You should be blaming the consumers at least as much as, if not more than, the companies.

Oh trust me, I do. If the unwashed masses would just wake up and see what they're being shoveled...things would change.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

Ya, titles to show off might be nice, but I'm not bothered either way. Not having them doesn't change a thing for me.
In most games that I've played I never displayed any titles when they were available.

Or maybe it's that I've gotten used to ZOS's, ahem!, creative design choices. If I hadn't, we wouldn't be having this discussion. There are other worlds than these.

I guess despite some commonalities, you and I are somewhat different after all ;)

Okay, can you list one thing specific that you haven't yet completed and you want to do so?

"I want to do X" I'm working on accomplishing Y"

Sure, completing all events and locations in all zones would be one. Getting all Cyrodiil skyshards on my main characters is another. Getting all my crafts maxed. Just to name a few. There are more I might add, as they come up.
Note that making a V14 is not on that list. I'll get there when I get there.

I hate to burst your bubble but here goes:
    Micallef wrote: »

This will take you 1 day tops if you do it on your alliance's buff server. If you do it on a hotly contested server as I did (the danger of pvp while getting them is more fun imo) you can up that to maybe a week.

Now, each one of these dungeons that has shards also spawns about 2-5 bosses. They don't all spawn at the same time. So, if you make it a goal to kill each boss, and you do it on a contested server....you're looking at maybe 2 weeks.
    Micallef wrote: »

This can take a while if you do it without purpose. But if you try to level them they are all crazy easy and fast to level. The only thing that takes time is research....and that's only because they artificially make it take a long time with the cool down.

The actual game-hours it takes to max everything is very very few.

Except for Nirn. If you want to research Nirn and you don't want to buy the Nirn then you have to harvest about 45,897,987 resource nodes to get the nirn.

Sorry, but ^ that's not progression or exploration or completion. That's senseless grind.
    Micallef wrote: »

That's really not too bad. It only feels bad because the questing to get from VR1 to VR14 is horribly redundant. So, most grind the levels or some of the levels. In which case, it's still not that many game-hours...it's just the most horrible boring and brutal game hours ever.

    Which brings me to...
    Micallef wrote: »

This is my point. If you have reached lvl 50 and completed Cold Harbor...then YOU ALREADY HAVE. They are all the same.

The leveling experience, all the quests, and locations, and world boss mechanics, etc....from level 1-50 are simply repeated with new graphic skins in VR1-5.

Lets say at level 30 you are facing a world boss that is a group of 3 zombies. at level VR 3 you will face the same world boss mechanic in the same spot on another alliance but it will be pirates instead of zombies.

Lets say at level 10 you are putting out fires to save some humans. At VR1 you are putting out fires to save some elves.

I'm sad to say we are very much the same, I'm just ahead of you. I'm just you from the future.

@olemanwinter I disagree. Lookit, I've been here since early access. You are ahead of me while I say, what's the rush?
This is the part you don't seem to get.
I don't need to have all skyshards in Cyrodiil right this minute. I want them but it's ok when the opportunity presents itself.
As for all content, no I haven't done everything just because I have one lvl 50+ char. Some events or loacations I've skipped at the time because I couldn't complete them on my own and I couldn't find a group at the time. I'll return to them, at my leasure.

I've got plenty of timelines and deadlines IRL, I play to relax and so I enjoy the journey. While I do like to complete things, there's no compulsion to do them in any particular order or timeframe. If I don't reach my goals ingame by the end of this year, well there's 2016 or 2017. The last thing I seek in my gaming is deadlines, stress and obligations.

Completion appears to be our common goal but our methods don't appear to be even similar.

P.S.: no need for any 'sorry' ☺ it takes all kinds of people and it's a good exchange of ideas.

Dude, some of us did the exact same thing. I played for about 1000 hours before I reached vr14. But when you reach it, you realise all you did in the past was a total waste and that the game is in fact plain bad.

Nice for you that you still enjoy the game, but you are not top level and that's why you shouldn't even attend this discussion. You will get there eventually. If you still enjoy the game for months after vr14 then I'll be surprised.

Allthough, some people don't have any standards when it comes to PvP and enjoy infinite AP grinding. Maybe you are one of the lucky ones.

I am with OP on this one

No new zone content,. a vague ESOlive communication line that claimed no new content till after June

but nothing in stone, I love the game, I still play but I only grind my own enlightenment, then I am off playing a new sandbox game and not to mention in 5 days another RPG is released who's lore is just as amazing as ESO,. frankly for now I don't have much to keep me here,. as I said I only grind my enlightenment and then I am out of the door and a voice inside of me is already asking myself out loud why I would even want to grind the CP,. it doesn't give me much satisfaction

be it that I grind mobs, be it that I do daily quest,. fact remains that I already done that content number of times

still I would sub back on the day new content is released

I still enjoy the game very much. Exploring the crap out of Tamriel. Haven't got a V14 yet, taking my sweet time so I'm not fussed about new content. Haven't paid a single cent since the beginning of the year. Haven't spent a single 'loyalty' crown yet. Don't see the need.
Good enough reasons for my buddy and I.
The game quality has remained the same, more or less, except that now it's free.

I actually unsubscribed a few weeks ago and before that my playing habits went from everyday to may twice a week. I just couldn't take it anymore. The veteran grind the second time around was the end of me liking the game. The lack of XP and meaningful loot was also a breaking point. As a long time fan of TES the plot of this game was great, main story, the alliance, and fighter/mage guilds. I have not logged in for a while and as of yet there's nothing to bring my back to the game. The DLC's would have to be just as amazing as the game itself for the price, no more 19.99$ DLC's like Skyrim since rare motifs are 40$, looking at the current prices in the crown store. I'm just going to save my money until I hear of something great for TESO: TU or TES6, which is rumored for release in 1st quarter 2016.

This is exactly how I have been. I used to play around 2 hours daily now I jump on for 30 minutes once or twice a week. I am VR9 and the grinding is so boring, there is nothing to look forward to, and the content is not there.

    *snip*

This is the problem with business and corporations...the "need to grow and make more money". There was a time when people who ran businesses were more concerned with putting out the best quality product they could as a matter of pride....and THEN counting the beans as they rolled in because people want a quality product.

Somewhere along the road, they took the other fork...the one that leads to what is happening now. Businesses don't really care about quality product, it's all about the bottom line and whether or not there's enough profit so someone can have their fifty room mansion with ten gold plated hot tubs in each bathroom.

I guarantee that if Zenimax put out a quality product, people WOULD literally throw money at them. I know I would.

Except it's not a quality product that deserves my money. Not any more. Not since the additions and changes.

I think a large part of it is about shifting of corporations too. Corps, even though they are treated like people (at least in the US), They don't need to persist like people. A person can have a history, like criminal, or if they've been sued, etc. Corps can too but they can be wiped and new ones made, pretty much tabula rasa style - you might be able to get some info on board members and key people here and there as long as the info hasn't been kept secret.

What corps need to have a good reputation these days? Not any that I can think of.

And I agree with you about profit. Unfortunately, what this means is in regards to quality is...

If company A can get 200% ROI with a non quality product in a year and company B can get a 20% ROI for a quality product (more expensive to produce), who do you think greedy investors will go with?

ZOS... if I might make a suggestion on this note. The limited time senche was a good idea, but I think you could get a little more panic and a much higher sales rate with a limited quantity sale. The first 500, 5000, or whatever people get the mount and then it won't be available until the next time it is offered. Use the senche numbers as a baseline and add to that to get more sales from the event.

You sir are a horrible man. I had been checking the Crown Store often to see when new stuff would come out, and the one freaking weekend I don't they offer one of the few mounts I would buy. Pissed me off, so I don't like your suggestion. :)

I don't think the benefits from subscribing are bad. The main problem is the content of the game, and the execution of current content.

I'm very disappointed. I wouldn't have bought this game if I knew how bad endgame is. I have spent thousands of hours to perfect my build and develop my character, but theres nothing for him to do, no place for him to prove himself. I've run the same dungeons/dsa/trials 50 times, and I'm sick of it. I tried doing daily pledges again today and I just quit in the middle of it. I rather vacuum my house now then play ESO, it is way more rewarding and fun.

It doesn't help that ESO PvP definitely is the worst multiplayer experience I've had in years. The whole AP farming, horse-riding , laggy, no individual skill concept is unbelievable.

I'm still here on forums though, complaining. Hoping that ESO one day will fulfill my expectations.

I stopped paying for a subscription until they actually release new content. Personally I think it's highly possible they are likely sitting on a lot of things that are already mostly complete or purposely managing their work load so that new content is ready for release dates after the console launch.

The last significant content for the PC version of the game was Upper Craglorn which was 6 months ago and that was really just stuff they probably already had mostly finished. Craglorn will be 1 year old in 8 days time which means we have basically had 1 new zone in a year. For me this simply isn't enough especially considering the amount of money they reaped from when the game was subscription based. The games a lot of fun but it's somewhat hard to find reasons to continue playing atm particularly from a PvE perspective.

Just because you started playing a year late doesn't mean the rest of us "raced" to the end. The game has been out a long time now. That "rat race" argument is no longer valid. It's not normal to allow 6+ months to elapse with no new content and nothing coming for many more months. It will likely be a year before any new content is released and the last content that was released was supposed to be in the game at launch..so that gives you an idea of the amount of content drought we are talking about.

    Sheesh!

Fair enough. If you managed to stretch the content out for this long then good job I guess? But that works both ways..don't imply that others have "raced" to the end and somehow skipped over content or didn't enjoy the ride. I have done all the leveling content on two characters and almost done with a third. I didn't grind or skip content. I did every quest and found all POI and have completed a huge amount of achievements. I have all crafting and research maxed. There is nothing about my playstyle that indicates I "raced" to anything. If the game had been out 3 months that argument might have worked but enough time has elapsed to complete all the content many times over.

So, if you aren't doing the things you wanted to do now....what are you doing in the meantime?

    Are you sure.....100% sure....you're not a roleplayer?

    I am honestly not understanding.

Man 1: "You got anything planned today?"

Man 2: "Sure big Big plans. Today I'm going to ride my bike to the store"

Man 1: "The store is 500 yards away, that's not going to take very long at all"

Man 2: "Yeah, but I'm not leaving right away".

Man 1: "So....you have no plans for most of the day?

Man 2" "You just don't understand me at all"

    LOL :D

EDIT: OR another perhaps better analogy would be reading a book. I don't really understand how it would be possible for someone to purposefully slow down the reading of a book to spread out the enjoyment unless you literally put the book down and cease reading it. I don't think someone would/could purposefully slow...down....their....reading...speed.

So, if someone said, "Hey that book you are ordering is only 13 pages long". I'm having trouble imagining someone saying "Yeah, but I plan to....read...it...reeaallllyyyy....sloowwwwwllyyyy"

Not sure if it makes people feel better talking about it, but it's pretty clear their model now is to milk money out of people in bursts with minimal cost in resources For high margin.

Right now, console is the big burst they focus on and clearly do not have resources to spare outside of that even to address balance issues let alone content. From there they probably have content ready but they will get a bigger burst of sales out of it if console players are ready to pay for it as well So they will probably wait a few weeks after launch to drop that.

Really the sub is there just to calm the people afraid of a full on cash shop supported game. If those people wasn't to be naive enough to pay likely more over the non-content months than the content likely will cost, just to rent it; then it's just a cherry on top.
