Well, whether it's silly or not depends on the purpose. If the culture that creates the armour places a very high value on bravery, then a window like that could be a way of displaying your bravery. You're presenting a vulnerable spot and daring your opponents to go after it, with the implication being both that you're not afraid of your enemies, and that you're so confident in your own skills at defending that you're sure you can protect that vulnerable spot.TheShadowScout wrote: »Never liked the orcish "boss fight weak spot" boob window, it seemed so silly to have "armor" with an convinient hole to the lungs for any arrow or sword stab...

Are you sure you were wearing Redguard heavy armor pants? They look so out of place. They used to be armored legs that matched the chest, now they're completely random leather strapped pants.
If this is indeed the full set...why, Zenimax? Making my character look cool was the only thing left in this game. Why would you change the male armor? What was wrong with it?

Is the art department so bored already that they have to make changes to armours - many of which were actually players favourite armour looks - in game? The original redguard armour, especially the light, was almost a perfect fit for desert lifestyle. It's look made sense. The new look? Not at all.
Why on earth did they not spend their time on making these a new armour set, rather than changing what was already in the game? It really makes little sense to me. The Orc and Redguard armour - in my opinion - was in need of one or two minion changes, that's all.
I think it would have been prefered if they added these new armour sets to the game as two new mofits. Variety is the spice of life after all. Why development chose just to replace our options when they had the ability to increase them, is completely beyond me.
Improved and polished the look of all Redguard and Orc armor sets.

Do they have any excuse at all to change the male versions?
@ZOS_GinaBruno , I understand now is a busy time, but could you please explain why the male sets had to change? I understand this push towards less "skimpy" armors, but there was nothing wrong with the male versions.

The patch notes say:Improved and polished the look of all Redguard and Orc armor sets.
In what way is removing plate armor legs from from the plate set improving them? Isn't this exactly what you just "fixed" with the female armors: plate armor not covering vital areas? I can assure you the entire pants area is extremely vital for several reasons.
As big a fan as I am of these changes (might actually wear redguard armor for a change) I do wish they would have provided these as alternate styles to keep making achievable motif grinds for the clothes hounds. I suspect though secondary stylings would either require new racial stones and/or revamping the crafting UI.
The aspect that they've added which I like is that these armors have some bulk to them (at least in the heavy armors) and I think many could benefit from having a few more polys. So many of the styles look like you're just wearing well done body paint with a few sticky up bits. This is easily noticed when you look at the primal and barbarian armors/clothing where furs and rips are only "painted" on. I never noticed how much this bothered me until I started playing some other games and really enjoyed the bulk that made stuff feel like it was actually there.
