[Fixed] Invalid Version Error: Patch 1.5.3 was accidentally released to clients only.

I know captain obvious, but if we keep saying maybe someone there will actually get the idea of fixing the problem.

Thanks to for the direct launch tip, can play on laptop, but cr@p graphics, had the patch forced on me when I opened launcher, on my tower PC. put in ticket @ 10:45 am BST. Think I'm just on crafting and mail reading.

I'm no longer being offered an update, so they appear to have removed it from the patch server but presumably haven't yet put in place a way to reinstate the existing version for those who ran the update earlier. Doubtless that will be resolved shortly.

U better not ask us to re-download the game to be able to play again after your mishap ! And if you do, you better compensate the players by providing free game time !! The last time my game stopped working after a patch, i had to spend 4 days to download the game again and your support team was not even considerate enough to compensate for my lost game time !!!

Share other people's files by downloading them from third party sites at your own risk folks, but it's really not worth the risk of messing up your game installation (if you're lucky) or your whole computer (if you're unlucky) with such things. Far better to find something else to do in your life for an hour or two and let the launcher install the necessary file corrections when a fix has been applied.

Yes that is one option, the problem is that the patch is probably not ready as its not scheduled before Monday in the US.
Messing up an server patch is far more serious than messing up an client, its very hard to fix.

Considering the file is coming from one source only currently and the amount of people reporting it works i doubt any sort of virus is involved, and if you back up your game files before applying the fix there is no risk unless you make a mistake in which case it is your own fault. I have found the game files to be very pliable when it comes to copying and pasting to fix various *** ups Zos have created.

Some people have been waiting for 6 hours not an hour or two it should have been fixed by now. Zos just don't care.

Yeah, I get that, but when I said that they had been looking at it for about two hours, and there was noone saying they knew what the issue was.

Like I said, it's done at people's own risk - both now and in the future when they start complaining about the game crashing and don't think to relate it to having mixed file installations from unofficial sources. Check the Dev Tracker, it simply isn't something that ZOS recommend.

If you think a developer who is operating a game as a business doesn't care about the game not running as much as a poster who is playing it as a hobby then I can only say that you're very wrong! They simply have to take their time resolving the problem in order to make sure that they don't fix one thing and break something else, especially with most players not actually having any need for the fix anyway because they either play on a different server or else didn't install this morning's update. Add in the fact that this all happened in the early hours of Sunday morning their time and it isn't too hard to see why it is taking some time to resolve.

The people fixing this have doubtless been called in from their beds at home, and I for one prefer to thank them for their efforts rather than criticise them for the time they took!

Yeah, the thing is with these home-made fixes, if it all goes pear shaped, then they can still rely on ZOS to be creating a Fix, so they can take all sorts of risks.

ZOS can't do that, they have to be careful about fixing this, admittedly if they had been careful about not releasing a patch..

Back up the old files, download new files, search for viruses, install... I've been doing this since I was 12...

Anyway I believe people will be compensated, as I was several times, so the "Paying for nothing" argument is invalid.
