GAME CRASHING HAS RETURNED :(

Been having this problem since the last update as well. The client disconnects from the servers, it still runs locally on my machine until it times out and kicks to log in.

This is the first time I have seen this problem, even in closed beta I did not encounter this, and have been playing since closed beta.

Same machine from then until now.
    Core I7 3770K
    680 GTX
    16 Gigs of Ram
    SSD drive
    Windows 7 64 OS

I have always played on max settings

Something has been changed in the network data handling that is not happy about being changed.

And I appear to have solved my problem. That blasted windows 10 downloader was running in the background. Once I shut it down, no more disconnects. I had actually forgotten about it, as I had no intention of using windows 10 for a few months yet.

This is my live update. I have deleted my ESO user files in my documents entirely. I have also before launching the game decided to do the initial launch with everything on minimum settings because I heard that it changes some of the shaders or something only when launched on minimum. I have been playing longer now then I have been able to for the last couple days. Still haven't crashed since I have done this. I will let you guys know what else happens. My snow isn't shiny anymore but if that means I can play then hells ye!

I did a total reinstall, and also dumped my settings/docs BUT SAVED A BACKUP FIRST. I got a clean launch after that, then GRADUALLY reintroduced my addons and then finally put my settings back in (while saving a "virgin" copy). Last night when my machine was about to crash at a vendor, it paused...but then played on. Only got to play for an hour last night before bed to cycle toons for mats pickups/housekeeping; did one dungeon with one toon, but it all seemed good.

Here's to hoping that the fresh reinstall fixed any cruft from a year of patches.

I instaled windows 10 64 bits, and i'm now downloading ESO. I will try what you did.

One more question, can you play in cyrodill? if yes this is ultimate prove that it's working. Also did you download your game from steam? just to know if the problem is from a source or something

I have posted on PTS forums as this occurred during PTS, but I will also mention that I am having the same exact problems as everyone else here.

    System specs:
    Core i7 5930k
    MSI r9 390
    16 gigs of ram
400 gb SSD which ESO is installed on

In PTS I consistently crash when trying to load IC. On live, I also consistently crash. Let me be more specific here. I will either get the infinite loading bug or ESO will freeze in whatever current state I'm in. Now I am able to open Task Manager and close ESO, but as soon as I do my system either A) Restarts or B ) Locks up completely requiring me to do a Hard reboot. And yes this has even occurred with mods off. Please ZOS, fix your damn buggy code. I'll do it for you if you guys want...

I have to do a serious session and try Cyrodil as well; that was also really unstable before.

Sometimes I get client freezes, there can be days without one, then I get two in a row.

The only pattern I have noticed so far is that they occur when I'm sprinting (on foot or on a horse).
I get them in Riften and Mournhold (while riding) and sometimes in Spindleclutch (while sprinting and healing - in there I often get them twice in a row).

    Windows 7 - 64
    I7 2600
    nVidia GTX 460
    16 gb ram

I tried turnig off the nVidia streaming service which someone suggested on one of these threads. While it sure feels like I'm getting a lot less client freezing, I still get some with that service turned off.

Notice, only the client freezes, not the entire system so we can't blame overheating (I keep the electronics clean regularly) or general kernel failure.

Hello, I solved my problem with game crashes simply reducing the "view distance" option to 25.
    My PC mounts a gtx 970, an Inter Core i5- 4460, CPU@ 3.20 GHz and 8GB Ram.
I'm playing with Ultra-High settings and I used to crash especially in crowded places, like Grahtwood. I tried really anything (reinstalling the game, reinstalling old drivers, changing the usersettings file, etc) till I solved the problem reducing the view distance. Hope this could be useful.

The same for me, game always goes up to max ram for 32 bit apps and crashes... Since I'm often in highly populated areas the game crashes quite often, sometimes 2x - 3x per hour.
This happens to me since last patch, hope the orsinium DLC will fix this, it's making the game unplayable.

EDIT: correction, the game goes up to max ram even in low populated areas, if the DLC does't correct this I can't play :-(

Is this update going to fix the issue with crashing? I've been crashing at least once an hour (or less), it's really annoying. It's not my ISP. I disabled all of my add-ons and turned my graphics settings to low. Never had this issue before.

I can't log back in after I get kicked, I have to start the game from the Launcher otherwise I'll get a "Login Timeout" or "Could not connect to server, please try again later" message. I hope this issue is addressed because it's becoming a huge pain in the rear.

I know that this is super not helpful, but my new rig seems to be doing OK. I think having a really new vid card is part of the help. Ditto for using a 64-bit OS, which is what tech help at Zmax kept saying....

Also, DO check the age of your router. Routers can flake out slowly over time. My performance also improved a lot when I finally got around to replacing my 10-year old klunker.

    Good luck!

No idea why but deleting UserSettings.txt from the ESO folder in documents solved my crashing issues.

    Hope it helps someone.

    Greetings everyone here!

We recommend that players who are experiencing crash issues on their Windows 32-bit PC to follow the steps below:

Locate and access the Usersettings.txt file

By default this file is located here:
    •C:\Users\user.name\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live
    or
    •C:\Users\user.name\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\liveeu

Find the line SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D11" or SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D9" in the file.
Change the line to: SET GraphicsDriver.7 "OPENGL". Please save the file after making the change.

Should the game keep crashing, please contact our dedicated Customer Support team and include the following information in your ticket:
•A copy of the Game Consultant information: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6690
•A copy of the MSInfo for further investigation: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4463

These files can be attached to the ticket. Please note that these files can be very large and should not be copy/pasted into the contents of an e-mail.

Please be assured that this is a temporary workaround to allow you to enjoy playing the game while we research a more substantial solution to this crashing issue that continues to happen.

Some players have reported success in disabling a specific windows update that was applied, but at this time we do not have confirmation which update it was or whether it was effective.

    Alrighty, so....

I tried this fix and now it seems there is some kinda graphical driver crash when I attempt to run the game.

@Samm13 are you Overclocking your GPU?

try lowering it's clocks a bit. For some reason ESO makes even the more modest overclocks crash, overclocks that are stable in witcher and unigine heaven with 99% utilization fail in a mere 60% utilization in ESO.

    thanks

Experiencing the exact same issue here. I've been trying to fix this for 4 days now, with zero change. Have tried everything that I can possibly think of to resolve the issue. Played ESO several months back, and had no problems at all with the game, including when I was running SweetFX with it, and a dozen mods.

I'm able to play any other game I want to, with no issues at all what so ever. Other games ramp my GPU usage/power up to 80-90% in some cases, and I experience no crashing, even after 10+ hours. Unigine didn't crash at all, unless I overclocked my card well past what it's capable of.

I have underclocked my card, done clean installs of drivers, removed any ESO related stuff in documents, and re-installed the game. I've tried running the game in DX9, as well as on minimum graphics settings. I've tweaked about every option there is to tweak in the Nvidia control panel. I've even removed any software that I had installed between now, and the last time I was able to play the game without issues.

While running ESO, my GPU usage and power do not go above about 60%. The temp hasn't gone above 65c or so. There have been no spikes in anything before or after the crashing occurs.

My GPU drivers are up to date, currently running 359.06. I have rolled them back as far as 358.50 as well, with no change.

I've re-installed C++ and DirectX as well, hoping that might help fix the problem.

Also contacted support, and have yet to hear back from them.

    Setup:

    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
    i7 950 3.07 CPU
    GTX 660 2GB GPU
    12GB DDR3 RAM
    750w PSU

I was contacted today about it by support and..

    1. Locate the launcher folder. The default location is C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Zenimax Online\Launcher.
    2. Make a copy of the launcher folder and rename that copy "Launcher back up"
    3. Open the initial/non-copied Launcher folder and delete all "host developers files"that are marked with a number. For Example: host developer1, hostdeveloper2, etc.
The only file that should remain in that folder is the host developer file that is not marked with a number and is created the day of the re-install.
    4. Close Everything and then Reopen the Launcher.

And so far this evening its been better been able to play for more then 5 mins so far.... I also recommend as someone did at one time to .. after game lauchs have task manager open and right click on the game and go to details and set priority to high... dont know if it is part of the solution but it doesnt hurt.. Ill post back if this solution fails for me.. I hope we all get fixed up good...
