I'm not sure if the dropped rate changed, but certainly the chances of finding motifs changed when they started filling cabinets and other containers with Legerdemain items. I will admit that farming motifs is much harder now. I did so to make some in-game gold and was an enjoyable part of the game. Now farming motifs will be almost as worthless as the equipment crafting writs.

it changed. they started inserting purple legerdemain items into the drop rotation in certain zones and that screwed it up. It suddenly started beginning to have a sequence pattern like legerdemain item > recipe > motif on a rotational timer. also the changeover to DST screwed the timers up as well..

Your post is completely false. There were no mounts in ESO at launch onwards until a couple of months ago finally when the 1.6 patch went live along with the brand new cash store/crown shop, other than those bought with gold in-game (the Imperial Horse which was completely cosmetic as part of the Collector's Edition (imperial edition) and had far worse stats than the other ones in the game was the sole exception).

The Palomino horse was sold via a small "shop" in the Account page, together with the Imperial Edition upgrade.

The statistical drop rate probably wasn't changed. But the table was expanded with legerdemain trash. So, before, you were rolling the dice for a motif, a recipe, a random piece of trash gear, or motif stones. Now you're rolling the dice for a motif, recipe, random piece of trash gear, fence trash, clothing, or motif stones. And, fence trash has a fairly high drop rate. So, in the end, the result is the same. This is in combination with the justice system making motif farming more time consuming and... yes, there was a ninja nerf to the drop rates.

To put it simply, I think people are overreacting because buying a visual style isn't P2W and, most importantly, buying motifs is simply not a good deal at the current price. You will probably find that most people will still opt to buy the motifs they need with in-game currency.

Unless you are farming sheep, if you plan on leveling legerdemain, it's better off just to get motifs the old way.. Hell I can't think of any reason anyone would want to spend your points on them. Then again if you are subscribed look at it like this, every month you get a free motif, ever 4 months you get a free imperial or dwemer motif

I have been try for month to get my hand on Dwemer, Imperial and Barbaric and i get really tried of not get it so yeah i go to buy those Motifs to complete my crafting books.

I still don't see anything in crown store worth actually buying crowns with real money. All the stuff what is in there I can obtain in-game EXCEPT Rings of Mara. Luckily I had that already, but had to remove it because of over-leveling the zones where I was questing. Maybe they should implement an option to buy Rings of Mara with gold in-game?

    The fuss is:
    1) As an active trade guild member this is bad for the economy of the game, bad for the trade guilds who use those sales of motifs.
    2) Why have rare items in game just to put them in store? Now they are not rare and we who have helped build this game by subbing and supporting it since beta are left with "sorry for your luck, we don't care how much work you put in".
Entitled "we want it without working for it" players are now the focus of Zos, imo.. But to your response, this is bad M'Kay...

The decent thing to do in these circumstances would actually be to up the drop rate in game. What will probably happen of course is the very opposite.

If they say something is still available in game then technically it is - even if the chance of getting it is one in a squllion.

They did this in LOTRO I recall. Put things you really wanted in the store then said they were also obtainable in game so that justified putting them in the store too - except the in game drop rate was so very low you had no choice but to buy them if you actually wanted them.

They say a fool and their money is easily parted, the motifs are not cheap if you opt to buy them from the CS so I do not think that the sales for in game gold will slow much.

Normal MOTIF`s are selling for 600-750 gold in the EU server which is not hard to obtain in game and if someone opts to use real cash to buy that then more fool them. I think my MOTIF sales from the traders will not be noticeably impacted.
Even the more expensive ones are priced high enough in crowns to make the current in game costs at traders competitive.

If SOZ (sorry ZOS, I always get that backwards) start doing sales thats when the in game economy will suffer from this.

    *sighs*

Only a couple of weeks ago, in the AUA, I believe Mr Matt Firor answered the question "What is the rarist drop in the game" - to which he replied "The Dwemer Book".

2 Weeks later - oh, look what you can buy in the store.....

It's the fact they are acting like a bunch of VC's who have just bought a company. They are striping out the core attributes and putting them up for sale.

With the lack of End Game content, the slow erosion of their own economy and the rare drops/items now being sold in the crown store...where is the actual reason to play the game?

Bolded part is what you are guilty of... which was kind of the point of that post.

Not saying it couldn't ever happen, it's just a really large leap from motifs to the rest of that list.

Alright, I'll concede that I may have spoken in anger so some of what I said could be considered over the top. However it does not set a good precedent when what was initially mockingly joked about starts to become a reality. Not good, not good at all. Fact of the matter is that this cheapens the game experience and the interesting crafting style system they developed for this game. There's rare items in the game that were very much sought after and sold for high prices (in gold). Now you can get them by simply whipping out your credit card.

It's bad for the spirit of the game, and this is coming from a guy who hates the dwemer page system.

Doesn't matter to me how inexpensive or expensive these crown store items are. The fact that they're there in the first place tells me where the game is going. How much more cosmetic stuff can they monetise besides costumes and motifs? When the money well dries up, they're going to look elsewhere.

Why do people keep saying that these are a cosmetic item?

They are a crafting item. That their eventual effect is cosmetic is utterly irrelevant. The original function of the motif book is to extend your ability to craft certain items. That means that the motif book itself is not a cosmetic item.

That is why this addition is utter guar dung. If they were selling costumers in the shop that allowed you, personally, to buy the appearance of the armour defined by a particular motif then that would be a cosmetic item. These motifs allow anyone to craft the armour pieces for anyone, i.e. this is an effect that goes beyond your own character.

    These are different things.
