Argonian names are not Argonian names, they are Imperial versions of Argonian names.
Sometimes they're actually in Saxhleel.

I made my imperial Templar with just a first name.
I often find myself in this very situation.Naming my characters (especially the Elven ones in LotRO) sometimes takes me longer than designing what they look like.
When I see the character names of other players who have obviously attempted to fit the lore and the world they are playing in it almost always makes me smile... some of the other ones though. No sweetrolls for them!
I can very much agree with all of this.Yh I miss all that from when I played on PC.
I do very much miss not having my character name visable and other players, instead of our console ID : (
And mainly I really want a chat box on console, it was great for RP. Nearly every weekend RP's gathered in taverns across Tamriel, and all the stories and speech bubbles made it so immersive and fun. I miss that so much on the console.
I dont get ZOS's decisions on these but I hope they make these changes.

From what I've read it partly depends on the race, since some races are more or less likely to use surnames or family names. This site is quite useful as a guide.
I doubt anybody would give you a hard time if your character decided to go by only one name though.
