I'm not sure if the dropped rate changed, but certainly the chances of finding motifs changed when they started filling cabinets and other containers with Legerdemain items. I will admit that farming motifs is much harder now. I did so to make some in-game gold and was an enjoyable part of the game. Now farming motifs will be almost as worthless as the equipment crafting writs.

There were no mounts in ESO at launch onwards until a couple of months ago finally when the 1.6 patch went live along with the brand new cash store/crown shop, other than those bought with gold in-game (the Imperial Horse which was completely cosmetic as part of the Collector's Edition (imperial edition) and had far worse stats than the other ones in the game was the sole exception).

OMG they added another cosmetic item to the crown store, next thing you know you'll be able to buy fully leveled characters with maxed out skills, all skill points, maxed cp, maxed ap, all motifs and 10,000,000 gold in the bank!!!
I love it when people over react.

Hell I can't think of any reason anyone would want to spend your points on them. Then again if you are subscribed look at it like this, every month you get a free motif, ever 4 months you get a free imperial or dwemer motif
I dont see what all fuss is about the Motifs to be honest serious what is different the sell Motifs or Costume that look like any of High Elf, Ancient Elf, Argonian, Barbaric, Wood Elf, Breton, Daedric, Dark Elf, Dwemer, Imperial, Khajiit, Nord, Orc, Primal or Redguard armor yeah big different is that you can craft and it will get stats on so what if i do any armor it will get same stats so this no P2W and honest people this way for you complete you craft books to get all styles for armor and beside it can be found in the game as well.
I have been try for month to get my hand on Dwemer, Imperial and Barbaric and i get really tried of not get it so yeah i go to buy those Motifs to complete my crafting books.

- Another failure, All you guys are doing with this stuff is punishing the old players, all the time and the hours we have used to get this stuff ingame, and now you can just buy it in the CS. Pulse now it's one more thing, that are removed from the ingame economy.

Bolded part is what you are guilty of... which was kind of the point of that post.OMG they added another cosmetic item to the crown store, next thing you know you'll be able to buy fully leveled characters with maxed out skills, all skill points, maxed cp, maxed ap, all motifs and 10,000,000 gold in the bank!!!

Bolded part is now reality so... yeah, possible the rest could also happen.
Not saying it couldn't ever happen, it's just a really large leap from motifs to the rest of that list.
In the official Crown Store suggestion thread after the B2P announcement, people were pretty clear they didn't want to see EXP boosters and motifs, amongst other things. What are we getting? EXP boosters and motifs.
They don't give a Guar what their playerbase thinks is appropriate. If you still think there are any limits to them, you didn't pay attention.
6. Maybe motifs and recipes. The common ones for sure, but I'm undecided on whether purple and gold motifs and blue and purple recipes should be available in the Crown store.
