Sorry, I don't mean to be argumentative, I was just saying that there's no reason that every Akaviri sword needs to be a katana, any more than every Nord sword has to be a viking sword. As for the cultural influences, there are swords from Japan,

    China,

    and Korea,

    that aren't katanas.

I don't disagree that the akaviri wielded dai-katanas, I just think there's room for more variety in their weaponry.

On the last point, I was referring specifically to dai-katanas, but still I must admit I was wrong. After looking into it, there is a sword from Oblivion called an Akaviri Dai-katana. My point, however, was that prior to Oblivion, katanas were never stated to be an akaviri invention, as they were either simply called katanas (or steel katanas) or they were daedric in nature. It's a minor piece of trivia, and not worth my arguing.

(P.S., during the time period of ESO, there were two separate akaviri invasions that people would remember. One, the invasion of northern tamriel about ten years prior to ESO, involved the Kamal, and was relevant primarily to members of the Ebonheart Pact. The other happened near the end of the First Era, seven or eight centuries before ESO, and involved the Tsaesci. These were the invaders that eventually pledged themselves to Reman, leading to the Akaviri Potentates and the Dragonguard, and later the Dragon Knights, the Syffim (and thus the fighters guild), and the Blades. So while both Tsaesci and Kamal weaponry could be around during ESO, the fighter's guild armor and weapons, including the prismatic weapons, would more likely come from the Tsaesci.)
