I love it when I run into an argonian with an argonion name, instead of dovahsomething. The same goes for other races. Sweetrolls and cheese for everyone!

I understand where your coming from and always try to make names that have meaning and are racially fitting. Often my characters actually use the name as a generic title, for instance my Imperial Dragon Knight is called "An Imperial Legionary", my Scorcerer Enchanter is called "An Imperial Mystic". And of course these characters always wear the complete outift of Imperial armor, in the official Imperial colors of red, silver, and gold.

Then there is my evil character that always takes the bad option during quest choices, he is called "An Evil Villain".

Naming my characters (especially the Elven ones in LotRO) sometimes takes me longer than designing what they look like.

When I see the character names of other players who have obviously attempted to fit the lore and the world they are playing in it almost always makes me smile... some of the other ones though. No sweetrolls for them! ;)

I suffer from an extreme lack of imagination so when making a character I use the race names lore pages on UESP for inspiration.

I've on occasion received positive comments from other players in-game about having lore-correct names, which is nice :)

Argonian names are not Argonian names, they are Imperial versions of Argonian names.

I'm surprised it wasn't taken. :D Anyway, still better than a Dunmer named Drizzt Do'Urden.

All my characters have lore-friendly names. I'd like a name change service because I'm terribly uncreative and I came up with an fitting name for my Argonian long after creating her, but oh well. Her current name is okay too.

My argonian is named Hun-Tra, comes from Hunts-And-Trades. He was actually one of my first Morrowind characters so the name kind of stuck, so I use that name in lots of other games too. But especially in ESO it fits perfectly, I think.

Saw a lot of that in the Pact on the NA server and am seeing it in the Pact on the EU server too. Names, clothes, and not running everywhere.

We've already had long threads regarding what could really help RP in this game but I think it's off to a good start.

Glides-Under-Starlight, Hrrska-Set, and Whispers-As-Thunder enjoyed the sweetrolls. Although, as Saxhleel, they prefer the kind with chunks of frog baked in.

They should have an auto generated list of lore friendly unused names for you.
Yes you should be obviously be able to use other names also re-roll or modify the selected name.
It would make it easier to get an good name.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

I use actual Breton names for my Breton characters, Romanesque names for my Imperials and Middle Eastern names for my Red Guards. Thanks to the beauty of the internet, research on these things is not at all difficult.

However I do maintain that we should never force lore appropriate names on people. Why? Because if your name is Surprize Buttsecz I know to avoid you like the revolting plague you are. Thank you for carrying an "I'm stupid" sign so I never accidentally waste my time attempting to interact with you in any way.

Not enforce, just make it easier to select for people who don't know.
Bank alts tend to have stupid names.

Happy with the names of all my girls (and one boy). They all have a good reason for that name.

Wenxue (Redguard) (my ES character since Daggerfall)
Azizom (Breton) (Farsi word for dearest - relevant to a song I like)
Rosiebelle (Orc) (named after one of my LOTRO characters)
Hodorf (Nord - Male - named after one of my LOTRO characters)
Luckee (Khajiit) (intended to be a thief eventually)
Skybright (Khajiit) (character from my favourite book)
Nommie (Bosmer) (wanted Bitey but it was taken)

Although except for perhaps Hodorf, noen of those names are really in line With TES lore, which was what the OP had in mind, I think

Hodorf is actually a combination of Hodor and Dorf - because the LOTRO character was a Dwarf that only ever said Hodorf :) I think he is probably the most lore breaking one of that lot!

I think as long as you can explain the reasoning behind your name then I am pretty cool with most things. Even the daft ones give me a laugh now and again. I have probably seen far too many Khaleesi variations in my travels ....

    Bretons make good slaves ;)

Seriously, in a multiple server game like Lord of the Rings Online having forced RP servers made perfect sense. In a game like this, however, I make peace using selective vision.

Fact is most people don't give a rodent's backside about deep immersion in digital worlds. The novelty has worn off for most, the audience is MUCH broader, and many gamers would dress as walking turds if that happened to be the most powerful gear of the moment.

It makes that splendid moments where you feel the connection with other players and get that uncanny sense of actually being in another world all the more memorable for me.
