it's hilarious that frigging wow who started the trend now includes a proper party search while zenimax is still struggling for over a year with basic lfg-tools.

I'm guessing it works for some and DOESN'T work for most. The tool is clearly bugged and not working properly. Tons of people are queing up on a regular basis. It's been tested, used, and abused. Created an entirely new backend system for the Grouping Tools to help you get into groups much faster.
When searching for Dungeons, Veteran Dungeons, and Dragonstar Arena, the group will only form once a full group is found.
When searching for a medium sized Trial, a group will only form once 8 members of required roles are found. The system will continue to search for more player characters once the group is formed.
Added the location “All” for Activity Types (Dungeon, Veteran Dungeons and Trials). This will allow you to group for any of these activities that you meet the minimum requirements for.
The activities will scale to the group leader.
The grouping tool will place you in a group within five levels or ranks of each other."
Some or all of those changes busted the LFG tool and it hasn't worked correctly since. This was NOV 3rd 2014. It was working just fine right before this patch when they introduced dungeon scaling and attempted to adjust the LFG tool to match the new dungeon system. Right before this patch, you could find a group as a DPS within 30 mins and almost instantly as a Tank or healer. And this was when the game's population was at it's lowest.

It is supposed to wait for the whole group to be found, before it shows it to the player. That means that the one using group finder could well be in a group with 2 others, waiting for the fourth one, but not be conscious of that fact as he/she doesn't see it.
In my opinion, it is this new search and group function of group finder tool, that is poorly optimized. It is very likely that it continuous to make new groups without checking if they belong together. Meaning, one DD could be put into a "group2", waiting for the rest, while there is already "group1" with one DD, Tank and healer, waiting for a single DD and not getting it because system doesn't check if those two groups could be put together.
According to numerous LFG chat calls and claims that players are simultaneously also running group finder and not getting anything, it seems most likely this, or something similar, is the cause.

Razzak✭✭✭✭✭The best thing for ESO and ZOS' devs would be to implement something similar to GW2's grouping tool. It's very simple and it works beautifully.
Let players start groups by advertising what dungeon, Boss, Dolmen or any other PVE activity they would like to have group for. Than others simply join whichever group they need.0 -

For the first 6 dungeons I have been flagged as tank and had a healer in my party, but still not get the other two spots filled after hours in queue. Yet one quick ask in /zone and there are several damage dealers stating they've been queued for the same for just as long.End the tedious inventory management game.1 -

You and others like you, are a prime example of why it IS broken. I can understand DD players having to wait some time before they get a group. It's like that in every trinity based MMO. But when tank or healer, or especially Tank and healer in a pair, have to wait hours, there is something seriously wrong.

Had ZOS support confirm via ticket response that they are working on the issues with the group finder, but there's yet to be any official confirmation in the public forum, at least that i've seen. Has anyone spotted confirmation? Or any evidence that the very functional console version of the group finder (as seen in beta videos) will be ported to PC?End the tedious inventory management game.0

I don't believe so unless I've missed it. I will speculate that they will wait and see how effective it is for consoles before it's copied to PC.

Every person i see in-game stating the "group finder works but nobody uses" it gets a copy of the ZOS customer service ticket response acknowledging the issue messaged to them. What I just cannot understand is why there isn't a sticky with this information so everyone can be on the same page. If zenimax acknowledged the issue, and posted on the forum about it, then we the players can organize tests to help provide useful feedback.
Instead we're left with lack of public acknowledgement resulting in misinformation between players and arguments.End the tedious inventory management game.2 -

but its efficiency is questionable.
I always queue as a tank. normal difficulty and specific dungeon.
sometimes, i find myself a party,
sometimes i get into a party which is already after the dungeon.
sometimes i get into party with people who already forgot that they are in que and they leave.
and even when i had myself and a healer queued to a party, we couldn't get two DPS for more than an hour.( we got people through /zone spamming)
there is definitely something wrong with the LFG algorithm...

Well since I created this thread there have been lots of players including myself who have received confirmation from Zenimax support that there is indeed a problem with the tool and they are working on it. My concern now is that players refuse to believe this to be the case because Zenimax doesn't publicly knowledge the problem and instead leaves that to the customer service reps who primarily just respond to tickets with canned responses.stojekarcub18_ESO wrote: »It worked great for months. Prior to the level scaling patch (where are dungeons were VR1, VR,5, and VR10 I believe) the group finder worked flawlessly. As a tank I would get into groups within 5 minutes without fail every time.Edited by pecheckler on April 25, 2015 9:20PMEnd the tedious inventory management game.1 -

This is what I said:
"I have already submitted both /bug and /feedback on this issue many many times. Probably at least 20 times. Clearly the issue has not been resolved, and I haven't seen/heard/read any response from ZoS on any platform. Some kind of official update or response would be appreciated."
And this is what ZoS CS said:
"We are looking in to this issue and are working on a fix for this. Please bepaitinet as we work to find a resolution to the issue. I apologize for the inconvenience of waiting to have your issue resolved, but this is to ensure the most complete and satisfying resolution to your issue."
The typo indicates that it's not a cookie cutter response. So to all those people trying to say the LFG tool isn't broken, I'm not sure how much more evidence you need besides various different CS responses acknowledging that it's busted.Edited by Alphashado on April 25, 2015 10:49PM2 -
Koopa✭I've used the group finder twice both times on non vets. The first time I forgot I was in the thing and logged off. The second time I was on a level 23 healer and it did find me a group pretty quickly. The problem with that is I was placed with a level 17 and 32. It could be possible the two were already in a group together, yet they were in two different zones so idk. I was looking for a group to do fg, and I just don't think people with levels 32 23 and 17 should be placed together. Because of this I have not tried the tool for my vet 3.
I know the power difference of a few vet levels is fairly big and I don't really want to get in a group with vet 7s or 10's. I guess I don't know how looking for a vet dungeon is different from not vet ones so I might give it a try.
Overall that level difference tells me it can't be working as it should. Or at least how I think it should.0 -
