Do food and drink buffs stack now, or not?

Unfortunately, I cannot currently participate in PTS testing, so I have to ask those of you who are (-testing).

I remember in the Provisioning Revamp thread it was stated that they intend to have drink buffs stack with food buffs (both active at the same time. In the 1.6 patch notes, however, I don't see this mentioned anymore, just that "drink buffs have been reassessed to make them as viable as food buffs".

Of course I'll find out when 1.6 hits live and it isn't important to know this early (nothing to prepare for), but I'm curious and would appreciate someone clearing this up for me.

No, they don't stack, but they've increased the strength of drinks significantly. They're still situational, though.

I thought that was something going into 1.6 but if not, does anyone even use drinks ? I mean if you can't eat and drink together almost seem like drinks are not even worth having in the game taking up space.

They are not. Someone in another thread ran the actual numbers and drinks are still mostly a waste of ingredients and effort. As noted above there may be some build-specific cases like with a healer where drinks make sense but otherwise you won't find players using them.

ZOS has some crazy reason why they won't change this even though there have been literally dozens of players weigh in on the side of stacking over the last 6 months. They mentioned some vague idea about "balance" but offered no specifics. It would be nice to know why they are being so stubborn.

Too bad. Thanks for the answer though.

I wonder what made them change their mind.

This is another 'promise' ZOS reneged on, like "we'll track XP" before it. They said categorically they would make food and drink stack, then changed their minds without warning.

Master of provisions should have the ability to have food/drink buff at the same time.

Alchemist master decreases the negative effect's of potions...

As a stamina dk tank, I use drinks more than I do food, I actually never use food. I think it helps me in the long run to get more resources back quicker then it is it have higher stats. It has worked for me but it is probably build specific.

I too usually use 'regen' foods in games rather than raw stat boosts, rarely does a couple of hundred or so more health or 'mana' make the difference, whereas getting the magicka/stamina back to be able to stun/interrupt/dodge an attack often can.

Pre 1.6, food was unequivocally, mathematically better than drinks.

I'm not sure about now, but most people are saying they still are.

    Just make them stack, Zenimax.

There is no reason to choose drink over food even for the regen since damage is based on pool size and there are so many other ways to recover resources. They should make them stack, give drinks some other bonus, or just take drinks out of the game.
