My knee-jerk reaction is to say "no, re-roll.". And I did say that earlier.

I think people asking for a "one-time change" is kind of interesting. Whatever rationalization you can come up with wanting to change once can be used for wanting to change twice, thrice, or any number of times.

That being said... Having a deserter or traitor option would be interesting option for ESO... being that there is a faction war. Players could be given additional awards for killing players that deserted their faction. I always liked Diablo's "ear" trophy... that would be cool to be able to collect the ears of traitors as trophies.

I think there's a larger idea here that could add another level of depth to the faction war...

true but ive got 5 characters on EP and 1 on AD and 3 EP limited guilds. two are for PvP. i wouldnt forsake a friend ship so i can flip flop about. i just want my AD sorc on EP. Its very limiting having a crafter on a different alliance.
Hmm, I can totally understand that. Except for the last sentence anyway... Why would having a crafter in a different alliance be limiting? If it's a character you want to play with your EP guildies I can totally understand, but if that character is really just a crafter, why does it make any difference what alliance he's in?

No need to limit how many times a character can do it.
Yes there is, for the many good reasons people are raising.

An MMO playerbase will always exploit any opportunity to gain some advantage and in doing so don't care of the effects it has on others or the game as a whole. Allowing unrestricted, un-limit-rated changing of faction would lead to many major distortions.

All games I know that allow race/faction/class changes (other than those where class changes are clearly part of the game's design) have some sort of of regulation of frequency or number of times .. they all have very good reasons for doing so.

You guys fail to realize that if faction change is allowed you'll eventually end up with empty alliances. And eventually with everybody in the same alliance.

By what logic on earth did you come up with that reasoning?

I'd like to educate some others of you who are against faction change "just because *we need to learn to live with our mistakes*" ... it's not about that. I haven't made a flippin' mistake. I want the *freedom* to change factions if I so wish for moral or philosophical reasons.

We all interact with the story to different degrees, and some of us do so in depth. It's quite understandable that faction change might factor into the living story of a character .. some people call it treason, some people call it heroic and others pragmatic .. it entirely depends on the character.

    Why can't it work?

Because he doesn't want it. You want something he doesn't want, so he doesn't want you to have it.
I explained clearly why it can't work. I apologize if you're too dense to understand. As for me not wanting him to have it, I personally couldn't care less; it makes no difference to me whatsoever.

We can already play in the other factions once we've finished our home faction. The game effectively "resets" and treats your character as new each time you start Caldwell's Silver/Gold.

You simply have no idea what you're talking about.
    Invictus
Kilandros - Dragonknight / Grand Overlord
Deimos - Templar / Grand Warlord
    Sias - Sorcerer / Prefect
Short answer is DKs likely won't be seeing a ton of changes before we go live; this class is still quite powerful (as it should be being a tank), even after some of the adjustments we've made to other classes and abilities.

DK IS NOT JUST A TANK CLASS. #PLAYTHEWAYYOUWANT

ZeniMax, will you please let us have the ability to move to a different faction? The game has been out for long enough now that people, myself included, have characters pretty much stranded in a faction where their friends have left and no longer play, and now such people, myself included, play a different character in a different faction. I like my nightblade, I want to play him, but he's stuck all by himself in AD when I now play DC. Sure I can chat in my guilds, but I can't do group content with my friends. Ever. He's level 42, I don't want to delete and make a new nightblade in DC to level up again so I can play him with friends.

I know faction change has implications for pvp. So, make it €40, restrict it to a certain number of times per account, make it so someone in an active campaign can't do it, or put it on a long cooldown. I really don't care. But I think it's something we should have at this point.

I was talking about this months ago, people will want to have one last seperate faction above these 3 already egsisting!

Agreed. I bet 10,000 crowns would do it.

No thats too much..let it be 500 crowns and 1 month panelty / restriction for another change so ppl won't exploit! or double the cost for another change of the same character.

You guys are out of your minds if you think it should cost 10K Crowns. That's the equivalent of $100 to Faction change. So far we don't know the exact cost of Crowns but ESO Plus members get 1500/mo for $14.99. Taking that into account that would make 10K Crowns worth $99.90, that's stupid high for anything to be in a cash shop. More likely a Faction/Race change would cost 1-2K Crowns.

I have no issue with there being a cool down before you can do it again, but there is literally no way to exploit the game by changing your Faction/Race "too often".

I think it could work, especially after they get rid of Vet ranks. There will be no point to doing silver or gold. They have not made any comments yet as to how silver and gold will work after lvl 50 is max level, they may even remove it from the game. So switching factions would then work with no problems. Also they could work it where it just resets all of your completed quests and transfers your achievements to the new faction like they do in WoW when you do a faction change. I would also love to see them add in racial changes because of the new champion system and how that will change some of the racial passives.

I do agree tho that simply just making a new character will be a viable option once they get rid of Veteran Ranks. With them still in the game it does make it difficult for some of us with a V14. I started playing on the EP side and now have switched to the AD side to be able to play along with my guild. However I have a V14 and a V12 on the EP side that I no longer use because I have no one to play with on that side. My V14 is also my crafter so if I delete him just to reroll him on the AD side I lose months of crafting research, where as if I could just transfer him to AD side I won't have to spend Months playing the game to get to where I was with him.

It takes about 2 days game time, one week real life time to get from 1-50, which isn't bad, but getting from V1 to V14 can take weeks with the current system they have in place.

It can work just fine, as MANY other MMO's have proven. WoW has had this option for what, 10 years? And they have specific Faction only things that get changed to the equivalent on the opposing Faction, no different here. Also this response via Jessica Folsom on Reddit today: "Race change, name change, alliance change, appearance change are all commonly seen in posts. These services are all being looked into. No promises on any, but we hear you!"
