Mined was a snails pace; quite surprising as I have a high speed connection. I won't be able to play until tonight as it took so many hours to download and patch. ZoS can we get a day credit to our accounts?

    Hey there folks,

We certainly understand that it can be frustrating when the download is moving slower than usual. If the download and installation process is running slow, there are several temporary solutions:

First, players should try temporarily disabling the firewall and anti-virus. Default Windows firewalls will come on automatically after others are disabled, so keep in mind that the Windows firewall may need to be disabled, too. Always remember to turn them on again after the download completes.

Players can also try opening the following ports on their router:
    •TCP / UDP Ports 24100 through 24131
    •TCP / UDP Ports 24300 through 24331
    •TCP / UDP Ports 24500 through 24507

If that doesn't work, they can try bypassing the router and plugging the computer in directly to the internet source to improve download speeds.

Download speeds are also related to internet connection speed, which can act as a limiting factor. We understand that many people have posted their internet speeds in this topic, but wanted to address it just in case. If the overall connection speed seems slow, players can verify it through a third party source like SpeedTest. This site, and many others, will calculate internet connection speed (higher numbers are better). If it turns out that the overall internet connection speed is slow, we recommend the players to contact their Internet Service Provider and have them troubleshoot the connection with them.

Last but not least, they can change the Maximum Download Speed of the launcher. Click on the gear icon in the top right-hand corner to open up the Launcher Settings, scroll down to the bottom of the menu, and look for the section titled Maximum Download Speed. Click on the drop-down menu and select 5BMps.

This should help speed things up!

It took me 10+hrs on my horrible connection, but then a funny thing happened... I restarted the launcher when it finally finished then applied the patch but upon restarting the launcher it started to download the patch again... after it just said "PLAY" so I then followed the instructions in the help section and hit repair... well after it verified/checked the download it started to download the entire game again... all of the happened 12hrs ago after I waited nearly 11hrs for the patch to finish and now I'm at 27% with 18G to go....so I won't be playing for days now... how can this happen? seriously? The launcher cannot tell it just downloaded the patch and applied it? And now it cannot tell I have the entire game downloaded? lmao wth?@!!!!

Hi @ZOS_GaryA‌ . With all due respect, does ZOS have the server and network bandwidth to be able to serve up 13GB of update material to all of the clients out there over such a short time frame? It took me 7 hours to download NA and just under an hour to download EU under pretty much the same conditions (locally) each time. The latter is much more normal.

While I know you will consider my ISP and my local network, I just want to point out that one other source of slowdown is the Zenimax servers and the ISP there.

Also, I was wondering if "5 MB/s" was faster than "Unlimited"? I had mine set to "Unlimited" for both the NA and EU downloads. Also, if "5 MB/s" is faster, will setting it to "10 MB/s" be even better?

Downloaded full patch in 4 hours and that patch broke my game, so Installing whole game again. Everything was fine till 2% and after 2% my download speed drop between 30Kb/s to 80Kb/s... I am having 8 Mbps stable line. Other apps and download working fine except ESO. This problem exist from beta and never addressed by ZOS.

Wow now its drop to 10Kb/s

Patch took me overall about 13hrs to download. 1st portion was downloading at 30-60kb/s max, after the first 5gbs downloaded the speed picked up and the download went much faster, anywhere from 1-28mb/s. whatever was causing it was obviously in the first portion of the download, if that helps narrow it down...i know this because I wasted my whole day yesterday watching the damn thing like a hawk to pinpoint the problem. Then as soon as I could finally log in... at least 5-6 infinite load screens. i actually managed to log in once, just to crash 2 minutes in. I thought they took the NA server down a second time yesterday to fix that very problem. I stopped playing after update 4 for a while because it completely broke the game on my older mac. Went out and bought a brand new top of the line gaming laptop, started playing again. The game was working almost flawlessly by then, until this update, now it's broken again....smh

my standard speed is 20 mb/s. if what you're saying is true then why are smaller packages able to use my full bandwith and only really large packages only reach a max of 1.6? seems to me that if it all comes from the same server and over the same lines you should be able to have a constant bandwith/ speed.
my settings are set to use max bandwith btw. (2,5 hours and counting...)

No matter how fast the servers are, I would really appreciate alternative ways to download the patch. I think best would be some torrent system with the option to download patch installer executables.
We have two PC here, both running ESO. And thus have to load the patch twice via the launcher instead of once with some installer files (which would cut the required time and traffic in half)

If you are protected by a hardware firewall, like a cable modem or DSL router, then turning off the software firewall on your computer may speed things up without incurring the wrath of hackers. Just remember to turn it back on.

I don't know how much of a speed improvement you will see if you turn off your software firewall. Since I can download things through my web browser, Steam, and the Blizzard launcher 10x faster than ESO downloads, if the software firewall is an issue it is because of Zenimax. Personally, I think they just have a slow download site, one that is easily overloaded, or they have a poor load manager.

Rift is a F2P game and you can play the game whilst downloading the updates.
Why is that not possible in this game. ESO is younger and has a vastly larger budget so by default should be using newer more streamlined software??

    Hi Guys,

Bought some weeks ago a copy account from PC to PS4.
I have a PS4 connected in Ethernet to a Fiber box (router linked to Internet with fiber). I am downloading GTA V updates in minutes and I try downloading the ESOLTU (33GO), when it started, it tells me 90 hours downloading !!!
I have started downloading it since the official launch and still have 23 hours to go.
I do not know if someone finds this normal, but not me. A full week just to download the game with PS4, this is unacceptable. Especially for clients that had already bought the PC version (the imperial one even) a long time ago.
Not happy at all for the moment. And do not tell me that comes from my Internet connection, it downloaded at the same time the update for ESOLTU and an update for GTA 5, some megas each
