You nerfed the NB into Oblivion.....

With the nerf of the restoration staff, you entirely cracked the NB. It is because the NB not only loosing 10% (roughly 7% effectively) damage, it is loosing 10% selfheal too. So lets summarize this class:

The class is completly useless now!

I did not stated it is all about the resto staff, but nerfing the resto staff hit NBs hard and there is no compensation.

I bet the devs didnt even thought about this.

That hit everyone hard. NB has really other problems we should get buffs of passivs and classtalents that is what sucks atm.

Not everyone playing a NB is so 1337 to do 1,4k (single target) dps (before the nerf and 1,2k dps after). And if you are one of those 1337 players, you may explain to everyone else how to do so. Just bring some arguments instead of trolling.

NB is NOT "really" fine! We still need some buffs and fixes BUT that staff sh.... has nothing to do with that.

NB as Class is fine but we need a buff to compare!

    That is the problem

Lolz! Magica build NB is the mose OP thing in game atm, doing 1,3k-1,4k ranged dps with pressing just 3 buttons, insane ultimate regeneration speed and infiniti resource management - common, open your eyes, i'm just an improvement wich brings NB to more balance! Pretty much this. NB got a hit, but its still fine. By switching to destro staff and exchanging funnel health with crushing shock (weapon damage jewelry) i almost achieved the same dps as before.

Add in Haste and Mark Target and you are fine still ;)

Every class that relied on blocking with the resto staff whilst hiding behind it spamming one instant-cast skill got hit a little by this. Oh.. only NB's did that. Funnel health, funnel health, funnel health, funnel health, funnel health , funnel health, funnel health...

Might need to find a new button. (I play a NB by the way. I just found that build so very, very boring). DPS is affected by your latency far more than this 7% nerf anyway.

    Easy.
Start of the fight->Combat Prayer->Spell Symmetry->Caltrops (gets stronger from previous two)
    Rotation: Cripple->Funnel Health (make sure to animation cancel)->Funnel Health->Funnel Health->Funnel Health->Spell Symmetry->Cripple->etc

Apply Veil on cooldown & use potions.

    You're welcome.

P.S. As Nightblade I'm fine with this "nerf". Also, destruction staff has some excellent passives as well, so the difference shouldn't be that high.

^this. I have no doubt I will keep a consistent high DPS after the nerf. It might even be interesting to swap resto for a destro staff, if I'm not wrong the light attack does more damage on that? Could make the nerf even smaller. Since the 10% cycle of life dmg was the only reason I ever had resto for PvE.

I believe so, also the "burning" from Fire Staff adds quite a bit to DPS (I wish they'd balance the other elements too... else everyone will be wearing Fire Staff lol). I'd anticipate the DPS loss being more like 2-3% after the "nerf", but it'll have to be tested.

I also wish they'd increase stamina builds' viability, but at the moment if you want to hit 1.3k DPS as NB you pretty much have to use the setup above.

Although in theory you might be able to achieve the same as stamina also, using Caltrops, Venom Arrow, Scorched Earth & Acid Spray as bow user (requires testing).

For DW, Incapacitate (increasing attack speed & heavy attack dmg), Blood Craze, Flurry (any of the morphs, both are almost useless in PvE/PvP) while queueing up heavy attack mid-animation & 2 other optional skills should bring atleast 1k also.

This nerf hit resto staff users. Please leave NB's out of it. If you can't play a NB without your staff maybe it's time to move to another class or learn new tricks.

Funny guy, guess what button I pressed? Go ahead, guess.

NB's and DK's are the dominant in PVP right now. There was no nerf to Nightblades, there was a nerf to All Healers though.

The "nerf" was not even significant. What did you lose? If you are unable to perform because of this change you were already running a terrible build and playing badly.

Agree here 100%. I played ESO to be a sneaky DW/Bow rogue, hoping to focus mostly with the bow.

I've found that sword/board is the most effective in PvP at the moment...good DPS, shield charge gets you around the battlefield fast and in melee range instantly.

I've also found that everyone sneaks and is good at it.

And I've found that the Nightblade spells are the best at taking down opponents.

So basically, my weapon is utility, and my spells are my DPS. And sneak is just a function everyone can do.

ONce this all sunk in...I was disappointed. Still the PvP game setup is a blast, so at the end, your race/build/equipment don't matter, it's good group tactics working together that matters.

NBs won't get the the buffs or fixes it needs until the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood get into the game. Those skill trees should have what us NBs need to finally start doing what we were meant to do.

Incorrect to say that this nerf hit everyone.

It is clear that it hit NBs the most, because NB is the only class (other than templar) that has no synergy with the destro staff for single target dps.

Sorcs have critical surge, and destro was their preferred weapon for single target dps prior to this patch. DK has fire damage passives that boosted destro.

This is a massive nerf to NBs, and it is plain and clear.

I actually anticipated this attitude, I know how people like throwing around words like "massive" so I decided to throw on Siphoning Attacks during the Foundation Stone Atronach fight yesterday. This (if you don't know) lowers spell power by 22% which I figure will be roughly equivalent to a ~10% damage nerf, probably slightly worse than what this will actually end up being since I will probably swap to doing light attacks with a fire staff.

    VUfaHXo.png

Add another 4% spell crit with the soulshine set, damn.. I am sloppy sometimes.

Nightblades will adapt and move on, and resto staff finally won't be the only choice for NB casters.

Edit: The image was shrinked by the forum, you can right click it and open image in new tab. Or take my word for it being 1207 (FTC numbers).

Edit 2: In case it's somehow lost, my point is that my DPS will vary more by how tired I am at the time, than it will from this change.

Just so you know, the upcoming dark brotherhood style will include light armor (as well as heavy armor). Same thing with the Morag Tong and Thieves Guild styles, each of which will have light armor (robe and jerkin variations) and heavy armor.
