Dealing with exploiters.

(EDIT: I've been told it isn't an exploit, so don't mind telling me again, I've got it into my skull! =P )

Greetings everyone.

I myself, as many others are sick and tired of exploiters in Cyrodiil which quite literally ruins the experience for so many people on a daily basis. Which is why my dear friend and I have resorted to exploit whenever an exploiter approaches.

So now I wish to tell you a tale, a story of how to deal with filthy exploiters in Cyrodiil who just tapes their right mouse buttom down on their mouses.

It all started out with quiet questing in Bruma on the Thornblade. My friend and I were minding our own business, hiding from the majority of DC coming our way as we just wanted to complete our quests and get going. However, everything were not going to remain so easy. On the last few quests, we had this extremely stubborn Dragon Knight tank show up, which sole purpose (By the looks of it) were to ruin our day.

Luckily for us, my friend and I aren't bad at PvP, and both well decked out in epic to legendary gear. However, even as good DPS, those block-talon-lavawhip-Dragonblood spamming Dragon Knights are literally impossible to kill without proper stunlocks or negates. And after nearly being killed, and unable to damage the dude beyond 80% before he pops dragonblood and gets right back up to 100% again, we resorted to what we ourselves sees as a disgrace.

I popped Shadowy Disguise, ran behind him and threw him up into the air, draining his body from his precious vitae. While my friend smashed him three times, killing him before the stun duration was done, and he was unable to hold block 24/7.

That continued for a total of 5 times, since he kept coming back for revenge.

After the fifth attack by the dude, my friend and I decided to say screw it, and just leave it at that. Which resulted in us spending the rest of our evening for something more enjoyable than exploitive PvP. So we decided to ride back towards our Ebonheart gates. That is when it started getting more pleasent however, because it is only now we have realized how many goodies Cyrodiil actually holds beyond PvP and fire trains!

First we ran into a fun little group of women, who had caught their boyfriend having an affair with all of them. I won't name them, nor tell what happens since it should really be discovered by yourself. But it is between the Pact and Covernant areas. It was a fun little story about drama and betrayal, where we as players have a chance to redeem someone, or simply spectate.

Having a fun little blast for a ten minutes time, we decided to continue on our way home. As we rode closer to a small lake we wanted to pass, we saw a shady black dressed NPC which wasn't hostile near a boat with lot of goods. So as the curious Roleplayers we are, we went further and interacted with the NPC, and as we suspected, this character was indeed shady! Which lead to a nice choice of action, once again where we could choose between acting in and help the innocent, or turn a blind eye to the situation and move on with our own daily lives.

Right after having dealt with the shady character, we found his notes and was about to venture towards the location we were given. (Yes, it even turned into a quest, even though there were no indication of such before having dealt with the shady guy!)

Only hundred yards away from the shady characters location, we saw something else interesting, which was a nice little party held by what looks like a mixed-bag-of-races. All the people were cheerful, and while they seemed to be under the influence of a certain Daedric Prince, the bunch was an enjoyable few to talk, dance and drink with. Then we noticed an Argonian standing with a big bottle of liquid, so we naturally walked close and interact with him. He offered us a taste, and before we knew it both our characters are completely wasted and wakes up somewhere in the woods upon one another!

While we checked our gear and coin pouches immediately to ensure those party people weren't sneaky thieves, luckily we had nothing stolen, so we can only assume our characters had a hell of a time with dancing, food and booze!

After that we decided to call it the night and head off Tamriel to our real lives, after all, we mortal men and women require sleep every once in a while.

Point of this story is, look beyond our pityful disagreement between factions and constant hostility on forums like this, and instead lets try to enjoy ourselves with our time in Cyrodiil, which just might hold much more to it than you might imagen at first glance. It's truely a place worth of exploring.

TL;DR

Stop exploiting and have a more enjoyable time in Cyrodiil, with PvP or not, as there are many hidden secrets around Cyrodiil. Which might surprise you very positively, as it did to us. We've been playing since the launch of the game, and are still getting amazed by the hidden content which is small, but awesome story segments and activities for our characters to partake in.

You tried to PvE (questing...) in a PvP zone and got attacked by someone using class abilities and block to fight you, but you won. You stayed at that spot for the enemy to come back 5 times, won again in a 2v1 - and now come to the forum to complain.

People using geometry exploits to hide inside of stones - that is an exploit.

I'm afraid I believe you've misunderstood the point of the post. But to clear something up at first, we didn't just sit and hide for five kills, we were trying to clear our quests while avoiding attetion. But sadly, moving through doors and interacting with quest NPC's makes you visible to everyone, so preventing such isn't quite practically possible.

I just wish we all could have good moments and fun PvP, without having to resort to exploits. If you don't consider block holding while being fully capable of everything in combat ability wise plus through stuns an exploit, then neither is my stealth and vampire bite combo. It's not much of a complain though, just a mere tale and a wish for us all to simply enjoy our time instead of having to resort to means which is considered exploits by many in the community.
    You realize you're EP right

Indeed I do, at least I started in Stonefalls, and on my login screen I have a visually appealing dragon logo acompanying my character.

My apologies if the topic name was misleading, it wasn't the intent, simply to tell a small tale.

I found your story to be of an entertaining reading. Some locations you described I found familiar and some not. Yet I have played since the beginning of the launch in Cyro. What comes to flaming/ qq in the forums, I agree that we should have some positive things to say about pvp.

Anyways, enjoy your trips. There is no funnier thing than to explore and adventure. Sometimes a dead enemy here and there just cheers up my mood.

If your point was to tell a small tale - the thread had a misleading title ;)

The danger of being attacked while questing in Cyrodiil is what is the whole points of having quests in a PvP area.

There is a big difference between anim-canceling and holding block during a fight and use instant-abilities. While I would say the first is an exploit, the second is integral part of the game mechanic and can be overcome by wearing out the others stamina. That might take a while, I had 1v1 which lasted over 10 minutes until one of us (usually me ;) ) was defeated due to errors that added up and in the end killed me.
Those long battles are more fun than ride-up-insta-pew-pew-2s-win - at least to me.

Whenever it's an exploit or just a really awful system is not something for me to say, I merely called it an exploit because that is what I've heard others claim it to be, and when much of the zone chat says it, then I jump on the bandwagon and do the same.

While it could be completely intended, it puts DK's and Templars in such a high advantage over everyone else that it's quite literally unfair. I have yet to be able to defeat one without using either invisibility+vampire feeding or Lethal arrow spam.

But at still, the post is not much about whenever it's an exploit or not, it's more about us as a community having fun and an enjoyable time instead of resorting to what a FPS shooter would call "Cheap Tactics", and as I can see from the many rage posts about said combination of abilities, then many see them as exploits, or otherwise cheap I-Win-Button-Presses.

    That it surely does!

But besides that, I do not complain about being attacked in Cyrodiil the slightest, hell for some (Including me at times!) makes it much more fun to have that danger of a player jumping out to attempt slaughter you right there.

Though, while it might be fun for you to have such a long 10 minutes battle, those who go for other builds than the cookie cutter Dragon Knight / Templar invicible tank are not often saying the same, espically those who're unable to build said combinations due to their class choices.

Everything you just described is just the gameplay for better or for worse. I'm a vampire Nightblade relying on burst damage and I still love a long fight. If this game were just straight 1 to 1 counters there wouldn't be much call to use different classes. Using chains to pull frenemies onto keep walls is an exploit, the dragon leap onto/over walls is an exploit. Using the DK abilities for their intended role? Just the game. Just seems like a misleading title to get people to give your story a read so grats on the clickbait, you got me.

That's not exploiting, just using the game mechanics in a way you and some others have not deemed fair.
Exploiting is taking advantage of broken mechanics in a ridiculous way, like the old Vampire speed bug, the 6k damage caltrops etc.

Using strong skills which are flavour of the month or mechanics which are working the way ZOS have intended them to isn't exploiting just using everything to your advantage.

Sadly I see this a lot (and I am not accusing you of this) where players invent their own rules, such as "using lethal arrow stacking debuff is unfair" and then run around and scream exploit.
I want the community to know the difference if possible so when we do have exploits like a few months back where Emperors were throwing 6k damage caltrops it's more clear to ZOS it's an exploit and not another person unhappy with a strong build or good player.

That DKs build is not exploiting... its just a boring and typical build that works only because of the block and cast system. its annoying, but not an epxloit.

Sounds like you two still got him/her though:)

The magic "exploiting" dragonknight popped green dragon blood at 80% to take him back to 100%?

    umhmm

Maybe you guys aren't as good as you think, practice more, there are nightblades out there that dominate most DKs like this.

ps. there's no exploiting in this "Dealing with exploiters" thread.
