Never liked the orcish "boss fight weak spot" boob window, it seemed so silly to have "armor" with an convinient hole to the lungs for any arrow or sword stab...
Well, whether it's silly or not depends on the purpose. If the culture that creates the armour places a very high value on bravery, then a window like that could be a way of displaying your bravery. You're presenting a vulnerable spot and daring your opponents to go after it, with the implication being both that you're not afraid of your enemies, and that you're so confident in your own skills at defending that you're sure you can protect that vulnerable spot.

    It's plausible anyway...

Comparing the old and new pics, I think I might miss the light armor robes (assuming the looks changed for male as well). I liked the layered look of the wraps, the new look is like a slightly customized template of tunic+skirt that other races have.

Really takes away some of the uniqueness.

    Thanks for the upload.

Are you sure you were wearing Redguard heavy armor pants? They look so out of place. They used to be armored legs that matched the chest, now they're completely random leather strapped pants.

If this is indeed the full set...why, Zenimax? Making my character look cool was the only thing left in this game. Why would you change the male armor? What was wrong with it?

I prefer the old armor in any ways. I am not a big fan of changing existing (and crafted/refined) armor at all!

As a secondary choice I say: Fine, go with it. But as a replacement this is a no go for me.

Lol people want the boob window? That's realistic.

    A-Google boobs.
    B-Get a girlfriend.

Eso is not going to have slutty armor. (yet)
or at least i hope it is kept to a minimum...

This may come as a shock to you but some women liked the window.

There are quite a few women out there that like sexy looking armour.

ok guys i added male version to the start of the thread enjoy :)
    Thank you.

Is the art department so bored already that they have to make changes to armours - many of which were actually players favourite armour looks - in game? The original redguard armour, especially the light, was almost a perfect fit for desert lifestyle. It's look made sense. The new look? Not at all.

Why on earth did they not spend their time on making these a new armour set, rather than changing what was already in the game? It really makes little sense to me. The Orc and Redguard armour - in my opinion - was in need of one or two minion changes, that's all.

I think it would have been prefered if they added these new armour sets to the game as two new mofits. Variety is the spice of life after all. Why development chose just to replace our options when they had the ability to increase them, is completely beyond me.

    I agree.

Do they have any excuse at all to change the male versions?

@ZOS_GinaBruno‌ , I understand now is a busy time, but could you please explain why the male sets had to change? I understand this push towards less "skimpy" armors, but there was nothing wrong with the male versions.

    The patch notes say:
Improved and polished the look of all Redguard and Orc armor sets.

In what way is removing plate armor legs from from the plate set improving them? Isn't this exactly what you just "fixed" with the female armors: plate armor not covering vital areas? I can assure you the entire pants area is extremely vital for several reasons.

Yes, @ZOS_GinaBruno that would be good to know.

Hopefully, they could quite simply add them as new mofits. Call them 'Iron Orc' and 'Forebear' racial styles, or something similar: there are a lot of name options.

And I suppose in a way that's my point. ZOS development, whenever possible I think really should embrace the opportunity to give us more options in the game. This is one of those times, where if they did everyone would be happy, because nothing is being taken away, or changed, just something new added.

I don't think the case should be about "plate armor should be one way or another", and rather "there were players who appreciated and enjoyed the previous looks so why not have both?"

As big a fan as I am of these changes (might actually wear redguard armor for a change) I do wish they would have provided these as alternate styles to keep making achievable motif grinds for the clothes hounds. I suspect though secondary stylings would either require new racial stones and/or revamping the crafting UI.

The aspect that they've added which I like is that these armors have some bulk to them (at least in the heavy armors) and I think many could benefit from having a few more polys. So many of the styles look like you're just wearing well done body paint with a few sticky up bits. This is easily noticed when you look at the primal and barbarian armors/clothing where furs and rips are only "painted" on. I never noticed how much this bothered me until I started playing some other games and really enjoyed the bulk that made stuff feel like it was actually there.

We should stick to original TES lore and bring out a cloth armour outfit like the blonde on front of the arena box. Given the way ESO works right now she would probably be the tank as the less armour the better for tanking :)

So can we petition for that original arena thong bikini outfit to go on the crown store?

Heh, I think posted once before that I would enjoy see more varietee with armor crafting styles. Like the cloth chestpiece robe/jerkin option...

Like... say... a winter version and a summer version of each chestpiece? Maybe no boob window (that one really is annoying since the chest and the vital organs in it is the one thing armor was first invented to protect), but... one with fur linings, the other sleeveless for hotter climates? So you don't have to mix styles for the effect? Perhaps even similar for the leg pieces, heavy cloth pants for winter style, and more open greco-roman style armor-plate-over-skin for summer?

And while we're at it... headpieces... I would love to see more options then hood/helmet there, especially for light armor. Circlet/crown style? Caps/hats? Medium armor I could see facemask style instead of helmet... even heavy armor could have options for open and closed visor...

As for bikini outfits... well... give it time. I am sure sooner or later, in a crown store near you... ;)

Boob armor is a horrible idea. The shape of boobs on armor would cause a weapon struck in the chest to deflect inwards instead of outwards, causing the the weapon in question to penetrate the armor and spear said individual through the sternum.

Thus, remember ladies, boob armor = certain death for anyone wearing it.

    *laughs* I know!

I've submitted a couple of in-game suggestions over the months regarding Redguard Armour as well; namely the obvious light armour epaulet issue. Others I know have done similarly in regards to the lack of certain elements unable to be dyed.

What I haven't seen, read or heard anywhere though is anyone asking for the complete overhaul we've been given. It's just plain confusing. Why?

why does a little cleavage terrify you people so much? game gives us amazing character creator body paints tattoos etc only we'll never see a single curve again because we have to be armed to our small intestine in plate mail. its a fantasy game in a fantasy world give us some cleavage and skimp to work with. doesnt break immersion at all.. for peets sake races can cross breed without making mixed offspring, vampires walk in daylight, lizards a co-dependent on a tree, theres a realm with cold fire, and a god of bat**** craziness and cheese. head shots dont kill in this game. so why ruin visuals for everyone because you wanna pin real life on a fantasy game where 99% of the armors wouldnt work in real life due to bulk plating locations and insane shoulders. our shield float and our swords magnetize to our hips. let it go people i want my metal thong bikini lol

Kinda sad about Redguard medium armor. I liked the little red jewels and the overall style of it. The new design looks really similar to Bosmer.
