Also, wouldn't the question of whether addons will be available on consoles be better posed to the companies who make the consoles? Aren't they considered third-party software?
