Mine would weigh less than the minimum possible in the creation area if I could have.I have no problem with them. This game uses skin tight textures to limit poly count and turning those off would only make us look like we are wearing skin tight outfits. This is why many players make their characters far thicker than they would normally look so that armor looks like it has substance.
I see a ton of players making skinny toons and likely they had no clue how terrible they would look in armor.
I guess nobody here likes Japanese armor either.

The bigger the cushion, the deeper the pushin', that's what I said!
I really would like to have the option, too, to just hide these ridiculous flip flop flaps like we can hide the helmet. The flaps, tassets and shoulder pads.
I always wanted to have a character that wears armor (not a disguise) that looks like just a shirt and pants, but these flaps all around just spoil it.
About the floating tassets, the only explanation I could think of is, they might be designed for the "fattest possible character" that can be created and don't attach to a body that is thinner.

I agree with you.
The mud flaps spoil male fantasies!

I didn't say that, and I'm female btw, but you might have a point there
