No Content For A Few Months, No Road Ahead...Why Continue Paying For A Subscription?

Frankly you are not yet playing on par with many of us. When we were where you are we too were perfectly contented. (Ha pun!) 13.5 months later though - not so much.

    That's kinda my point :-)
And I will continue to make sure I am stretching the available free content to its max.
If people want to turn it into a rat race that's their choice, but they shouldn't be surprised when they hit a void at some point.
Nice for you that you still enjoy the game, but you are not top level and that's why you shouldn't even attend this discussion.

You don't get to decide which people may attend a discussion on here. Ever. ;-)

It is a thread about content. If you haven't experienced the content of the game yet, why are you here commenting on content threads? In addition you accuse people of rushing through content? It makes absolutely no sense.

At this point it can only come across as laziness, or just not caring. I love this game, but I do feel that there should be SOOOO much more. I don't understand why you would launch without everyone's 2 favorite guilds, but okay you wanted to wait until you had a justice system, fine. But by now, we really should have them.

    Don't worry.

They announced last ESO live they are now putting all resources into developing Underwater Combat.

Because.. like who needs to fix lag in Cyrodil, release Imperial City or Wrothgar, Justice PvP, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood or anything else that has been promised for a year now.

    LIke.. cause Underwater Combat...

Can't believe people blink an eye at the subscription cost. Couple coins a day.

Don't worry, those silly whales with too much money will be more than happy to keep the money coming in for those that leave. You can count on that. When the consoles release, those damn lazy whales will pay for all those shortcuts in the cash shop as well. They will get a huge increase in profit once June hits.

Yeah, I believe it sets the wrong tone when in the Developer Discussion there is nothing about what's currently wrong in the game or what's planned for the future. Instead, there is something stickied as to what we would like to see in the Crown Store. Having pre-ordered the game and remaining a subscribing customer since the beginning, now that the change has occurred, I'm more interested in the additional content described in the ESO Plus Membership selling points.
    • Access to all DLC Game Packs as long as ESO Plus membership is current.
Being disabled and living on a fixed budget, ESO was my gaming choice for a digital escape. The Crowns are interesting, and I admit that I did purchase each of the dog mini-pets as a novelty. But once I thought about it, I would have never purchased these if not for the excess of Crowns I now receive each month. If the game was still the subscription based model it was in the beginning and those same mini-pets were offered up for $X.XX, I would have never purchased them. And as someone who plays a fair amount as an escape to pain, I have completed every solo quest in-game so far that there is. So the other two selling points of the ESO Plus Membership just fall short.
    • 1500 Crowns per 30-day membership, given at time of payment.
    • +10% upgrade to character progression.
Is it worth it for me to continue paying for an ESO Plus Membership from now until new content comes out? If when new content comes out and I've continued to pay and accrue Crowns, will there be items that are worth me having saved for so long?

I guess I just want to be able to come to the forums and see what they [Bethesda] have planned for the future of this game as opposed to what ideas we might have for the future of the Crown Store. Please don't get me wrong, I think it's great that Bethesda wants to know what the players want from the future of the game, and I would hope that conversations like that are always an open thread.

To the Devs, thanks for the great work you do, even if we do complain. And to the other players, game on! I wonder if the North American Megaserver is back online?

3 months of developed content can be played through in a handful of hours, even if you only play sometimes. There will always never be enough content unless you are a player coming in after 10+ years of solid development having already been done.

People subscribe to a B2P game because they believe that there is value in that sub. If you don't find value in it, then you don't have to subscribe. It's no one's place to try to justify it to you unless you already feel personally justified to do so. If you are asking "why continue?" you've already answered it and it comes across as you just baiting for attention to something that everyone already has asked themselves and decided upon.

For some, the exp boost is more than enough incentive. Especially if they have limited amount of time to play.
For others, the aesthetics are just what they look for in their games. Those mounts and pets ARE worth a monthly payment to them.
For a few, theysee their subscription as a vote of confidence for the game, caring little for anything else about benefits or store items. That's not charity, that's investment in their future entertainment.

    For me it's just math.

It is looking to me that the DLC content that you have to buy when you do not have a subscription will simply not come out fast enough to make a $15/mo sub better value than simply purchasing the content.

Let's say the DLC is $30 on average (which I think is pretty expensive and probably overestimating), they would have to release content every 2 months to get better value from a subscription, that is the "perks" and the 1500 crowns.

I don't see stuff coming out every 2 months. If it gets pushed to 3-4 months per release of DLC then you are definitely getting the shaft as an ESO plus member.

Now, I could be wrong about all this, the price will be less for content and they will release new stuff on a 6 week schedule. Then your sub becomes far more valuable, and the extra crown you get can be used to purchase the DLC content so you have access to it even if you take a break for a few months.

But for right now, with the focus on consoles and no new content for who knows how long, it makes little sense to stay subbed.

Zenimax stated a while back that after 1.6 the main focus will be on getting the game released on consoles (They've only waited about a year and few months of delays) and to not expect any updates until after then.

I'm not 100% sure if it was true or not, but there was word going around for a bit that we wont be receiving any major updates all throughout the summer, though they are probably planning on releasing the first DLC sometime in the summer. Because if they don't, all the people that join ESO in the summer rise wont be staying around to long, and the people that were playing before then and got where they wanted wont be around longer then them.

I'm hoping for imperial city in the summer, but that's probably not gonna happen.
