My goodness - perhaps the most perfect example of the Dunning Kruger effect I've encountered in a long, long time.

    Well done, sir!

    Do you RP?
I always like to believe that Dunning and Kruger were on different ends of the Dunning Kruger effect... Like one of them was really bad at psychology, but thought he was great, while the other was really skilled at it, but thought that it was just because it was easy for everyone.

That's hilarious, UrQuan, but fun to imagine. Then again there are few products of legitimate, scholarly study as amusing as the Dunning Kruger effect....in, you know, a tragic way ;)

Ok, don't nerf it. Then give me the equivalent in stamina when I use a melee weapon. I don't want to be forced to use a staff to be competitive, and as it stands that's the case.

Two-Hander with the passive that gives you combat recovery on kills. It's not the exact same thing, but it is a major stamina recovery source.

No it's not and quit frankly it doesn't regenerate enough. I waste a lot of magika trying to kill shield spammers who can block 99% of my magika damage. troll elsewhere.

I get it, it's a super cool concept... And I use it. But the amount of magicka restored after a heavy attack is literally insane.

Do I want to use a resto staff as my 2nd weapon? Absolutely not. But, if I don't I'm gimping myself beyond belief (compared to everyone else).

If this were to be a balanced feature of the game, heavy attacks with melee weapons should restore the equivalent percentage of stamina. Although, I'm not asking for that at all.. What I would rather see is the percentage of magicka returned from a heavy attack with a resto staff lessened.
Uh, Heavy Attacks from other weapons do restore stamina, for about 3 major patches now, unless it changed and I missed it... :|

They do, but it certainly doesn't seem that it restores nearly as much. Maybe I'm missing something tho?

Restoration Staff has a passive that increases the amount of Magicka restored with a heavy attack.

Prior to the change that added this feature to all weapons, only Restoration Staff regenerated resources by heavy attacking.

Healing is a different mechanic than damage... and Tanking.

    Apples and Oranges and Bananas.

Damage Casters using it to restore their magica faster? I can see a problem with that. If that is the concern, then perhaps we need to set the requirement that the magicka gain from a restoration staff only happens after a person has casted healing spells.

Make it so the mechanic creates stacks, so that the more healing a person does, the greater the stacks build up. It should prevent a magicka-based damage dealer from abusing it.

THIS. That is a solution to the problem.
Only problem with this is that when initiating a Heavy Restro attack, you are casting a healing spell...

There is also a passive that heals nearby allies a percentage of the damage on the last tick of the Heavy attack.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

If resto staff heavy damage was close to other weapons then I could see nerfing the gain, as it is now you must sacrifice damage to gain magicka.

    No.....just weapon swap
