Were you angling alone, or with friends? I've found that with a group of people you get the rare fish much much much faster than if you're alone. I think a group of 4-6 is probably the ideal size, because it's enough to significantly increase the drop rate of greens and blues, but still few enough that you don't use up a fishing hole after only 2 casts.
That's absolutely not true. When there's more than one person fishing in the same hole the hole gets used up faster, but the drop rate of rare fish increases drastically (ZOS has even specifically said that's how it works). After spending a couple of hours fishing (keeping in mind that a good chunk of that time is going from hole to hole, and another good chunk of that time is just goofing around) with a group of people I'll typically have around a dozen blue fish, and maybe 40 green fish. If I spend that time fishing alone (which involves less time spent going from hole to hole, and virtually no time just goofing around), I'll have a fraction of that. With the right number of people there, you're going to get either a green, a blue, or a wet gunny sack almost every other cast of the line.
i never fish with others, it just diminishes your chances of gettings anything.
since an average hole is around 15-20 fishes.i got about 9-10 rare fishes in about 7 zones each , and only alone.
